Thanks both. I envisioned it as a scene where the Hunter is defending the hatch which leads to a bunker of frightened citizens hiding from the Karists. I've even got plans for signs of his Handler crawling into the hatch for protection.
But debris is good too

Base construction complete, I think. Let me know if you think I should make any tweaks. The rock will be brown Like the Angel bases, control panel and door as you'd expect, then there will be snow glued in a similar way to the snow bases. I'm aiming to at least get this guy done next month but will try to get some contractors and another Hunter ready in case I have time.

The basing is excellent. It could look like they either are coming out of their hidden base as defenders, or trying to breech the base installation of the opponent.

Hey all. I know that I am well behind everyone else, but finally put together my first Contractor:
Glad that I opted for the Pig Iron heads and although I won't use the pads/backpacks on everyone, I like that they add some uniqueness to my troops. Don't think he will be a leader, I think I will be using a cap/hair head for that Contractor as a way to make them stand out.
Found the plastic construct quite fiddly on these and am a bit unsure how I will pull off a pose I wanted to do for the leader (running across a beam with two arms forward firing with rifle and pistol at the same time). With fixed legs and the arms as they are I need to pick carefully.
Here's his base:
An exhaust vent from the facility embedded in the rock. I know it's a little high, but was needed for the vent to fit in and have solid enough base to hold it.
Anyway. Plan to try and enter this squad in to Eadbanger II over on Facebook after I have completed a single figure gaming entry (if I manage anything at all).
As always C&C welcome, cheers for checking by.

You did not make life easy on yourself with that Epirian's part choices - left leaning arms with the right pointing legs (part M) is the hardest possible combo to make look good, but you pulled it off!
When using the part 'M' legs, we generally recommend:
- placing one of the feet raised on the base to change the lean of the model
OR
- using the more neutral arms with less pointed poses - with the clenched fist left arm (A4) being the best/easiest option to build with.
Good job though. I'm sure you'll find it a lot easier when building with the other leg types as you already used the most complex combination of parts. The part 'N' legs go with pretty much anything easily, so maybe try those for the next build to give yourself a break

No way!!! whoops!
It just seems the most natural position to be trying to brace oneself to fire at range while standing (I may have checked the stance myself while standing in the middle of the room). Trying to tell a story with the minis. Glad it worked.
N legs huh? I shall be taking that advise on board
Any tips on which legs may lend themselves to being converted to running the easiest ..... I have a plan (Insaniak's influence)

So here is my first 5 man unit of contractors pre-priming. I got a bit tired doing the base with two squares on and wasn't happy this morning, so I've added some cork shards in font and behind to try and add some consistency.
I hope every mini has character. These are my rough thoughts on them:
Top guy is the sharp shot who can hit cans from large distances
The leader is the guy with the eye patch, he is checking the site and finds the skull of an Epirian victim. He is becoming sickened by the war having lost his family and good friends and wants an end to the fighting.
The guy who is meant to be running (up to you all if that came off) has spotted a Karist Shadow Walker and is charging him down across a broken gantry to neutralise the thread before he disappears
The bottom two are my "red shirts" (Trek reference), the left is the muscles who opts for grenade launcher add-on to help "bring the rain" and the right is the "bubble gum chewing" guy who gets serious when the fight is on.
Interested to hear C&C. Was surprised how difficult I found to convert them to be honest. I don't have any IG stuff and am very used to just grabbing a different SM head etc to convert. Was a good lesson. I've tried to use the bases to sell the story more with these. As a feedback to Spiral Arm Studios I would consider adding some different expressions to the faces. I am using the Pig Iron heads anyway, but wanted the charging guy to have a screaming face and use an official head to make him a unit leader, but they were all low in their expressions and didn't fit. That's why I opted for a thoughtful leader instead with the skull. Would have been good to have an action hero though. It's early days for MEdge though and there's plenty of time to make tweaks.
Satisfied with these builds, and will probably enter them in to the Eadbanger II competition on Facebook as my unit. Toying with the idea of the Hunter being for the armour category, but may default back to 40K and finally build the Nephilim Jetfighter. But that's for another blog.....

Good stuff, great work on making each model an individual. I agree it's easy to get spoilt on the wealth of easy conversions available to Space Marines (hence why they're still my favourite army from any game to model and paint, even after doing a few hundred over the years!), but you've done a great job with these!

Thanks Para. I agree re SMs are great for conversions, and that it is because we are quite spoilt. MEdge is the first game system other than 40K that I have painted so am enjoying the variety it brings. The limitations of poses etc can be overcome so it's not a problem. I am gonna have a LOT of heads at he end of this. Gonna need to find a future MEdge beasty that needs a base along the lines of the Space Hulk Broodlord
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Uh oh, just realised that the the Slasher Mature Angel conversion that I have in mind will be all tentacles and would look good slime-ing his way over a pile of heads and skulls.
So many ideas, so little hobby time!!!

Hey there. A very early WIP of my Hunter. Please excuse the sloppy base colours, I'll be blocking them in with black after I finish the base Leadbelcher.
Small tip for anyone building these guys up - seriously consider a full subassembly paint prior to construction. If you are doing a standard pose this would be essential and sensible. If you are converting you can consider gluing parts, but not all. The reason I comment is that J separated the arms off, but left the legs to get the pose right. The legs being in place has made it hard to get in with the brush easily IMO. That said, beautiful kit to paint. Can't wait to do some more

I've switched temporarily to the Contractors and here's the first WIP with the orange blocked in very untidily. Think I'll need to do all of the orange layers prior to the black over-armour because of how tight some of the arm/torso connections are. Better than SMs though

WIP of one of the contractors.
All of the 5 have the oranges done and all bases are at this stage (need snow and disc base edged with black). This contractor is the furthest ahead because I have blocked back in around the orange areas.
Will do the face base coat first, then base the other colours.
Then highlighting :(
I'm not very good at highlighting so hope this goes ok. We'll all soon see

That orange is really nice, also like the red stripe makes the zipper go fasta which is essential when you have to go.
I also really like the bases, does Maelstorms edge play with true line of sight? Because the extra height of the base could be problematic.

It does unfortunately. But I took a "rule of cool" decision because I have no one to play games with. They are primarily to adorn my walls for now. I really hope that's not the long-term use they serve though.
If only there were a way to play across the Internet, that would be the perfect answer.... (drifts off in to dream world)
