So the new Angels of Death book is coming next week. What are people's guesses as to the new stuff in it?

My guess is Librarius will have just one power worth taking.

One of the bonuses in the Sternhammer Strike Force will be Close Range Bolter Drill. Rather than being an either or, Imperial Fists will benefit from both Bolter Drill and Close Range Bolter Drill.

What guesses do you have?

I'd expect the Fists will get a 9th Co Task Force as an Aux for their Sternhammer TF. I would also expect one of the Command Bonuses for the TF to be that every IC gets Bolster Defence.

Iron Hands may get something like all their vehicles get PotMS.

Sallies will likely get a Relic meltagun or flamer and a Relic thunderhammer.

expecting to see an Earthquake power form Geomancy, Fists will probably have some kind of Heavy Support Auxiliary with Devestators and Centruions, REALLY hoping that IHs get a 5+ fnp on their dudes, but not a buff for the +1 to a +2.

I can't wait to use any of it as detached formations for my Ultramarines? And be sad I can't use any of them in a super formation/decurion?

Oh well, I'll have to comfort myself with my Skyhammer + First Company + Shadow Strike Kill Team.

Then again, if there is a formation that just lets you take units of Centurion Devs, I think we found our new cheese. Who needs CADs? I'll take a 9th Co and Librarius to go, please.

I expect to see Devastator/Centurion Devastator/Vindicator formations for the Imperial Fists, the return of close range bolter drill, perhaps on top of the current Bolter Drill, and the base Sternhammer formation for the decurion will be a Demi company with extra Devastators.

Dreadnoughts and Vehicle formations for the Iron Hands. The base decurion Demi company will maybe let the Iron Hands take a Techmarine in place of a Chaplain? And maybe extra Dreadnought Units.

No idea for Salamanders. Perhaps their decurion will let Tactical Squads/Devastator Squads take heavy flamers, but I don't know what they would get to represent them. Terminator formations, perhaps, to represent their artificer skills? Maybe Sternguard formations that are required to take flamers or melta?

Librarius will bring back Null Zone on top of Veil of Time, this beginning the real Feast of Tears. For those of you who don't remember, Null Zone forced all enemies within 12" of the caster to reroll successful Invulnerable saves.

So what you ar saying is you want Iron Hands to have a 4+ FNP in their decurion. Lol.

If there were rules for fortifications in the BRB, I would almost think that Imperial Fists would get the option to take a fortification in the Sternhammer. I fully expect the Sternhammer's Battle Demi-Company derivative to allow Pedro Kantor to be used in place of the Captain (he can in the Pinion Battle Demi-Company and Stormlance Battle Demi-Company, but not the regular Battle Demi-Company for some reason). Perhaps they might get the ability to take a Thunderfire Cannon in the BDC? Otherwise, I definitely expect a formation that allows spamming of Devastator Centurions. The thing is, Grav Cents don't really benefit from the Imperial Fists' Chapter Tactics since the Grav Amp allows rerolls of armor pens and wounds. Who knows if they will address that.

It'll either be something nobody cares about, like 'Models with an Omniscope gain monster hunter', or something stupid broken like units with a signum or omniscope get +1 BS or Ignores cover or something similar.

I don't expect them to care if the formation works for Grav Cents in particular, since I'm pretty sure even they know they are OP, so they might take the opportunity to boost the other variants.

As for the Sternhammer, I would expect Pedro to be an option. But I think the bonus 'thematic' units will be Devastators or Dev Cents. Or looking at the Sentinels of Terra, maybe it
will be the standard 3/1/1 with 1-3 Assault or Devastator Centurions?

I predict that GW as usual has forgotten that Black Templars exist and that no formation will allow Crusader Squads.

You don't have it bad until someone points at your Templar army and says 'Hey, nice Iron Hands army!'. As the reverse happened to a friend who has a beautifully painted IH army.

Besides, they already said Imperial Fist successors are going to get something... Probably just the White Dwarf Warlord Traits, but hey, it's something!

Perhaps regular Devastators will get Split Fire? Or something nuts like Interceptor. As someone that plays against Ravenwing a lot, I wouldn't mind Ignores Cover in the least. If they would boost the Las/Missile variants, I would be all over them. I am not a humongous fan of Grav. Pedro being able to be used in place of a Captain saves me a ton of points. I hope it will be the case. Him paired with a 1st Company Task Force equals a lot of Ob Sec Sternguard running around for me.

I could see them doing something like 3/1/1-3 for the Sternhammer. The one Assault unit would probably be an Assault Squad, Assault Centurion Squad, or a Land Speeder Squadron. The 1-3 Devastator units would be Devastators or Devastator Centurions. They use Assault Centurions, but they still favor Devastators. They would lose bikes as an option, but Imperial Fists don't belong on bikes in the first place!

I am actually thinking Imperial Fists might get a crazy formation for Sternguard. Almost like the Raven Guard in reverse(RG have a good deal of formations with Vanguard Veterans). Think the Shadowstrike Kill Team, but with Sternguard. Where RG favor Jump Pack troops, Imperial Fists favor dudes with bolters.

Salamanders are kinda hard to pinpoint since they don't exactly have much going for them besides melta and flamers. Maybe they will get something like Torrent with flamers and melta at full range. Hard to say what units their formations will likely have. I could see Veteran formations for them too, especially Sternguard toting a Heavy Flamer.

Iron Hands will likely have a boost to their FNP. They will likely be running around with base 5+ FNP on everyone in their detachment. I really hope Smashfether doesn't somehow have the ability to get a 1+ FNP, but it is bound to happen. Being able to take a Techmarine in place of a Chaplain or Captain makes sense. I could see a formation similar to the SW Ancients formation too. A Techmarine plus two squads of Dreadnoughts.

@Crazyterran- no, I want a 5+ . They have a base 6+, I hope it gets buffed without making their alternative "+1 to existing FNP" a +2.

The nasty side effect of that is that Smashfether with Gorgon's Chain running with an Apothecary has what, a 2+ FNP. And the Command Squad is all running with a 3+ FNP. And that is a little nuts.

Maybe giving them a bonus on their IWND would be in order?

Remember, other than the Decurions, the formations are simply for Codex: Space Marines. I'd like to think they think of that when they make the formations, but then again, we live in a world with Ultramarines' Skyhammers and White Scars' Gladius.

And a better Sternguard Formation sounds alright with me, as i pair Sternguard with combi-meltas in pods with a Skyhammer. Preferred Enemy against everything instead of one unit? +1 BS like an aspect host?

Though part of me thinks that, if they include the Tyranid Hunter data slate in the book, they will just call it done for Veterans.

And if they keep the Warlord Trait, 1+ FNP on smashfether. The 2+ won't even be hard to accomplish, a Command Squad with apothecary and a Gorgons Chain would be all he needs, not even the 1/6 to get the 2+.

Just 1/6 to be immune to anything short of Force, S10 and D.

I hear you on the better Sternguard formation. I don't mind the 1st Company Task Force in the least. It gives me a vehicle to field Obsec Sternguard(YAY Pedro!) in a Gladius. I am afraid they might do something like make a formation where Sternguard get free upgrades to a Combi-weapon.

I can't wait until Saturday. Really want to see what I need to buy.

The First Company task force is pretty good with the -2 to Leadership. Especially when combined with other stuff.

And yeah... I'm going to bet, between the IPad/ebook versions, we'll see at least three formations and maybe some warlord traits and Psychcic powers.

There is precedent for Sternguard with free Combi-weapons. There is a Blood Angels formation that gives it out, so it is certainly a possibility. I don't want it because I would have to rearm both of my Sternguard squads. +1 BS would be fine by me. Would be a little nuts, especially if stuff like Close Range Bolter Drill does make a return (Twin-Linked BS5 Rapid Fire weapons).

Usually what we get from the iPad previews is the glossaries, showing the special rules and the like.

Yup, pretty much that. I also hope that techmarines are an option, and maybe librarians (there are a couple of psychic clan leaders so it wouldn't be weird.)

Their Librarians are important though; again a couple of people on their council ate librarians now.

Okay, just because some of the Librarians are council members doesn't mean they are necessarily common enough in them and their descendants command structures that they would replace a Captain or Techmarine on the tabletop.

Maybe the Chaplain though, I guess. But I imagine they would be running around with other Librarians. Thus, a conclave.

skyhammer will become exclusive to salamanders and will be in the book. firespear will also be in the book so when they phase out that box people arent left without access.

they may take some from blood oath like the tip of the spear and the fist of macragge

salamaders relics and formations will be a total wildcard i expect maybe somethings for sternguard, centurions, and tanks because screw making terminators work

Does anyone know if the new Psychic Power disciplines will be listed in this supplement?

I suspect it is going to be mostly a compilation of all the stuff scattered about in box sets and WDs. I doubt there is going to be much new, besides what’s been leaked already.

And I still might buy it for that.

The only chapter people really know for being Psykers is the Blood Ravens.

In A Thousand Sons the Ultramarines, Dark Angels, Blood Angels, Salamanders, and White Scars chief librarians all spoke out in favor of the librarius. I forget where (Index Astartes?) but Corax was noted to not have taken kindly to the Thousand Sons' use of "sorcery" pre-Heresy.

Coincidentally Scarblade can take a Librarius Conclave and Pinion can't.

If I were to guess, I'd say Iron Hands and Imperial Fists may not get it either.

Seeing as Iron Hands do have, again, really influential librarians and a Libby-specific relic, I doubt they'll be without it. Wouldn't surprise me if Fists don't, though.
