Hey guys so I am a bit confused here, I think GW is letting drunks or just hired a bunch of new people take over. Here is my story

So ordered arachon lord of endtimes, chosen of chaos exalted dude on thing ect ect.

After 5 days a item arrives oh goodie right? Nope I got a box full of eldar and a chaos rhino. Called them up and tell them they said keep it and we will send out your order and contact him.
Two days later another parcel arives with more eldar stuff and some paints. Again I call them tell them see if they want me to ship it back they say keep it. So goodie more freebies.
Now this monday a parcel arrives woth my arachon I cheer am happy and start to build it.
Today another item arrives the original arachon.......

So in total I got 2 arachon, a bunch of eldar stuff and a bunch of paints...... What the hell is going on..

P.s. Mike I got your stuff. Order better colours next time please.

This isn't even remotely exclusive to GW.

It's literally cheaper for them just to send out a whole new box than pay for return postage. It's also good customer service. Enjoy your freebies

My best was I got four mispacked and/or miscast eldar weapon platforms with overlapping problems. On the fourth I gave up and just built them, decided I'd gotten more than my money's worth and would cobble together the missing bits on my cheap weapons.

Not only, but dealing with models sent via mail back to a warehouse is a pain computer wise.

I'm just a little confused as to why, if you are going to order stuff online, you don't order somewhere where you get a discount.

Well, some stuff is web order exclusive. I know it was when I ordered close to 40 Wood Elf Wardancers since they were metal. And, please don't judge people for where they want to buy their models from, it's not your money to spend.

Everyone has the right to do what they please with their money, everyone else has the right to an opinion on it.

If you're going to share the former, you should expect people to feel the right to express the latter.

Some places throw in exclusives or cool extra bits, or that's just the only place you can get that item.

For example warlord gives you a special character model for any books you buy that you can't get anywhere else.

I've heard of places like Victoria Lamb and Mad Robot throwing in freebies as well.

I often wonder what goes on in order packing. I recently ordered some knight bases to my local store, and they sent them all in individual massive GW branded grip top bags, inside another, inside my order bag.
I can only conclude someone was very very bored.

I'm guessing no one here has worked in warehouse then?

We sent out a dead field mouse living in a shoe. Apparently was the kid's birthday. His mate stayed dead in the middle of the warehouse untill someone "important" moved it. That's just one story, the Amazon ones are pretty funny too XD

I have, for three weeks at the Curry's depot in Newark. I was in the shipping office, got absolutely no training, then accidentally nearly got both my line managers fired when I couldn't read a poorly written docit and sent the Bristol shipment to Dublin.

Didn't get a goodbye card when I left, and I think they opened the bubbly after.

I doubt anywhere online could offer over a 100% discount.

I have. Several warehouses and more years than I care to count. Logisitical crisis management (aka the stock foulup resolution guy).

Pickers get off days. Restock crew put wrong item into location. Manual stock pickers go to location, get x of y (what's supposed to be there) but get z (because restock crew have misread location (they've put it into A10E01 instead of A10E02). Customer gets wrong goods and goes WTF?
Quite a common one.

And yeah, stock returns are a PITA. You have to get the pickup arranged, you have to audit the stuff when it comes back, re-enter it into the system and adjust stock levels, then someone like me got the order and had to send you the right stuff. Sometimes the foulup worked in your favour, and they were going to order that stuff anyway ... so you just invoice them for those goods and ship what their first order was supposed to be).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

What made it funnier was that I got the job through a sort of sister in law (my sister was with her kids' dad), who I'd never met. She was/is a proper big wig in the company, hence why I was in the warm shipping office, and not out picking in the freezing cold. They assumed we were family, and didn't dare bollock me for what had happened, in fact, they were kind of apologizing whilst trying to impress the message that if it happened again, they'd be out on the street. On my last day, she popped into the office, and I recognized her straight away as she looked exactly like her daughters. We had a quick chat, and the look on my managers' faces when she left and they knew she wouldn't have cared if they'd just sacked me instead of taking the flak themselves was priceless.

Once upon a time, GW was notorious for having bad pickers - this was back in the late eighties and early nineties.

Then they started cracking down, and got a whole lot better.

But mistakes do still happen - in this case, given two similar mispackagings... it sounds like somebody wrote the order down by hand, and somebody else had a hard time reading it.

The Auld Grump - if you have ever seen my own signature, my name is Illegible Scrawl... pleased to meet you.

I generally order direct from GW I get it shipped to the GW shop It helps there margin and it keeps a company i obviously like in business, i get little collectible freebies and if it broke or wrong i get awesome service and fast delivery times. If you buy from a 3rd party you may not get treated the same. Ive got good discounts but the time ive waited for stuff or just not got the stuff at all has put me off now i only order direct.

Where do you think the mail order troll name came from ? It wasn't clever branding. Back in the glory days when you could ring up mail order and they would send out a free poster of the month that had all the new releases and offers on it i once had one where they had drawn giant boobs and willys on every model .

You know, if you are going to complain about getting all the free stuff, I can PM you my address to send them to, I will gladly pay for shipping.

Honestly, WHY CAN'T THIS EVER HAPPEN TO ME?!?!?! The only thing that ever happened like this is when my Baal Predator came with no instructions, they sent me a PDF of them. Woo Hoo!
