I'll show some in there natural habitat, shall I?
Well they're so nice and curvy I wanted to use them for something scratch built for quite some time...

And I am doing this as a kind of homage towards the old times of shower gel bottle tanks

You need spots for two drones?

You could go with the classic Tau hammerhead look, with one on either side of the nose. Might mess up the nice curves though.

Behind and to either side of the “cockpit” bump at the top could work. Put a flat surface on the top back, and the drones on either side.

Love the classic throwback to the grav attack deodorant tank.

The Orgus Grav Attack? Wow, that was 'ancient' history--early '90's when I saw it--in the original Rogue Trader book. (I think. Did it make it into the 2e books? I cannot recall.) It was an old deodorant container. There was an Orgus flyer too.

Vik, What are those pieces on the sides? And if you have more of them, perhaps on the next piece, put them on wings of some sort, so it looks like a VTOL craft. The wings would also provide a place for the drones too.

It made a cameo in the 3rd edition vehicle design rules.

I have a pair of them that I built kicking around somewhere.

That actually looks quite wide. Can I see the drones blutak'd to the bonnet at the widest part side by side. And I would put guns shoulder mounted.

Classic Vik, brilliant.

Not to derail this thread with my horrid attempts, I posted them in the Flashback Friday thread.

I actually had three! Forgot about the green one. A little worse for wear, but a couple decades loose in a box will do that. I also discovered the “how to paint” guide from my first Ral Partha paint set. Should be interesting to read.

The deodorant bottle challenge. Must show your used deodorant bottle before you start. That will eliminate half of the gamers I know as they still have the full deodorant bottles from when they were teenagers

weerrrrlll...

i have finished and submitted m entry for the LoER Terrain competition...now awaiting who will win...

Spoiler:

finished the teleporter entry...

made mostly from ice pop makers and hot glue, and sugar eggs....and painted mostly by inks....these teleporters are meant to be used as gamming pieces....two of these six pieces can be used to hide a model inside...all six are numbered with tau signs and i even made a really small dice with tau numbers on it....the rule for the teleporters is that a model enters the energy beam in the middle and according to the dice it will emerge from the given number then... thus creating a random hide and seek gaming element on the table top...

well...:
WIP pics

and finished

easter eggs...as you´ve stated that you could be bemusedby the addition of easter eggs...

and the dice...

in the mean time i have been busy...making terrain...

i am currently coming up with an idea for a new table...i call it : Storage Wars...well....it is relying heavy on containers, and barrels and boxes of all kinds...thus i started with a little collection of barrels and a first small set of containers...all scratch build by yours truly...and made from wood, cardboard, paper and cork...without any help from any templates and such...but i think overall they look quite convincing...

have a look:

just a simple and plain log...with lots of addition so that it now looks like a container...at least i hope so^^ corrugated cardboard as the surface...and candy floss sticks used for the details...

scaleshot...

all will be fully stackable...

for now there are only fully solid ones...but i guess it is inevitable to have at least a couple of these hollow and open...

then there are the barrels...made from wine corks...(believe me, i didn´t kill all these bottles...i am not a drinking man at all and currently even forbidden as my cholesterol is too high and thus i am living almost as a saint...)

one is broken already to have a little leakage story telling object^^^

all these are in desperate need for paint...which wish will be granted soon as my son oskar is eager to help me and all this was planned as easy to paint terrain pieces so ideal for youngster painting^^

hope you´ll like...and more of this soon too!

also...cam...here is a mock up of your suggested look with a possible scratch build tau drone version and actual drones...:

cheers, vik
what do you think...? the aesthetics are a kind of double entendre...?

The shipping containers are great vik , you could also do a pile of rope/cable rigging parts and a dropped crate that hit the ground and shattered if your looking for ideas.

Teleporters look great, I really need to pay more attention to the competitions, but I never complete one and it's over in that other sub forum

It might just be my filthy mind, but I can’t look at that scratch build and not see something obscene. Well, at least a little risqué.

On a more practical point (which I’m not very sure on), don’t tau drones have the ability to do things (like shoot) while still attached? It looks like that placement will have them sunk into little bays, so their guns won’t be showing.

Unless you stick them on the bottom with magnets.

Welcome back, vic. I myself was gone for a long as well, i debuted my return with starting my blog thread for my looted drop pod idea from waay back. I invite you stop in and peruse my new stuff at your leisure.

As for the riders, nothing in the rules says you have to see them, so there's no reason You can't put a closed cockpit on those piranha. As for drones, regular bases 25mm could work, or the base of the small flight stand.

Edit: never mind, i see you found something already.

Something weird going on on Dakka, I have had a bunch of ideas lately, and before I start in on them someone comes along and does it! Actually had mould built for this.

Excellent shipping containers. Look perfect.

And Graven that is another idea out the window ta! Been thinking on a board that is the docks with a sunken broken up ship, true scale partially submerged. The actual table top being water, would only build the keys and the odd boat to play across.
