Hi All!

I notice there's still a lot of negativity around AoS in this section of dakka.

Just a quick poll because I'm interested in the sort of person posting in this forum.

I love AoS but I can't play as much as I would like due to other commitments.

I get in a game every week or two and consider that "regular" but others may have a different definition. Love it btw.

It died at my local GW store after a few months. Pick-up games went first, followed by the scheduled games. Haven't seen it being played in quite a while. I would like to play but there just isn't any local interest.

It will be interesting to see if the three ways to play renews interest, escalation leagues do very well here so I'm hoping we get one going this summer with the new points rules.

I play pretty regularly. At my local GW, we're making "Sigmar Sundays" a thing.

Had my first game last week and really enjoyed it; it'll take me some time to put an army together, but once that's done I'll be playing as regularly as I can, probably once a week.

I don't have a GW store close to me so I don't play AoS so I just collect and slowly model and paint. If I could, I would like to try and play a few games to get a better judgment on how the game works.

But that is not a nock on AoS that no body plays. I can't even get a 40K game in as well since I don't know anyone who plays where I live. A local coffeegame shop just opened up and he is selling 40K and AoS stuff now, so here is hoping I can find like minded gamers now.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Looking at the results of the poll so far, it seems to be the vocal minority are responsible for the negativity around AoS on dakka

I get a game a month or so but want more, this is due to working hours however.

I'll play more soon when my hours change and also when I finally finish my orcs, which have been wip for around 4 years lol.

Overall though, I like it.

Certainly true, but keep in mind there are a huge number of Dakkites who will vote in the poll but only post once in a while*.

*Not to say there is anything wrong with that.

@Kanluwen, "Sigmar Sundays",

You need to email GW for a new food item at their huge events, "Sigmar Sundaes, the taste is just heavenly!"

@DeadlySarcasm, yeah, the hate died down around here but I imagine because the 8th edition got it's own specialist section.

It's a real shame that almost every forum with such a section has seen it become a hotbed of AoS negativity. Pretty much to the point I just avoid those places.

Separating the WFB and AoS forums was a good idea and long overdue. It stopped giving legitimacy to people who are scorned about the new game to keep being negative about it with everyone who likes it.

I feel like it's gotten more positive around here recently, for sure. And I play AoS regularly :-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I love it, and my local GW has more than triple AOS players than 40k, so plenty of games there.

However, I would have left this poll for a few weeks. Points are returning soon, and some people might have a change of heart.

Wouldn't most people not interested in AOS just not be posting here? "The opposite of love is not hate, it's apathy" and all that jazz?

I stopped posting in this forum after it separated from WHFB since the game wasn't my cup of tea. I've been interested in it again however what with the news about the game offering additional balancing mechanisms, the thing I felt was missing the most.

I'm doing AOS, Dragon Rampant, and Frostgrave.

While part of me misses massed rank battle, I'm finding the easier rules are much more fun to me because

A) less arguments
B) i don't have to memorize a giant rulebook
C) not in the rulebook a ton during the game

Waiting optimistically for the FW rumor about them handling LOTR to be true.

Kings of War is too generic for my tastes and 9th age is ... well... definitely more complex and rules heavy IMO which is the opposite of what I find enjoyable.

I play 2-3 times a week at my local GW. I see AOS on an upswing there and 40k I don't see played hardly at all. The manager has really been trying get interest and it seem to be working.

I dont get to play as often as I like but I do get a game in once or twice a week, Im excited for the 3 ways to play cause I feel that will really bring more people back in and the local area can get a league going and what not. We will see tournaments pop up and the point costs will bring folks in. People will always find something bad about GW but if this generals handbook is as good as I hear, well they will have done alright by me for 2016.

Also I feel the group of people that post negatively is shrinking daily as they move on with their ways which is all good, the few we do see though are always the most loudest and obnoxious and tend to ward those who do like the game away from posting. I feel in a sense this poll is not a very effective means of looking at how many enjoy, no poll would ever be, I just gauge it on how frequent posts are, the type of posts i see, and the general feel of community I find in the threads. People will forever be salty about WHF becoming AoS and thats all good, they have every right to be, but in the end they will move on. The AoS forums here might be slow at times, but I still know a few people who have fun with the game in my area and thats all I need. I got other games to be competitive in.

Also I love the salty people cause they sell their stuff cheap! 36 brettonian calvery and some skaven with a nicely painted HPA for 100$, yes pease!

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

Or just never, ever visit fullstop unless one enjoys reading a bunch of children patting eachother on the back for being childish.

The fantasy section anyway, can't speak for the other areas.

Well, to be fair, that temp cessation to pat e/o on back would mean a post or two not bi ing, but they're not all bad. Some hobby logs are amazing and their BL section, while nowhere near the quality of B&C, is usually pretty OK. Even some 40K army list...um, thingy...to...

I enjoy the game. It's maybe not the most complicated of games, but what I really enjoy is collecting and painting models, and AoS is very open about that. I can get anything, for any reason, and the games are tactical enough to not get stale, while providing just enough cool moments that I look forward to using new models just to see them in action. I'm definitely a breadth-first gamer, and AoS is basically my perfect miniatures game.

Unfortunately, my budget is severely hampering my ability to collect new models (man, I want that Maw-krusher) and carpul tunnel has been keeping me from doing much painting recently - and I've sort of noticed that without those elements, I'm far less interested in playing the game. When I get a new unit, I can't wait to play with it, and when I finish painting a model, I can't wait to show it off in a game. Without that, I've just lost my will to play. I don't know. Maybe it is just depressing me to see all the toys I can't play with right now.

Some of my friends and I have a small gaming group.

We love AoS but don't get chance to play much due to "life". Having said that we are much preferring AoS to 8th as a game, and we do still buy stuff.

I play it at least once a week, which is often for me as I only get one day to play anything in a week xD I love the game because its refreshing, the Battleplans are awesome, armies look cool with all the new stuff being released (Especially those Ironjawz) and the simplicity of it has made my friend group more social and overall larger, which is nice, Im always excited to see the game grow

I haven't gotten to play enough. I started to unravel it, and loved the multiple layers and tactics that we
were starting to unravel. Then people realized how easy it was to abuse.

"Orkses never lost a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!"

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.

I'd play it more often, but last two weeks saw TFG playing Nagash in small wound count battles and summoning anything possible. Still, got me into a conversion/painting frenzy, so I love it.
