Subject: Dakka (unofficial) Monthly Painting Challenge - The 2016/17 League Table
Hello again everyone, in March 2015 Paradigm started the unofficial monthly painting contest. It's goal was to get DakkaDakka members to paint up their miniatures for fun and gentle rivalry. The group is supportive and constructive. Inspiration is drawn from each member and a feeling of enthusiasm is nurtured. So come and join in
So here we have the League Table for Paradigm's unofficial painting challenge here on Dakka. The League table is below and shows the votes received each month for the participants and the overall percentage of the total votes that they received over the year.
The coloured cells are to show the top 5 placed entrants for each month
1st - Red
2nd - Orange
3rd - Yellow
And here are the links to the year's challenge threads and the top three placed entrants:
March 2016 - Space Marines!
Spoiler:
In joint 3rd place, we have:
jah-joshua's Iron Warriors Consul
And
Paradigm's Salamanders Centurion
In second place,
Snotcatcher's Ultramarines Captain
And in first, Januine Blood Angels Terminator!
And here is the League Table after March's results:
Ta once again for volunteering to do the numbers, TP!
Just to clarify on the scoring this year for everyone, points are being awarded based on the percentage of Votes received on a month by month basis, so if your entry gets 3% of the votes one month, and 5% the next month, you get 3 and 5 points respectively. Actual placing will be determined by the exact number of votes to make ties as uncommon as possible (though ironically third was tied in the end this month!), but it's the percentage that matters for League Points.
Hope that makes! Last year we had 127 individual entrants in the League, let's see if we can top that over the next 12 months!

now, here's hoping a nice big relic-tank will get me some more votes Beyond that, you have a LOT more patience and commitment then I do to be willing and able to do this
I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

I haven't actually got around to it yet, but I will do it at some point, it's something I'd like to see done as it would make tracking the League a lot easier.I'll keep you guys posted as and when there is any news.

We have a bit of shifting in the top 5:
Jah-Joshua rises from joint 3rd to the top spot
That pushes Januine down to second
Midget Gems climbs from 4th to 3rd
Paradigm dips down to 4th place
Nordicus climbs up to 5th place after two consistent performances both outside of the top 5
Well done all.
26 entrants have entered on both weeks.
12 new entrants this month so welcome all. The highest placed of these was obviously Zach who had the highest number of votes in April.
I've added the top 3 photos for April in to the OP in the spoiler.
I've also added the League Table as it stood after March's results in with the top 3 for that month.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Big apology alert. Paradigm and I had been talking at crossed purposes about how to score each months entries. Ironically it was useful to have realised this because we both had focused on slightly different aspects that were both important. Para was helping to ease the scoring and to acknowledge the proportion of votes each month, but I was focusing on the votes throughout the year to represent overall performance and was trying to ensure that those at the bottom of the League Table had their efforts recognised.
It's Para's show, but he's been kind enough to take on board some of my points. Therefore we have now got confirmed scoring as follows:
Each month the percentage of votes each participant gets will convert to points, but rather than confusing matters by using decimals, only the integer will be used (i.e. 10.4% = 10 points, 7.6% = 7 points etc). There will be no rounding up of percentages.
To prevent a lack of acknowledging those who have a percentage of votes less than 1%, those users will all receive 1 point. This means that you still increase up the ranks the more you enter.
I hope this is clear and I apologise the change mid-year. The table above shows the votes for the first two months next to the points awarded and the order has been adjusted accordingly. For anyone miffed at dropping places, please note that I dropped by 3 places due to this changes, so it has all been done with fairness in mind.
Any thoughts/comments/queries, please post and we'll try to sort it out.
Thanks again.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Hi again, Januine has just pointed out that according to the poll results he and Jah should have had an extra point. This is because the poll rounds up or down the percentage scores. I used the actual votes to calculate the precise percentages and took the integer.
I hope this clarifies that point.

Spreadsheet is up to date, just getting the screenshots are a pain. The list is bigger than a phone screen now and I can't merge them together easily on the phone. I am trying to get them done. The error post was because I have updated the challenge links and top 3 places photos.
Sorry all

There's a lot of competition for 4th. Consistency is the key. You can see as you go down the table that people have entered less frequently. There's still time to climb too

Looks like my policy of “just showing up” is not enough to get me into the top ten of this system. Although it does look like we have a lot more people regularly participating this time.
Thanks for crunching the numbers and maintaining the list. Fun to read.

Great work TP^DC, I've been dieing to see the update
No surprise as to who's in first but a very close battle for the next 5 places, will be interesting to see how it progresses over the next few months. Its certainly inspired me to get some more painting done despite feeling a bit under the weather, need to keep nibbling at Jans heels
@Jadenim - sorry, don't know what happened there. Corrected on my file and will be there on the next upload.
I'm now going to doubt my accuracy (obsessionalism), but don't have time to go through all the months again If anyone finished an entry and was listed in the voting poll, but the score is missing on the spreadsheet just leave a comment and I will check and amend.

Seriously, thanks for putting in all the effort.
Honestly don't worry. I offered to do this originally because I wanted to make sure everyone got fair representation. If I've missed someone off, it ain't fair (plus I have a perfectionist nature, I'm always like the this).
