All I want to do is make a 7th Edition Codex Space Marines army list and I have to run around for hours trying to find a tutorial that doesn't involve downloading other programs.

Welcome to the internet.

BS is quite easy to use once you wrap your head around it.

First go to their website and download the latest data for 40K

Then in Battle scribe import the data and press the plus sign, add name, points limit, game system, forces then press the tick at the top.

then you can add units and such.

They don't have 40k data. Fiddling about, I got 7th editions game system up, but it doesn't like my SM .catz file or githubs repository link.

....I don't know if I'm using a different version but I found it really easy to get started.

Download app, follow instructions to get 40k data, click "create roster" and add detachments, then add units.

Again, unhelpful, considering there are four different programs that make up battlescribe and it doesnt like any catz files i put in.

BS uses .bsi for the main data and .rosz for your saved army lists.

Right, what do I open all this crap with? There are four windows and the help page does not specify what window to use with what file?

I have the 7th Edition game system, the SM catalog, but it won't open the catalog or any of the repository urls on github.

I might just be really stupid but I am totally confused.

I have looked on every simgle one of those links. They do not tell me what I need to know and some even have conflicting information.

I'm sorry but I haven't a bloody clue what half of what they're on about means.

Obviously my only downfall is a repository, but my issue is, GitHub doesn't say what bit to copy for a repository and Battlescribe keeps telling me I cant load the .catz file for 7th Space Marines.

I need the url, but which url? What bit to copy?

I ask because there is diffrences between the desktop version and the mobile one

Windows 10 on a tablet works identical to PC provided you have mouse and keyboard.

Here is an honest step by step guide.

-Forget githup never come back to that site for the next few years especially if you are a professional programmer.

- Click on my previous link.

- Click on downloads, download the correct version.

- Go back to my link

- Click on the first link under in the "datafile part"

- Download the correct file.

- Run the fist downloaded file.

- open the other file with the just installed program.

File -> import data file

I won't lie, battlescribe was a little fiddly and took a bit of doing for me to get it to work.

But go through the steps on their help section, or by old zoggy's instructions, and once you get it going it's a great program.
