Wow, lots of last minute entries! Good stuff, everyone!

Since so many people have been pressed for time, I'm going to leave the vote compilation until fairly late on the 1st (mid-afternoon to evening GMT, I imagine) so there's still a good 15 hours or so to get something entered! I appreciate everyone has more important things to do than paint toy soldiers at this time of year!

Happy new year, y'all!

Twas the night before submissions,
Not a creature was stirring, except for the gamer,
Who fretted so dearly,
Asking themselves,
How will I ever get this in on time?

I'll pluck you like a flower.

Cheers Para. If I don't get pics up, please take my last post as demonstration that I completed, but I don't wish to enter those blurry desk pics.

I just fetched the jeep, and the purity seal spray has turned all of my weathering powder white.

I had it do that to my DV chaos marines. 'Gutting' does not even come close. The two remedies I've actually seen work are either respray with gloss varnish and then paint on matt varinsh or try brushing on a matt varnish. The second one only seems to work with certian companies matt varinsh. I used Jo Sonja's Water-Based Polyurethene Matt Varnish (Aussie company according to the back of the label)

I'm gonna re-apply the powders I think. But it's extensive, imagine a jeep that went off-road through a muddy field. :(

Was it just the powders it arsed or did it frost the paintwork too?

Purely the powders. Paint is fine. I'm quite perplexed, as the FW staff told me to use it.

Aye - that's one of the ways of fixing the powders they recmnd in the masterclass books too. I've done the same in the past am seemed to work fine. Purity seal is so flaky stuff at times

Yikes, sorry to hear! I've not heard of that before. You used purity rattle can on top of forge world powders, and it gave you problems? How bizarre.

Have you considered lightly drybrushing the model? the (white) weathering powder will turn, for example, brown. You can lay down a darker drybrush, that goes further up, and then a lighter drybrush closer to the ground.

Morning All, Happy New Year

Thank you very much for the slight extension Para it really helped me get this done.

Well finally after much toil its finished (ish, would have liked to do more highlights and extra add-on bits etc)

I think this has taken me somewhere in the region of 80 hours to complete, far longer than I thought so I'm hoping I get at least a few votes for effort lol. I think I'm safe in saying that you won't find a model like this in the shops (god I hope not anyway). The bomb is magnetised so you can remove it if needed and swap it with something else. I ran out of time to fill Santas sack up with more "presents"

My final entry, I'll post some bonus pics up later since dakka was resized these making them harder to see.

St NicOrklas comes to town.

Very nice MG, I knew it was goign to be good when you started melting plasticard.

@ButtreryC: Hey, how did you apply your powders?

I've never had mine go white before now, your powders must have been damp.

Also a tip is not to "seal" them if you want it to look dry, so long as you are not handling the parts with the powders on it doesn't matter otherwise they'll rub off.
I apply mine with some something like white spirit then paint them on, wait for it to dry and use an old big brush to dust off the extras and soften the edges.

Looking forward to the seeing the finished article.

I applied the powders on the 5th of December, using a brush and a small amount of Lahmium medium in crevices.
I've been using the car in tourneys and casual games ever since, but varnished last night for photo purposes. If they were damp, God knows how, I haven't laid a brush near them in weeks.

Gonna lightly poof some on shortly to retake photos, but I'm kinda bewildered.

Eesh that sucks BC, I used weathering powders last night and I just decided to paint on gloss varnish them on. Unless that is the wrong path to do also.

@januine is that an okay thing to do?
