Just pull up an ap HMG Azrail pic and compare them.
Thigh armor is the same, boots/shin are the same with more armor on the AL Fasid, upper arm armor is the same, layered armor on the lower torso is the same.
Helmet is definitely odd, especially as the green is so washed out compared to the rest of it.

Not saying it's not the Ahl Fassed, it's just... I'm baffled by such a drastic redesign after we just got printed books. This is a pretty drastic redesign - changing their silhouette, changing their loadouts. I can't believe this is something tossed together at the last second, it has to have been in the pipeline for a while. Why the old profiles made it into the print book when a release was so imminent is really strange.

There's units with less drastic changes like just a new weapon that the model probably won't see the light of day that had their updated profile make it into HSN3, while a unit being entirely redesigned was left out.

I can't remember and I don't have the books on me, but I thought they weren't in the printed books, like the Halqa?

Well, that would make a lot of sense. And teach me to read the things before going off.

However, I'd still be interested in what makes them different to Azra'il now aside from just slightly less impressive firepower.

The lower half of the HMG looks different, possibly a LGL or LS have been suggested, though LFT would keep it toolboxy.

Something to represent their mercenary roots might be nice, Scavenger or the like would be cool and only very situational. Do you really need to pick up something when you have the HMG? but if you run a duo if one goes down the other one can pick up their weapon so you don't looks that flexibility.

Duo in vanilla would give them a little something above Azra'il.

Side by side with the Azra'il HMG

Similar barrel, nothing else is the same. Even the muzzles are different. Of course all the other similarities and differences are a bit clearer too.

I'm not convinced one way or the other. it could be one of those minis CB tested and then decided not to produce. There are images of a few of those floating around. I don't think these 2 minis were painted by the same person either.

The more I look, the more I think that this is a converted Azra'il, and meant to be a Blackjack. For the legs, added shin guards and knee plates. For the chest, some sort of cowling. The head has been swapped with something and the machine gun altered. Has it been photoshopped into an image so that real CB minis are in the background?

Where did this image originate anyway?

The Azra'il is an AP HMG which might explain differences like the muzzle if this is a regular HMG.

That would be an awful lot of work just to do a conversion. Just looking at the upper body, I can see a direct match with the recently revealed silhouette. No, I'm inclined to think that this is the new Ahl Fassed. Either it's an early sculpt that isn't going to be used, like the HMG Ghulam one they showed, or this is indeed an actual upcoming release for the starter. Either way, my money is on this being the Ahl Fassed.

One thing I hope to see is that he gets a higher AVA. Chances are, since the Ahl Fassed is still left out of Qapu Khalki for whatever reason, he'll hopefully find a spot in the Al Medinat sectorial. If that's the case, he should fill a similar role to the Azra'il which that sectorial wouldn't be able to take.

Personally, I'm happy to see another pseudo-TAG HI for Haqq. I wonder if the Ahl Fassed will be retaining their shotgun profile? I'd love to see a bulked out pseudo-TAG with an equally bulked out super shotgun.

Ahl Fased are dirty mercenaries. They will likely be Khanate.

They are highly paid dirty mercenaries who can't show their faces. The former matches the Caliphate and why would the Khanate care to enforce the latter?

I can see them being in either one really.

People on the official forums are saying the image is flipped based on the masters in the background. If it's flipped they look more like Arabic numerals.

The figures in the back look normal now, so maybe this is a first for that size gun on the left side.

I still say that underslung weapon is a boarding shotgun.

Looks just like the Odalisque boarding shotgun

The badge on the chest is clearly a maple leaf, and it's colour deontes some eveil offshoot of the RCNP, so I'm calling it now - nasty Canadian Ariadna faction.

So Ghulam, Zhayedan and ? on the Haqq side, and Zhanshi, Zuyong and Hsien on the YJ side.

Most likely a Taureg? Probably just has some colour shifting from the camera on the blue head covering.

Oh yeah I see it now. I thought it was hair at first glance.

Apparently there's a full reveal on Beasts of War next week.

Which begs the question of why they didn't do it this week or last week; y'know before GTM comes out?

Because Spain.

Assuming it is a Zhayedan I'm guessing that's the Breaker Rifle/ LSG.

So that would make the Haqq starter either:
3 Ghulam, Khawarij, Tuareg, Zhayedan and box only Ahl Fassed
Or
2 Ghulam (very odd for a starter), Khawarij, Tuareg, Zhayedan, Ahl Fassed and something else as the box only model

Or Beasts of War. Not always the quickest when it comes to releasing previews. Either way, speculating was fun.

Operation:Red Veil. A 2 player starting point. Icestorm II, Storm Harder it will be. A new set of terrain-- Yu Jing Orbital themed-- markers, custom dice (wizdice maybe? Ah well. Cb should get/make their own molds and cast their own dice for these boxes, like GameScience. They could do it. Custom Infinity dice of GameScience quality. Yes, please. We have to paint the minis, so what if we would have to fill in the numbers on the dice.)

Ghulam, Zhayedin and Tuareg. It will be box of 3 ghulam (CB only had concept art for 1 Male Ghulam, that is why we only saw one silhouette, I think), 1 tuareg, 1 zhayedin, and 1 khawarij with the Red Veil box exclusive being 1 Al Fasid. Based on what we know so far. Interesting that the Tuareg's turban is purple and not blue. A Yu Jing player can explain the Yu Jing inclusions.

Well, I wonder what the LE mini will be? If it is not so good, I would be inclined to hold off on pre-ordering, and just wait for MM to put the box on Deal of the Day. Save more than a few $$$. Or wait even longer for just the Haqq starter box, if the Al Fasid is not a particularly good mini (like that photo of unknown origin we just saw), and the terrain is meh.

Pre-orders will start when, 17 July probably, so we will not have that much of a wait until we see the actual minis. I'm curious about both the Tuareg and the Zhayedin... Moreso the Tuareg. Been waiting on those resculpts for several years.

I thought I read that BoW is doing a video for this next week.

Can't recall where... Facebook maybe?

Yeah i posted it on Facebook in a few places, and I got it off a warcor on the forum who I believe is Killian from BoW (but might be wrong on that part).

I didn't even notice the turban. I tbought it was hair as well. Looking more closely, if the art can be trusted, the Tuareg looks to be the sniper profile. The rifle looks like the sniper rifle from the Govad and Ghulam dossier art. Looks like the Zhayedan probably has the breaker rifle/light shotty as I don't recognize that gun design.
