Hey, I'm a GK player and am just wondering which land raider to make. I will be mainly up against Space Marines if this will help you make a decision.

Thanks in advance!

Magnetize it and use both. Definitely worth it

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Depends what you're wanting it for, and what else is in your army.

At the same time, my brain says 'classic land raider' because a grey knight army tends to come laden with umpty-ump stormbolters but doesn't have much access to the lascannon.

Grey Knights do not have the Ultra

Crusader, the Redeemer has always underwhelmed me. Either that or the classic

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

War Kitten, just so I know everything, do you mind saying why the redeemer underwhelms you?

Many thanks.

I've never gotten the Redeemer to work, even back when BA could Deep Strike them. They just get shot down before they get to range.

Crusader is WAAAAY more useful, as is the Godhammer type (dual TL Las Cannons and HB).

I like the Redeemer. It's ready and willing to be the CCW tank and shines in the under 24" zone. So you charge forward, putting all your effort into movement, then you slow down, melt things and the unit charges. They can be pretty hit or miss, depending on the opponent though. But Bolters are always a miss in my book. Can't stand them, so I would much rather torch things than keep shooting bad guns and hope for the best.

He's against meq and people are suggesting crusaders over redeemers? What is Wrong with you?

Because I have seen a redeemer flamer work once. Since the thing came out. You'll kill more meq with the crusader.

How the hell is anybody aiming the Redeemer at any opponent that isn't braindead?

Because all Land Raiders kinda suck as shooty vehicles. The Phobos doesnt have enough shot output, the Redeemer can't get its Flame Templates to bear very well and the Crusader is stuck with Hurricane Bolters. However the Crusader wins because its the best at doing the main job of a Land Raider - delivering an assault unit into combat. You can stick more guys in a Crusader, so therefore it wins.

Crusaders can fit more models right?

It's going to get shot to pieces anyway, might as well try to get as many guys up-field as you can in the process. Maybe it can defend an assault squad long enough for it to be meaningful?

The Helios is my personal preference.

In a Grey Knight army the vanilla Land Raider is the best as it brings some lascannons to the fight.

No land raider is a good idea in general with Grey Knights. You should be running as many terminators as possible and deep striking everything.

I'm on the 'Nilla Train. The lascannons do decent work and with their range you'll use them more. You can kill more tanks for sure, but you also can kill more foot units since you can fire at them from across the table.

I'd say go crusader, the redeemer is cool and all, but you probably won't get much use out of its flamer things.

Also crusader fits better fluff wise with the grey knights, having a knightly name and all.
