Man its awesome to see GW remaking all of these old games, I feel like the change in leadership has been a boon for variety.

Kilkrazy wrote:From the looks of the first pic GW have redone the old cardboard stand-up gravestones as plastic pieces. With some new designs!
Amazingly, it might be cheaper for GW now to mould intricate designs like the Celtic Cross or the Angle of Death in plastic than create elaborate cutters for cardboard.
Of course it's more to paint, but it's pretty easy to do gravestones by a basecoat and dry-brushing. It's worth varnishing too, given the amount of handling they get when you start throwing them around.
I really want to see if the Andy Chambers and Squat tombstones Wired mentioned are plastic or just background artwork.
I'm on the fence, I mean I don't NEED more models and if I was getting anything Deathwatch: Kil! Kil! Kil! would be my pick. But that kind of dark humor and snark might must win me over. Plus the Dwarf with a blunderbus would make a great tech priest. Maybe someone will sell the tombstones as bits.

I don't really see where this fits in the market considering how saturated things are, but I guess GW exists in a world of its own. The rules seem a bit more fluid compared to other systems already out there, which is interesting I suppose. Call me a cynic, but nostalgia may not hold this one up, even if it brings a wee tear to our older members.
Was Thrud still going when this came out? Just wondering if they did a crossover that week for this like they did for Trolls in the Pantry?

No pleasing some people now is there?
I'm all for more diversity myself, I could do with more stuff from GW, especially at my own store, where it's hard as hell to get people to play something that isn't GW. Must be something in the water or something, they're so skittish when it comes to stuff that isn't from the hallowed halls of Nottingham.
I think Thrud was last seen in the White Dwarf around '87, but don't quote me on that please, as I just did a quick Google to check and was at that stage still banging toy cars together.

People please remember rules 1 and 2, be polite and stay on topic.
I've removed several comments throughout the thread about the Amazon Priestess, the artwork and her 'special attack' they were just in bad taste.
If you really want to discuss this subject there's a long thread in Dakka Discussions for matters like that.
In the meantime if anyone sees the Wired Article back up or can repost the original images please do so, kind of hard to talk about a game with nothing but some blurry pictures to go on.

Certain people seem to have forgotten, or perhaps are too junior cof! cof! young to remember, that before all the 40K gaems like Pace Crusade, GW did a load of non-40K games such as Judge Dredd, Blok Wars and Talisman, and that's the era that Skull Krushers fits in. The good old days, with Thrudd and everything, before GW got all gothic and one-track. These games were very well received at the time, and once again I regret having sold off my copies in the ill-fated great shed clearance of they early 2000s. Young whippersnappers.

Oh wow, this cropped up while I was on vacation.. Those pictures make my eyes bleed though.
I've gotta say... if this is a $100 20 miniature game with a hand full of tiles, I'll be giving it a pass. I've got heroes, skeletons, and tiles for days spread across tons of games.
If the price is more sane than that, I might give it a look though.

At least the models should be decent. The Deathwatch and Space Hulk models were amazing, so worst case scenario, we should get something to use with Frostgrave.
I wouldn't really expect a rerelease of Warhammer(or Age of Sigmar) Quest until around the holidays. They can maximize their sales around Black Friday/Christmas, instead of trying to squeeze blood from a stone during the Spring/Summer period.
Or they could hold on to it until they start getting into dire straights, like many people rumored Horus Heresy plastics to be.
I feel like Warhammer Quest MAY have been promoted to the new "break glass in case of emergency" product. Just a hunch.
That said, if they really, REALLY invested in Warhammer Quest, and integrated Age of Sigmar somehow... they would finally have me by the balls. I LOVE the idea of obscenely huge tables of enemy encounters/spawns/events/loot, and it might even get me to pick up a steady drip of Age of Sigmar releases if each were also integrated into a proper campaign game.

Same. I think a lot of the AoS stuff would play well into a Warhammer Quest type game.

How old is Warhammer Quest anyway at this stage? Maybe they're saving it up for when it reaches a certain age?
In the meantime they can keep on (re-)releasing these stand-alone games for some time to come, they fill a nice niche actually and this may be the first fantasy board game in a long, long time for me. If anything, the miniatures and tiles will at the very least be a massive step up from the cheap junk I got with Dwarf Kings Hold.

Heh, that shows just how much Games Workshop themselves cared for the game if it was sidelined for third party stuff. I guess with the number of IPs they had going at the time someone felt like sneaking this one through the door. We'll we see how that went...

This is new to me, I must have missed it first time around in '87. There were no plastic miniature games at the time and the 3D Roleplay tag was first seen a bit later on the Dark Future and Bloodbowl games in about 89-90.
The artwork is the WHFB 2nd edition cover and the graphics would be very poor for GW at the time. All in all the cover looks intentionally dated.

Man, they may want to spread out this goodwill over a little more time.

What?!
That's terrible!
Why would someone pass off Gitsplitta's work as a GW leak?
Who would even do something like that! Automatically Appended Next Post: OK this is bad news.
I'm now hearing that GW may cancel the rerelease and throw out the copies they've already printed!
You don't think this is because of the Wired leak do you?
I mean I know they like their secrecy but that would be insane!

That WD pic is supposed to be an advert? By chance, I've got WD96 to hand and that's page 79. The game box cover isn't there, the ad says "Available from good games shops everywhere" in that space.
The map on the other page/side of the pic is part of a stormbringer scenario, set in karlaak.

Cancelled through disinterest maybe... Though if they put all the work into getting to this point it seems like a bit of a waste. Supposedly the models were new, and if they were then I guess we'll just be seeing them cannibalized into other games. What use fantasy models are to GW these days is anyone's guess.
