I mean they have pretty nice pectoral armor... Maybe there have been female stormcast all along but Sigmar believes in 'one-size-fits-all' when it comes to armor. Or maybe it's don't-ask-don't-tell... At any rate, a valkyrie-esque unit along the lines of prosecutors would be pretty cool, maybe something to do with granting buffs or triggering abilities when other stormcast die within range. But now I am just wishlisting. Getting pretty excited for the next book at any rate.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Next question: do they experience gender dysphoria?

Has anyone tried just shoving female heads on Stormcast, and seeing how it looks? I saw on Twitter someone that combined Bretonnian heads with Stormcasts, to make a really interesting looking Bret-themed AoS force.

For me, personally, it's because the last book had almost all of the important bits of Wood Elfiness done as a result of a forest spirit interfering--and during the End Times they went out of their way to emphasize the spiteful and untrustworthy nature of the Dryads and some of the Treemen who had an axe to grind with the Elves(no pun intended). They were setting this up then I think and I'm really glad they followed through.

To use an example: the Wood Elf heroes Naestra and Arahan were a single child who got lost in a portion of Athel Loren they shouldn't have, a forest spirit split them into two halves of the same person.
Why? Because the child got lost in a portion of Athel Loren they shouldn't have.

It's a circular logic and emphasizes how the forest spirits are like petulant children.

That all makes sense. There is certainly an interestingly diverse range of 'good' in the Order faction, with crazies like Khaine-Cult and Devoted rubbing shoulders with mercenaries like the Freeguild and Fyreslayers and knightly types like the Order Draconis and Stormcasts...

I need more info on this Warhammer Quest AoS revamp. As long as I can keep Sigmarines out of the game (in my own personal game-verse), I can't wait.

They get reforged but retain (or gain?) masculine features like broad shoulders and so on?

Hmmm. Seems a bit of a lazy cop out to me! If the plan had always been for them to be reforged into something genderless and inhuman, shouldn't the model range look a little more androgynous to give that impression?

Female Stormcast models could be cool - a Valkyrie style might work pretty well. GW probably won't do it though. Their track record with female minis is pretty poor.

I imagine sigmars got a big pot he boils the heroes up in,

then he pours the resultant goo into stormcast armour modelled on himself

I imagine female Stormcast to be like female guardsmen - I.e. Non-existent miniature wise with the occasional passing mention in the fluff only to hint at their existence.

I am really excited for the boardgame. I don't think it's gonna be much like Warhammer Quest though - seems other users have put words into the mouths of the rumour mongerers there - Hastings mentioned it was more some sort of pit-fighting game.

Maybe the board shows a single level of the tower and as the characters advance higher more difficult enemies are introduced but the board essentially never changes? That's my guess.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Haha! Well, when I heard Tzeentch were the bad guys that was a minor disappointment already. A revamp of WHQ - a full on dungeon crawl game that had rules for the ENTIRE AoS range would be like printing money for GW. It would probably be better than AoS actually lol. Seems GW are keen to make something off the wall and quirky instead though. Still, excited to see it :-)

And there is where we are going to have to disagree. IMO they should not have launched AoS without more in the pipeline for the first six months than Stormcast and Khorne. I'm not saying they had to have a dozen complete armies read on day one, but a few things for more armies would have IMO generated a lot more interest among a broader range of players. There was some talk that with the move to downloadable scrolls for everyone instead of traditional army books, that GW might move to a more Privateer Press style release schedule. Instead of releasing whole new set of miniatures for each army every 5-10 years, they release a few things for every army each year.

Now, Stormcast were totally new so they needed to roll out a whole army for them. Khorne though? I think they would have been better off releasing the new Chaos stuff from the starter box set, then release a few new elf figures to go with the legacy elf miniatures, a few new human figures to go with the legacy human miniatures, etc. etc.

Y'know I actually like the Stormcast look and would love to see a female take on them.

Something like Maria from Metropolis I imagine.

If GW won't do it maybe Wargames Exclusive?

I'm agreeing in the first roll-out. I was lucky to see and get Fyreslayers but they really should have previewed the world better beyond legacy scrolls. Elf players still ... What? The order book is nice, hopefully Godbeasts gives us some infantry at the very least. Yeah, I feel for my fellow order players.

This is what I mean about words being put in the mouths of the rumor mongers, as I didn't see Hastings nor Sad Panda mention it being called "Warhammer Quest" but instead this being the inference of the user who created a new thread on Warseer. Unless I am mistaken, and I'll take it back - but haven't seen either of them say it's called "Warhammer Quest".

Not Hastings or SP but from what darnok has been told... which implies it's pretty reasonable information.

Well, that's good to hear. I want this to be Warhammer Quest more than anything - or the start of a Warhammer Quest series of board games. I just don't think from the rumours we've heard it sounds much like the Warhammer Quest we know but I am happy to be proved wrong.

A hodgepodge of different races going into a big old chaos tower. Sounds pretty questy to me.

But yes, a series of different places to adventure and different heroes would be great.

Bottle: Mantic's Dungeon Saga is a decent stab at a "quest" style game. Worth checking out.

Well it has been far too long since Tzeentch got some new and interesting models. A keeper of secrets, or other big deamon of Tzeentch has me in high hopes that we are about to see something really spectacular on the mode front. Please oh please.

Re female Stormcast I'd be opposed to boob plate or putting all of them in a special unit. Sigmar cherry picked/abducted the best and bravest from the mortal realms. Any female warriors would look less like a playboy bunny and more like a MMA fighter, and that's before they are reforged and given a magic suit of full plate armour with sculpted pecs and abs. Unless GW start modelling them without helms the fluff is the best way to show female Stormcast.

Fem Stormcast aside. The example given of an entire royal household getting reforged and then fighting together as a warrior chamber could make for an interesting dynamic with the varying levels of memory loss and disassociation from there mortal lives.

Are you serious? The answer is obvious.
Branding.
GW wants to establish a brand new setting. Parts of the old, but mostly new. They want to add a whole new faction as the poster boys, the "protagonists' and need a clearly defined antagonist. It would not do well for GW to have a largely incomplete line of Protagonists for their brand new setting.
Hence, the reasons why Stormcast vs chaos has been done so much. Also, more likely than not Khorne has been the flavor of late because they are convenient bad guys. It's easy and identifiable, but other chaos flavors are less obvious. "Wait, so those guys are just really sick? And that's why they're evil?"

They could have done that without half a year of Chaos and Stormcast all the time. Sure if their aim were to rebrand as Chaos vs. Stormcast Wars then that sounds like a solid plan. The eliminated WHFB (that was about 10 to 20% of their sales if I remember correctly) and pushed off LotR into Specialist games. They should have some leftover production capacity to create something besides Stormcast all the time. They are a 100+mil company and should be able to manage that. What use is one full faction if you have nothing else to buy and play against? I'm exaggerating a bit here, they released a few things that are not Stormcast or Chaos but overall they are again pushing in that old scheme of released mainly one faction at a time (two now) while the rest of us just get stuff discontinued (before AoS we could at least buy something).

How much of the supposedly lackluster sales was caused by people waiting for something besides Khorne/Stormcasts? Some new orcs, goblins, elves, beastmen, skaven, or actual humans would would have been nice. They are not selling the Model T of miniature games: "You can have any army as long as it's Stormcasts or Khorne".

You're acting like the decision to drop the kits was just made last week, when it most likely was made at the same time they decided to replace WHFB with AOS.

Yeah, there really is no need for it. And female Stormcasts are not confirmed. Men and women get REFORGED into Stormcast Etnerals. There is no mention if they keep their sex. They are no longer normal human beings.

Aye sure, of course, they're sexless non-humans who just happen to look like muscly male humans in sculpted muscly armour

The working title in the studio is or was Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower.

Will it be the final product name? I don't know.

The concept is a dungeon crawl in an ever-changing labyrinth of Tzeentch, slaying Horrors (that just turn into more, smaller Horrors) and other creatures of Tzeentch.
