Tomb Kings and Bretonnians

Screw those cheesemongers. They had it coming for having such outrageous accents and not make their squires clap the two halves of coconuts.

Well I think the Deathrattle armies should function like undead bretonians, with armoured knights and lots of spearmen and archers etc. Very real life style units fighting in real life style tactics...who are skeletons.

I keep thinking that the mask we saw on the adepticon trailer is tomb kings. Now, what do you guys think they'll show exactly? Grot-skypirates maybe?

It's Aelves, we should (might? However you want to caveat it) be seeing them in 2 days (according to Hastings)

If they do Grot Sky Pirates... I'd have to get two armies.

It's a huge effort by one of the most positive forces in the AoS community. They're even allowing it at Adepticon, and I bet most other tournaments will follow suit. Anyone who has a TK army should try it out!

Oh gak, son! GW be teasing us, again!

PS: We heard a lot of news last week about new products on the way, but we still have a few surprises up our sleeves. Stay tuned for more announcements on the way later this week, as our Community and Studio teams showcase some more new items at AdeptiCon for the first time.

(Top Tip: follow Warhammer TV’s Facebook page to be the first to know).

It really is an impressive effort full of fantastic original art and definitely deserves its place as important AOS news.

I hope they don't reveal anymore must-buys for my wallets sake.

Oh yeah, I've seen some of that project on Reddit. It definitely deserves to be news.

So happy to see he finished it and that Adepticon gave it the thumbsup!

Agreed, though now I wonder how the Grots could survive the toxic skies of the metal realm. Waaagh magic or squigs turned into bio-suits with their organs filtering out the poison air?

From some accounts that sounds like their style as certain vampires kept up the knightly pomp and ceremony even when their lands were overrun by chaos and had to become liches to survive the lack of fresh blood.

Hey now, we gave the world a bunch of delusional peasants that carry around the bones of a sacred knight and act like his horse while apparently fooling a goddess as they succeed in getting her blessing reserved for only nobility.

That's got to count for something.

Also, on the Monty python note, I wonder how hard it'd be to turn the new balloon infantry into giant coconuts with birds carrying them...a shout-out to the original ending before their literal "cop-out".

But will be they african or european swallows?

Also, am I the only one who thinks that there may be a hidden meaning/pun/message behind their expression? I mean, the first outright hint of the Kharadron Overlords came from a quote from White Dwarf where they said XXX fancy your skyship.

These look... interesting. Very Rackham inspired. Not sure I am sold on a lot of the style, but I can see myself wanting some of the floating orbs for conversion use, as well as potentially some of the dwarfs to turn into Adeptus Mechanicus servitors. Anything that brings me more bits to convert with is a good thing.

Also that's cool letting them use that TK tome at the tournament, I do love some well put together fan stuff but it just doesn't feel the same as an official one yanno?

Ir's really weird that they discontinued the TK range, since it was the undead army that was the more compatible with AOS aesthetics and setting (especially the sphynx, snake statue and ushabti)

We aren't sure what aesthetic AoS Nagash is gonna go for atm so they could bring in a new updated TK range or something unique but still keep that Egyptian flavour which is what I am hoping for. I was a VC man in the Old World but damn TK were so much cooler.

I believe it's mainly due to IP protection reasons, GW will never tell us why but I suspect that's the reason because in the first new white dwarf they do an interview with the designer of nagash and the mortarch's and he said they were designed in mind for the aesthetic of the undead in AOS. TK are pretty much Egyptian skeletons.

I suspect when they update death they will be heavily gothic in theme with some small tinge of TK mixed in considering the structures that are seen in shyish.

The weirdest part is that they don't get to be mentioned in the lore (as the infamous Obsidian Monarchy) until they got "squatted". So maybe the plan to do something like with the lantic empire they seem to mention so often?

Honestly who knows if they will do something with them considering it was just one small timeline event that mentions them. They are not mentioned or hinted at all in the grand alliance death book, I suspect when they update death again skeletons will get new chariots that's a mix of gothic with a small bit of TK thrown in there.

edit:Yup got my white dwarf out, the first of the new versions where they went back to monthly.

"Nagash is a landmark minature for several reasons. He enabled us, as a design team, to re-imagine the undead range and create a new aesthetic for undead characters such as Arkhan and neferata."

Another part

"Being able to create nagash enabled us to redefine the undead range, to establish a new ruling class with a grim aesthetic.

I would like a more fallen empires look for their replacements. Instead of legions of rank-and-file skeletons you get an army of imposing undead heroes from a mix of cultures to base off of the idea of how TK were still rational minded.

That'd give the undead a more versatile faction that can be anywhere from lords making their own kingdoms and spreading Nagash's faith to a twisted version of Sigmar's Stormcast who swear fealty to Nagash to keep from being put in the netherworld.
