Beating a dead horse i know.
I wont play 40k if it goes the way Warhammer fantasy did. I wont even buy the models for hobbying just for the sake of hating GW forevermore.
Does this post matter? Perhaps not.
But perhaps if many enough souls cry out in pain 40k can be saved from potential disaster before its too late.
I'dd sign a petition if someone were to make one and deliver it to GW.
I'dd also join a class action lawsuit if anyone goes that far.

Also not the Wolf-king because feth that guy.

As long as they learned the lesson of AoS (don't rape the fluff when you push the game forward), then I'd be completely fine with them [finally] moving the plot onwards.

The 13th company returning has already been done, with the fluff barely moving forward. The 'current' time went back a little since then, and now presumably is going forward again.
While it wouldn't surprise me to see 40k follow AoS's lead, the 13th company rerelease isn't in itself proof that it's imminent.

40K is already dead to me. I read the new codexs that have come out and the game is no longer recognizable to me. It has lost everything that made the game interesting in the first place.
I only follow it to see what new models are getting released and how I might incorporate them into my 4th edition gaming rule set.
I honestly think that GW is going the wrong way. They should have had a rule set, probably 4th edition, and stuck with it. Then released campaign sets and historic battle packages. This lets them still introduce new models and even new rules (rules contained within the unique sinerio) for people to use and expand their gaming experience without having to rewrite everything and pretty much starting over from scratch every edition. Or worse yet, trying to fit new and old rules into a game that neither properly supports either of them when combined into one package.

This is increasingly how I feel. The fluff is increasingly awful, stale, poorly written, and one dimensional, while the art/models/imagery seems to be running after a more LoL/WoW vibe than its own classic atmospherics, and the game has simply gotten to the point where there's no sense of coherency or connection to the background at all anymore with allies shenanigans and detachment sillyness, and the unit balance is increasingly insane. Local events at my FLGS have dropped off dramatically in attendance, with IIRC 4 people showing up to the last one, when at the height of 4E and 5E, we actually had to turn away people a couple of times after filling up all 24 spots, and pickup games both at my FLGS and the big place closer to me in downtown are effectively nonexistent, to get a game you *have* to arrange something through FB or the like.
The game has already effectively been " AoS'd" as points and force construction are increasingly irrelevant, and the background effectively obliterated in terms of its reflection on most tables.

The only way to get the same high are bigger, badder models!
Or another power armor model. That always works for a quick fix

40k isn't dead, and won't be anytime soon. Despite the growth of its competitors, they're still the 600lb gorilla in the room (even if it's old, tired and a bit bloated). The 30k and battle at calth stuff has tweaked my interest a wee bit, although my last 'real' holdout in 40k is still forgeworlds Horus heresy and imperial armour stuff.
I can't see them Aos-ing 40k either, although in ways, I see it as a more 'honest' approach to the type of gaming that gw wants to promote amongst gamers with its games (ie focus on social contract, home brew, player/scenario driven games, instead of top down dictates on how to play, and organised play). It's not a bad way to play (and I'd encourage it) but being railroaded down that direction gets tiresome.

Just give me updated Sisters of battle and I’ll be playing this game through an incarnation, any AOSing through thick and thin I’ll keep playing till I’m old and grey just give me that damn rerelease GW!
Of topic grumble/cry of desperation aside; advancing the plot a little sounds like a good idea that could rejuvenate interest in the plot as long as the fiction is well written… As long as an AOS format stays away from 40K otherwise I see the game and GW declining fast

To be fair, flyers in 6th were the beginning of the end of 40k as far as shoehorning garbage in that didn't belong in the game.
If it can't hover like a skimmer, it shouldn't be on the table. Feth's sake, it's a game on a table that's barely 100 scale yards deep. Flyers are better represented by the blast templates they drop as they zoom by too high and fast to even require a model.

Agreed 100%.
Advancing the setting, if handled half-way right, could actually benefit 40k in the long run. That and exploring more of it's past.

I just don't understand the mania around the timeline.
First, just because the Imperium (or parts of the Imperium) thinks that the Imperium is ending, doesn't mean that it is. It is possible to move the timeline forward, with significant events, and actual developments, without blowing up the Imperium of Man. I don't understand why anyone (in particular GW) thinks that it's necessary or good to move the timeline forward in some sort of apocalyptic fashion. It should be possible to have big, dramatic developments that still don't fundamentally alter the entire status quo of a galaxy-spanning, 10,000 year old empire!
Second, could ANYONE at GW act like the TEN THOUSAND YEARS between the Heresy and the end of the 41st millennium were interesting?* Why can't we have stuff about M34, or M39? I mean, I'm not asking for them to roll out new armies, but they already put rules in White Dwarf again. Roll out a unit of aliens and say "These guys fought the Imperium in M38. They were wiped out as a galactic force, but they still are encountered in scattered warbands. They can be used as allies in a Tau, Chaos Marine, or Dark Eldar army."
GW could also put out books that spelled out the available forces during different periods of the Imperium. You could get campaign books and new formations, etc, with the added caveat that some units (and some armies) would not be available. If it works for the Horus Heresy I don't see why it stops working immediately thereafter.
I just hate the fixation on M39.999. Surely, the Space Marines did something cool between the Battle for Terra and 'now'.
*Beast Arises is the exception here. So glad that something post-heresy is getting attention, and it has some pretty significant milestones!
