Also, why we're talking about the realm of metal, can anyone explain why this pic was in the Sylvaneth book? Really wanted to know the significance.

That's the fortress(es) surrounding the Murcurial gate. The realm gate that connected the Allpoints to Chamon. A combined Stormcast and Fireslayer force attacked it in the All-Gates book. Had a quick flick through my copy of the Sylvaeth tome and I could find it in there though.

That battle did not exactly end well for order.

Yep, that's from the All-Gates book. Maybe this similar pic of the Greatstump is what he's thinking of?

Our glorious Lord Duncan is going to show us how amazing these dwarves are:

Spoiler:

For his seminars at the AdeptiCon event next week, Duncan will be painting the new Kharadron Overlords.

And what's more, if you're one of the lucky ones joining us for them, you'll have a chance to paint one too!

We'll let you know how he gets on, and share some photos next week.

I envy the Adepticon goers for meeting this Imperial Saint

So lucky. Screw Xenos. If they release an Adeptus Painterus faction for IoM with Saint Duncan at it's head I would buy it. They have the most op guns or the weakest guns in existence. They kill anything in two hits.

I do have my Beastclaw Raiders battletomb and have read the Ironjaws one, but I still feel a little lost about the realm gates.

Is this all one world? Or is each one its own plane of existence? Ect.

I know you play pen and papers, so think of it like the elemental planes from D&D. Everything is sort of influenced by the corresponding Old World Lore, so in the Realm of Metal (Chamon), everything might have a metallic sheen to it. Some of the animals of the realm may have quicksilver for blood, and the clouds may be filled with precious metals. That sort of thing.

That is cool lore TnTyme. It's funny but Numenera put out a book that takes campaigns into other dimensions of Earth or completely new realities ect. The Realms in AoS remind me of that a lot, but with less weirdness believe it or not.

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

Only a few more days and I'll get to see these puppies at Acon!!! The only Dwarfs I've ever cared about in WHFB/AOS was when there was a legal Slayer Army list during the original Storm of Chaos campaign back in '04 or '05. These models, however, must be had, built, painted and thrown on the table. Time to start working out some interesting metallic paint themes...

The best analogy I know of for the mortal realms of AoS is planes from Magic the Gathering. Effectively the same idea only realmgates allow anyone to travel through planes rather than just certain powerful mages being able to.

Yeah, I saw that pic with a bunch of Sylvaneth artwork and thought they were connected, my bad.

Thanks for all the great info, though! Loved that great stump map, made me think of Zelda's Minish cap.

Don't worry about spoilers, though. I've yet to read that book but my internet lore hunting has given me a pretty good idea of what happens. Tough fight indeed.

Also, about the Khorne-gors, what's so special about them? Aren't they basically just more vicious beastmen unlike the Tzeentch or Nurgle ones which change them drastically?

Just curious.

Was never a fan of GW's old dwarves or the fire slayers but these new ones are really great. Lucky for me I spent all my spare change on Kingdom death and Genestealer cults, so I'm pretty much out of gaming cash now. But when they finally release a start collecting bundle I'll probably cave and start collecting.

Good luck to those of you who will be able to attend these seminars. The rest of us will just have to wait until April to get out hands on the book and figures.

The pic of the Dwarf checking out his armor is quite possibly the most amazing piece of artwork ever produced by GW. OK maybe that's a bit much, but if the job of the artwork is to inspire you well...it's doing that job admirably.
