Hey guys, so im working on that introduction I mentioned and i just wanted to run a concept by you. So my marines are from a world called Aspen and with the theme of my chapter being hounds i thought i'd add well some hounds. I was thinking of calling them aspenian hounds and would be roughly the size of a attack bike, they would not be strong enough to be used as calvary but i thought they could be used to assist scout squads or flanking the enemy. So what do you think ? Am i stepping on the space wolves toes with this ? Or should i just write away like a madman ?

Go for it. Lots of planets have animals adapted for war.
Perhaps they're good for tracking in a forest environment?

Space Wolves are usually drunk all over the floor, stepping on their toes is statistically very likely, especially as they have all kinds of special snowflake stuff from everywhere.

I say go for it, I mean, Jhe90's Space Wolf captain may send your captain a C&D letter, but you can always bribe him with alcohol.

Sounds cool. If you want to differentiate them from wolves you could base their appearance on a breed of dog used for tracking, like a coonhound or bloodhound.

Long as there clearly different. Make them something unique to you by gaint bloodhounds or such mentioned. Then adds to your fluff too .

Maybe they are a "upgraded breed" from the local planet that was geneticly enhanced with higher strength, enhanced tracking etc.

Ferasian wolves are natural bar cyber wolves etc. Make them part nature, upgraded for war then both are nicely different

Why do I have a bad feeling those dogs will be tracking my Eldar? Or at least trying to.

I sense that "UNLEASH THE HOUNDS!" is going to become a meme of the second Crusade.

I don't know. Mostly because the hounds are probably being "unleashed" on my Eldar.

I can keep the doggies busy by trying to infiltrate some Alpha Legion operatives in the Imperials' ranks, if you'd like

They'll be so wrapped up in trying to sniff out the traitors they'll never even reach your knife-ears

Besides, the Remnants are mostly going to be busy trolling the Loyalists, playing Dora the Explorer in the Blood Dragon ruins and recruiting whoever they can find to bolster their ranks, so you won't have much trouble from me

I find that being paranoid and expecting everyone to go after me, and then being pleasantly surprised if they don't is better than praying that nobody goes after me and find out that everyone is. I'm being paranoid, it makes things a little easier on me.

Personally I like the idea of fighting alongside big dogs more than marines mounting battle Corgies. But it's your guys if they want to storm the battle field atop Chihuahuas who am I to say no

We'll see: we're open to any sort of offer at this point. Better be worth it though - I wouldn't like to be stuck in a well-defended Tau compound.
