So I am sure its buried in the forum some where but could you help me with what Knight I should buy, if its a GW one I could for sure magentize is but i dont know much about forgeworld models so maybe those would actually be better for me.

So I play two armies sometimes I mix them together. First is a mostly MSU space marine with a couple Talons, I have a couple tanks but tend not to like playing with them. Play with Cents instead.

Then I have a Imperial Guard with a couple Russ's then can either run a few vet squads but tend to play with lots of larger squads and HWT.

I tend to always get my butt kicked because I do more quantity over quality because, well it seems more fun?

I think a Knight would help me achieve my fun but also help me balance and this day and age they are no longer the OP cheese they once were considered IMO.

Thanks for the help.

Magnetizing them is super simple, so just go with the Crusader / Warden kit, and you'll be laughing. If you KNOW that you only want to use the Paladin or Errant, you can save 10 or 11% of the cost, but I'd say the bitz are worth the extra investment.

My personal preferences are the Paladin [Double Tap Battle Cannon] or the Warden [12 Shot MEQ Muncher, with Rending!]. If you actively plan to avoid CC, then you could rock the Crusader [More points] which has both guns but no Destroyer Class CCW. Just S 10 with ignores armour saves, instead...

The Crusader is good against EVERYTHING, from flyers to MEQ to Vehicles to most MC... It even has rending so a 2+ save isn't perfect protection. You're apt to get a couple Rends, and there's a good chance to fail one of the 6 or so saves your opponent is likely to take... Like everything, it really only gets stopped by a 3++ save.

Magnetizing them is super simple, though, so I'd suggest going that route. I can't think of a single army that wouldn't benefit from a Crusader though, it's so flexible it can handle most roles effectively.

I agree with greatbig in that the Crusader is the best jack of all trades Knight. While it lacks some of the D-strength melee punch, it is still S10 and it still has the stomps which is the bread and butter when Knights are in melee with non vehicles/non huge stuff.

I'd rate the Crusader 2nd best, myself. I think the Gallant is the big winner since it is pure CC. The Crusader is good but you're missing out on either Stomping, or shooting, generally, so that's why I rate it second best.

Just to note, the crusader is 50 points more. But what it really depends on, is who you will be mainly playing? Will you playing a variety of armies (at a tournament or your FLGS) or a specific one/few (like me).

The crusader is, IMHO, the best jack of all, and is good against swarm armies (dedicated swarm, like orks)

Warden is also good against swarms, and excels against tyranids- gatling cannon for the big swarm units and reaper chainsword for the MCs

paladin/errant for space marines, paladin for how you play (quantity) and errant for quality

Gallant is, in my personal opinion, the weakest, being very situational and a CC specialist in a shooting based game. However, if you are struggling to kill those super-heavies/gargantuan or even MCs, this can save your behind. Just remember to give it fire-support and bear in mind it can be easily tar-pitted- wounds from D-strength attacks don't spill over, so you are only looking at a maximum of 5 dead peeps a turn on the charge, 4 after that.

I... actually don't know. Help?

That depends. Is your army really shooty? Then maybe a Paladin, Gallant or Errant is good. Is your army choppy? Then the Crusader is your best choice.

To Valhall! ~2800 points

You are forgetting Stomps, which will actually do a number on a lot of units. Gallant is strong because it puts a lot of pressure on your opponent and it's cheap(ish). And as you highlight, it can make a mess of Deathstars and the like.

I'd say a warden out of the GW knights. You've got enough CC to keep assault units wary of just charging your lines and you can get your battlecannon shots from your russes and melta from your marines. The gallant exposes those AV12 sides too much for my liking since it needs to be moving up.

As for FW, the Guard can do torrent flamers, so the acheron is probably only a choice if you face a lot of MEQ, because str 7 AP3 hellstorm is no joke. The castigator is great against hoardes, but the lack of a second weapon and no Str D lets it down against a few targets and can prevent charges. The Atropos is fairly awesome regardless and the Lancer is probably only a choice is you're facing down other super-heavies or gargantuans.

The magaera is the red headed step child IMHO and doesn't fit in anywhere, but it's not great IMHO so I wouldn't bother.

I'd be going with a Warden personally, but if you don't mind paying double the price for FW, either the Atropos or Acheron would serve you well.

Sounds like to get most out of money is to magnetic a warden kit.
