A sniper would make sense. CB likes to include one in every box.

Killian posts on the official forum as Deep-Green-X, and He had this to say,

"Cats out of the bag now then....

I hope more stuff doesn't get spoiled as there's some really nice surprises in the set.

Keep an eye on BOW next week for the full reveal."

How about the term 2 player starting point? Icestorm was billed as a 2 player introductory battlepack. Could this different terminology mean we are not getting Icestorm II after all. (I do hope yes.)

I just realised that the lack of a Jannisary means no AP Rifle Jannisary. The only other place that model could go is a redone Qapu Khalki starter, which I assume is a long way off.

Well it kinda seems like this is a replacement for Icestorm, which isn't no bad thing I think. They can learn from their Icestorm experiences to deliver a better product. They're adding two new armies for new players to select from. Even gets more varied terrain out there. All good things.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

Icestorm is still available though. As are the quickstarter rules. What I hope to see is something more than just 5 "learner" scenarios. Some updated campaign rules maybe or something along the lines of Dire Foes? Anything but re-skinned Icestorm. We've been told to expect really nice surprises sometime next week.

Is there enough/any cross over in the proposed Haqq half and the proposed Al Medinate Sectorial to justify getting it?

Probably not, and I don't really want Yu Jing, so unless the 'box only' model is something really special...

Khawarij and Zhuyedan would be Caliphate, as might the new Al Fasid.
Assuming that and that the Ghulams will stay as line infantry for the Caliphate then every model but one is part of that sectoral.

Naffatun are rumoured to be the line infantry for Caliphate, with Halqa taking that role for Khanate. Ghulam are the line infantry for the Qapu Khalki, and are a token presence (hence their AVA 4) in Hassassin Bahram as a way to keep an eye on Hassassin operatives in the field.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Ghulam appear in the Caliphate, but with Naffatun and Zheyadan, I'd be a little surprised.

OK, thanks for the info - and for tempting me to reconsider get the box...

Thanks, I guess!

Right, I can see them making an appearance at ava 3 or something, but really you'd only want them for cheap specialist or SWC options over the Naffatun

Which begs the question - why not just add some of those profiles to Naffatun. I'd rather see Naffatun expanded with a few SWC and specialist options that shove Ghulam into Al Medinat.

Hope that is the case, even if they arent repetitions of Ghulam options.
HRL, Spitfire, Vulcan Shotgun would all be super.
Feuerbach would be delighfully insane.

Even if they just go with fire options. Vulkan Shotgun, HRL, LRL. No high burst weapons like HMGs or Spitfires, keep the unit thematic. A linked HRL is pretty nasty already. Give them a Doctor Plus (because Haqqislam) and an Engineer (to be different, this is the 'well educated' sectorial) and Forward Observers. Maybe a hacker if it's not well represented in the sectorial.

Sybella to use as an objective would be fun, since this ones story revolves around information retrieval.

But Sybella is an AI.
Although it'd be kinda cool if she had an Lhost body (and Aleph rules).

Not as a 'body'. She's frequently shown as a sort of 'clippy' type helper hologram. She's also a much requested bootleg in this form. Having Sybella as the LE model that the scenarios revolve around seems like a fun way to do a miniature of her. Outside of the LE that can be represented by any token or console. Just have her from the waist up as Sybella and waist down as a sort of conical shape down to the base, and you've got a hologram projected from the waist up.

I would prefer a full body that you can paint in "hologram blue" if you preferred or just as a regular civvie/lhost if that was your bag.

Watch, they'll just include her as one of those clear plastic standees, like the hacker holos or the Gwailo's shield.

I'm actually hoping that they try introducing some of the terrain aspects with this one. Since it's in an orbital, how about implementing rules for Zero-G? They could be a bit more creative with the map, include areas outside of the station, cramped corridors, etc. It would make for a very different feel from the previous 2-player starter if nothing else.

And Alph, are we ever going to see the thread title updated?

The Ninja and Ahl Fasid are exclusive to Red Veil, at least for now from what I could understand. There is also a new Yuan Yuan exclusive to the box for preorders(?maybe? that's what it sounded like)

So the big dudes are the Box only minis you think?

No picture of the super secret box only LE mini yet?

Not "the big dudes". It's just the Ahl Fassed and the Ninja.

Notice how they're not in the pictures for the updated starters for Haqqislam and Yu Jing? That's all the confirmation you really need.

No picture of the super secret box only LE mini yet?

That might be awhile, as they just removed the playlists where we got the images from being Public. They were posted to prep for next week and were accidentally listed Public instead of Private.

Almost forgot to post the scenery!

Scenery picture comes from "WireLizard" on the official forums.

Melkhior from the official forums also posted that there are "two new SpecOps for Haqqislam and Yu Jing" and linked to a video that is now Private.

Hopefully we'll be seeing a new wave of SpecOps soon, including a Grunt.

@Kan, yea I noticed that after I checked the pics again. Also, the 2 are standing right next to each other in the group pic.

The terrain is sweet.

I'm very happy that the terrain is so different than IceStorm. Additionally, the little bridge is awesome.

It's interesting that it's heavily Yu Jing Chinese all over the place with the occasional Haqqislam image. Where is this place?

Actually, the "extra mini" is a Yuan Yuan.

Each side gets 7 models. The starter sets are these:
Yu Jing

3 Zanshi
Hsien with HMG
Zu Yong Terracotta Soldier with Combi Rifle
Tiger Soldier Hacker

Their 7th model is the Ninja with Tactical Bow

Haqqislam is this set

3x Ghulam Infantry with Rifles
Zhayedan Intervention Troop with Breaker Rifle with LGL
Tuareg with Sniper Rifle
Khawarji with Rifle

Their 7th model is the new Ahl Fassed

The Ahl Fassed is rocking an HMG with a LGL and a Heavy Pistol

The box also includes a new Yuan Yuan and scenery. The Yuan Yuan seems to be the "preorder bonus" model like Icestorm had the Corporate Executive.
When the constituent items go to normal release, you will see the starter sets available without the 7th models.
You will likely not see the 7th models available in this exact format, if they follow the Icestorm and USARF format.

Well, there goes any chance I had of resisting that one! Al-Medinat is all over it!

The yu Jing models are looking nice too, so hopefully I won't have much trouble selling them off...
