What isn't clear though is that if this guy is true remake, he is also tiny. The wolfs at least have the benefit of being modern large sized marines, this guy, if hes like the original, has a head height that reaches about as high as the nipples on my sanguinary guard.

He's not a completely true remake. The original had a slightly different gun for example, and I'm not sure it had the rebreather hoses. It's gonna be the current size.

Bloody hell its a cool model but i dont know if i can do 30$ us (ish?) for it.

Even the 25th Anniversary model had a banner and large scenic base to go with it.

Price aside - I'm not sold on it. The weapon and legs are simply a little too cluttered for my liking. Perhaps I just don't appreciate the Rogue Trader/RTB01 era enough...

It always makes me laugh a little at people moaning about GW prices like its something new.

They've always been super expensive compared to other model producers.

For a hyper limited edition that's only available for two days, it could have been a lot more expensive.

It's a nice, nostalgic figure but the price means that I won't be picking one up.

It's a really really nice model in my opinion, but I don't think I'll be getting it. I recently got 11 very nice marine minis in my DW:OK set that I have to do first.

This is a single plastic model being released at the same price point that a full Tactical Squad was at just a few years ago. That's not just expensive compared to other model producers, it's downright ridiculous by any metric.


Being a 'hyper limited edition' would justify that somewhat if the model was something really special, but it's not. It's a nice remake of a classic model, but there's nothing about it that screams 'awesome commemorative model'.

Yeah, £18 for a character model is a little steep. £18 for an infantry model with the detail of a character model? I like it, I just don't see where it fits into a collection that isn't just a collection of individual space marines.

The BA Sanguinary Priest is £18 which hs got to be the craziest price for a mini (although it's 'only' NZ$40).

But its not particularly a character nor can it really be used as a stand in for anything.

looks awesome in my opinion but there is a breaking point in price.

It's cool. But overpriced. And I can do without it.

The price isn't out of kilter with what they are charging for other single figure clam packs. They've been charging Circa £15-20 for clampacks for what 18 months? 2 years?

So why all the righteous indignation and suprise? Did everyone expect them to be giving it away for a fiver?

Bro i dont think anyone is surprised at all. many people are probably disappointed. and certainly at the prices its at many people wont buy it. especially if its unavailable to discount retailers.

Though if the price doesn't bother you then feel free to buy one.

Are we sure this is all that is coming? Just one figure would be one of the weakest release weeks for ages. It doesn't create the impression of a celebration of all things space marine.

It's the "event exclusive" model for GW stores. It likely will not be available outside of their stores, which are running events for that day.

I don't mind paying 30 bucks or whatever it is CAD (probably 35 lol) but add to that 20 bucks mandatory shipping and then it starts to suck pretty hard. I wouldn't even mind paying the get it free amount, but the truth is after buying 2 deathwatch boxes a month ago I don't really need or want anything else... so... buy a 55 dollar model (shipped) I do want, or buy 180 bucks of crap I don't want to get the model free lol... ugh.

For the price though, it is line with other single model clam packs... if it isn't 'special enough' as a model, well, they can't faithfully reproduce the very first SM model and also completely change it lol. One or the other. Vs the original, looks pretty spot on to me.

I have a feeling there may be more to this event than just this one mini though... will see I guess!

As a thanks to years of customers buying overpriced plastic miniatures, yes it would have been a great marketing ploy, but alas GW will be GW

You're assuming people accept those other clampack prices are reasonable and pay them.

I like it. It's a cool model with a ridiculous price. I might even end up getting it depending on how it's offered as a freebie...

Man, at $30 USD, I am going to have a hard time justifying a Marine that is not aesthetically matching any of my other marines. He does look cool and would be best to have, but the fact I am probably not going to be able to get him is less heart breaking. I am curious what deals I might be missing out on though.
