Howdy Folks!

SkirmishGames.com is the new site for Gangfight Games and the home of our new open-ended & free ruleset. You can download the core rules + fantasy supplement now, and we’ll be adding more genres to it soon.

I’ll be using this new post to share news and featured article excerpts about gang building, gaming tips and also previews of new models too. We also have new Facebook and Twitter pages if you’d like to follow those too! So, let’s begin with our first Gang Building article:

Building Your First Fantasy Guild

Building gangs is easy! In this first Gang Building post, we will show you how to take a handful of miniatures and turn them into a powerful fighting force. The first thing you will need to do is select a few of your favorite miniatures. Five models is usually a good size an average 400 Fame Point game.

The photo above represents our first Fantasy Guild, The Town Watch, using miniatures from Dungeon Saga from Mantic Games. From left to right, we have Artax the Barbarian, Nalassa the Elven Archer, Lord Grayson of the City Guard, the young wizard Michael and Sister Philomena.

When you start building your characters, just take a look at your miniatures, and figure out how you would like them to be equipped and what skills they should have. Let’s show you how we did it, starting with Lord Grayson, the leader of the Guild.... Read more at SkirmishGames.com!

The editor in me of course only sees the typos... but that is because I've been doing that job for WAY too long. :-p Instead, let me just thank you. More good rule-sets, and free ones no less, only make our hobby better and more diverse!

Thanks!

And yes there will be some typos it’s still in playtest mode anyway. I will be paying a real proofreader toward the end when we start working on printed books. Right now I just want to get it out there so to speak.

For the next update I am probably going to separate the fantasy rules into their own add-on PDF, and then work on adding the next supplement, “Steampunk & Westerns” .. but that will take a little while to put together.

Sci Fi will be #3 It's probably going to have a lot of content, and will include mechs too. As far as the rules go, mechs will basically just be treated like suits of armor granting you extra health, but will also allow you to equip heavy weapons. Heavy weapons are just like normal ones, only they do 2 HP worth of damage per wound instead of 1.

I wanted to start with Fantasy since that will be like the foundation to build off of. All of the supplements are designed to work together too, so like if you wanted an Eldar gang you can use the elf stats, but give them sci fi guns & skills.

The full gameworld rulebooks will be more self contained though, everything you need to play that game will be in it's book. Lair of the Wurmqueen will be our Fantasy gameworld and that will be the first book, so that's also why I want to get the core fantasy rules going first

Gak that... I'll do it for free when you need it. I'm happy to, and have done it professionally, and in this specific industry for ten-plus years now. :-p Just send me a message.

We’ve gotten a many requests to bring rules for the Savage Beasts from Blackwater Gulch into our new Fantasy rules, so here they are!

These Beasts now make up the 4th Fantasy faction. We’ve added many “Animal Affinities” to cover a lot of the more common fantasy creatures out there. For example, a Minotaur would use the Bull affinity, a Centaur would use the Horse affinity, a Satyr would use the Goat affinity, and so on.

Visit SkirmishGames.com to read more and download the updated rules!

Howdy folks!

We are planning a new Kickstarter for Blackwater Gulch sometime this summer, we're getting some new minis sculpted now. Here is the first preview, Janey Bower, a Moonshiner and member of the monster hunting gang, The Unsung. This is a WIP shot, she still needs a lot of details, but she's well on her way.

Also, like us on Facebook if you'd like to follow along with the progress, We'll be posting more pictures more frequently over there

Part of me would prefer dynamite to molotovs, not just because dynamite actually existed in the "old west" period (glass incendaries are spanish civil war era, 1936-39), but because it just looks more badass, but I get it, moonshine grenades.

I love virtually everything else about the render.

Thanks

Sculptor's been busy. Just got some updated screenshots moments ago, lots more detail added now.

Also got the files for the Jackalope, I'll do some renders and post pics of him tonight or tomorrow.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh and, yes you can also toss dynamite She's got bottles of booze since she's a moonshiner, prospectors and miners usually the ones that have sticks of dynamite to play with

Got the Jackalope files, so here is an updated render showing him with the Werebear and Nightshade again. This time I turned off the forced perspective so you can see the sizes better

That is a really nice sculpt! In the old west those weren't called "Molotov cocktails", were they?

I don't think they were called moltov cocktails till later on, like maybe one of the world wars? In BWG they call it a Burnin' Bottle of Booze, but that's too long so I was planning to just change it to Firewater in the 2.0 rules

Strange question but how are the bottles attached to her belt?

She looks really cool.

Her dress is equipped with space age polymer tendrils woven into the fabric, allowing glass to adhere to her clothing!

Actually it would probably be a piece of string or something wrapped around the bottle and the belt. I can see if they can add a strap or something around the bottles

I really like that female fire water chucking mini. The best part is I imagine she is lighting the rag with her cigarette (still in her mouth because she is a Bad@ss )

Do you have a release date or a price in mind? I'll find a use for her in one of my armies or games.

She won’t be available for a little while unfortunately. We’re planning to do a Kickstarter probably in July or August. She will be part of a 4-mini starter pack for the new gang, The Unsung. There will also be a new Beast starter pack and an undead starter pack. The campaign will be to fund the production of those 3 sets, but since the sculpts will be done ahead of time the production afterwards shouldn’t take much longer.

I assume the name originated around WW2, after Soviet foreign minister Molotov.

Sounds good. I like the sound of the undead gang as I have been playing Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare recently. Free rules you say as well eh.....

Yes, rules are free Well, electronic version is free, if you want a book that will cost you. But, once my current supply is sold out I’m planning to switch over to print-on-demand through Wargame Vault. Unless the Kickstarter goes amazingly well and we end up able to fund a nice printed hardback rulebook, but honestly right now I’d rather focus on just getting lots of cool minis done.

I’m getting the concepts done for the undead faction now. They will be based on the Wendigo tribes, basically native American versions of vampires, along with some revenant gunslingers and zombie minions. Here’s a Wendigo, Zombie and Rake.. I’ll share newer art when I get it
