Isn't this already in the current ITS? It's why people put mines in a corner and next to the civilian.

Very cool, can definitely see a couple of possibilities there. Thanks for posting that!

Not ITS; it's in the core rules, IIRC.

IIRC, it's not actually possible to target the HVT directly. Mine won't detonate if they would affect a HVT, for example.
The only way to actually risk hitting them is by shooting at a model in B2B contact with a HVT, IIRC.

You can technically kill HVTs/Civvies with models that have the Explode skill. (You're not actually targeting the HVT, they're just caught in one of the rare AOEs that aren't caused by some targeting)

True, I forgot about those. Like with shooting, you would have to be trying to lose the game, or be really desperate, for that to happen (says someone who push a civilian through a monofilament mesh in the Paradisio campaign.)

Monomine no longer leave behind a mesh. But, yeah not linkey to happen even Explode can be by passed by the unit.

So, I must have missed it somewhere, but do we know if FRRM and SEF are still playable in an "official" capacity?

I know we're waiting on their revamps, and that they don't have updated army lists in HS N3, but they still have N3 army lists from the rulebook. I'm hoping it's a case of "yeah, those are still ITS-legal, they're just not getting any updates (except for any old units that got new profiles)".

OK, I forgot what browser tab I was looking at and thought Monomine was some sort of Japanese name. "Princess Monomine", that sort of thing. Now I can't stop reading it that way; it sounds rather pretty... <3

They are ITS legal, but far from optimized I must say.

Just so long as they're not getting temporarily Squatted. I know CB wouldn't do that - I know no good company in their right mind would - but the silence was making me paranoid...

I don't even play either (was going to start FRRM eventually, now very much looking forward to the revamp), I was just curious!

Caskuda says hi.

He says the Exrah are doing just fine out in the void next to the Squats, thank you.

The Exrah were not "squatted". They, as befitting their insect nature, metamorphosized...into universal proxies

Consider that the Exrah were never a faction unto themselves. The Squats were. CB would have to completely remove a faction, or a sectorial, to "squat" them. The removal of a few units-- five?-- from a faction hardly constitutes a proper "squatting". Still, it was dumb to remove them instead of releasing some legacy profiles, and making them mercs available only to the CA, and only in non ITS games.

Maybe one month until we all start getting HS. #Tryingmypatience

The next big Con where CB attends is Ficzone in Granada, at the end of this month. Any news on what to expect,if anything?

The Exrah was a tough choice, Cascuda while a magnificent model, never payed for its construction, the Exrach line never became even close to liked despite many attempts to make it work, stopping the line was a tough choice, but, if they left legacy profiles a few people would demand miniatures that would not happen and this is more problematic than simply stopping the line.

Do they? I mean, all the units in those sectorals are obviously useable in Ariadna or Combined Army forces, but the 3rd edition Sectoral army lists are only available in the Unit Profiles PDF and Infinity Army, both of which will no doubt be updated when HS 3rd edition is released. Whether those two Sectorals get grandfathered in is unclear.

Oh, believe me, I'm still sore over the Exrah being written out. I'm not usually fond of aliens in human-centric sci-fi, but those militant capitalist bugs wormed their way into my heart. I like the Shasvastii and EI, too, but the Exrah were my faves.

CB may have nipped them in the bud (I saw potential in them, but I grudgingly accept their rationale), but squatting an entire, already-existing faction would have been a whole other ball game.

This was precisely my fear. I see now that there's no reason they can't just keep them in, and that the only reason everyone else got new army lists is because theirs actually changed. No new list means the old one's still valid, is what I'm hoping CB are intending.

How big is this boy supposed to be? The snorkels are probably going to be easily skippable element during assembly.

I'm liking the way that CB are getting a chance to embrace their inner Neon Genesis Evangelion in a faction.

Whilst the rest of the design work is gradually drifting away from the 80s manga look, they still have a place for it with CA; which is fine because, aliens...

Was watching GITS 2.0 last night and I thought the same thing.

They're forging their own look, which isn't a bad thing I guess.

Is that a natural 21?

I would expect it to be about the same size as the Sphinx. Hopefully it won't be as badly priced as the Sphinx, because that thing is so not worth its cost.

I'm guessing money - €30,95 for a fairly small, rather spindly model just because it happens to qualify as a TAG does seem like rather poor value compared to the rest of the range.

(And I can't imagine there's too many players around who'd complain the sphinx isn't good enough for it's points - certainly not after having seen it in action once or twice).

I'm wondering if anyone has ever done anything so ultra-nerdy as weight:retail price comparisons of models.

I know that there are a lot of factors involved in pricing: design time, moulds, raw materials, packaging etc. but just the weight of something like an individual Gecko (another mini-TAG) and I reckon that there's enough metal in it to make up a full six model S2 box.

This is the internet. Not only is it guaranteed someone has done that, but Rule 34 dictates that there's also a porn version.

The galaxy is littered with the single-planet graveyards of civilisations which made the economically sensible decision not to explore space.

Yeah, I was referring to the real world cost of the Sphinx. The in-game point cost is fine as the Sphinx is a bit a beast, but in terms of cold, hard cash? Totally not worth it.

Did not IJW post the weight of the Morat Starter box right after it released? It was much pricier than the other starter boxes, due to the inclusion of the massive Sogarat. The number of pieces in a mini also influence the price. Requires more labor. All that stuff is hand packed.

I'm wondering what preview we get this week. Page roll over coming soon, so to refresh everyone's memory about April's releases...
