Subject: Making use of a Meh Coldstar commander

This thread is not to talk about how Coldstar is not competitive, and listing all of it's flaws and how good he could have been.. so if that is why your hear.. please read and move on.
Let's think outside the box, by first answering some of the following questions...
1) Look out sir rolls are taken after wounds are allocated. Additionally, when a coldstar commander is no longer swooping, any drones that were attached immediately are put back onto the table. If Coldstar is attached to a unit of drones and is grounded.. is he able to look out sir that grounding wound to a drone?
2) Coldstar while swooping is able to jink. While swooping he is the only model, as the drones were removed. If coldstar jinks while swooping, then lands the following turn and drones placed back on the table.. Does the unit in it's entirety snapfire or only the commander?
3) While swooping any attached drones are removed. If coldstar takes a final wound to remove him while swooping, then are the drones also lost? or are they placed back on the table respectively where coldstar was slain?
Once these questions are answered, a silly, but possibly an effective strategy that I thought of, would be to pair up 4 or more coldstar commanders with drone controllers with units of gun drones. Essentially coldstar with his meh loadout, can effectively take out <=AV 11 armor. Thus.. swoop, pop the transport, next turn drop and with attached drones, dakka the unit inside. Then swoop somewhere else and repeat.. the movement gained by being an FMC, and being able to swoop, adds an element of extreme repositioning not normally afforded, even with assault jumping. What do you think?
So what are some other out of the box strategies you have thought of?

1. by the way you worded it, yes (P.100 of the rulebook)
2.Unit not model. The Unit Jinks (P.167 of the rulebook)
3.the drones are also lost.(Coldstar entry, Tau Empire Codex)
Give him a drone controller and a target lock. If you are taking a Kau'yon or TE Hunter Contingent, he can function as a Mark'o for some drones, then shoot at a different target.

The way i like running the Meh coldstar is in the hunter contingent, since units/vehicles can run/flatout and shoot as normal within 12" of commander or fireblade, i have the commander swoop and move up with several piranhas, who can cross the board turn 1, and shoot side armor with meltas.
in the end its not that competitive, but its fun to move 30" and shoot full bs into guys with melta effect

Not entirely true. The unit jinks, but only the models with the jink special rule are forced to snapshot. Same deal if you put a marine biker hq in with some infantry. If he jinks, they don't suddenly get 4+ cover (but the guy on the bike does, because he's jinking).

Unit jinking just prevents you from going "This one is jinking, but not the others" if they dont have the rule at all then they dont benefit or get hurt by jink rules.
Lots of things like that. For instance, our gun drones in non-jetpack squads are not denied assault movements, but it doesnt do much since unit coherency is a thing.
