I am musing the idea of getting a Leviathan Dreadnought but not sure how to kit it up. Playing salamanders I wanted something at the back constantly harassing so the dual storm cannon would be good but not great against heavies.
How are people kitting their leviathans?

Considering the Leviathan is clearly built as an assault vehicle, with a maximum weapon range of 24", I'd say "at the back" is exactly the wrong place for it unless you have a lot of trouble with infiltrators….
Pretty much every time I've seen one played, the people who don't drive it forward get the least use from it, either because it gets stuck out of range of the real fight, or because it never gets into close combat.
That said, my favourite load-out is grav-mortar and siege drill with volkites for maximum flexibility. Nothing ruins peoples"s days like having an entire terminator squad disappear, only to be replaced by a large enough area of dangerous terrain that it kinda has to be avoided.
With sufficient points though, a pair working together, one with drill+claw and one with dual grav, can be utterly amazing. Just watch out for neutron lasers.

I agree with this, especially since the Leviathan has loads of rules for close combat.
I personally would go for the storm cannon and the siege claw which I think is a decent all rounder.

I recently faced a Death Guard Reaping list with one of those claw+storm leviathans and let me tell you this much, that thing was VICIOUS.
It held up my Lorgarstar for three rounds of combat and killed three Gal Vorbak!

What the thoughts on a Leviathan Dreadnought in a dreadnought drop pod with 2x storm cannons?
On paper it looks awesome, drop in fire 12x Str 7 AP 3 sunder shots being protected by the open topped drop pod from interceptor fire/other sides shooting turn.
Then next turn gets to fire again 12 times......as odds are unless they dump everything they have on the drop pod and the dreadnought it has a good chance of still being there turn 2....esp since the pod has shrouded the turn it drops.
Seems a nice way to dump 24x STR 7 AP3 sundering shots right into the enemy lines, and basically something they will have to deal with asap. Not to mention the vulkite shots which are a threat to infantry and side armor vehicles.

Go ask the Forgotten Legion guys. They will vouch for the "Deathblossom" Pattern Leviathan all the live long day . Personally, I'm going to pick up a Double Grav bombard+Volkite+Phosphex Dread, and name it the "Demi-God Slayer" pattern, since it's meant to kill the retinue's of primarchs and such but likely won't do much to the big bads themselves. I plan to pick up two severing claws at a later date, because stabbing is cool.

As of recent I give mine the Siege Claw and, now, the Cyclonic Melta Lance.
Put him in a Drop Pod and damn... Especially if you decide to use 3...

Cheers for the ideas guys. Just puts me off doing salamanders in drop pods lolol although been musing Raven guard.
All pods and infiltrators and dropping even one of these might make things ugly.
I haven't painted any of my BaC box so been thinking of making them Raven guard

I personally ordered the melta gun claw and storm cannon for my raven guard because they have anti infantry pretty well covered with their special units but are lacking in anti armor

Fiery Bright Wizard

well, I have 3 (all magnetized)
most common load out: Claw + Grav + volkite + phosphex This loadout makes him pretty great at dealing with primarch blobs... and just about any infantry + most tanks really
loadout 2: Knight Hunter: claw+drill+ phosphex. Obvious: either charge and go first with your HoW + 5 armorbane drill attacks, OR use your phosphex to cripple the knight if HE charges.

If you want a back line dread, grab a doredo with plasma and missiles.
I tend to run storm+claw and rush in with it.
I've got it magnetised and have the other options, but I like the best of both world.
2 storm cannons shreds marines all day long but it's short ranged so you need something for a bit of punch in CC.
