Subject: Trying to make a relatively low budget 30k Imperial Fists 1850 list to play against my 40k friends
Troops
5 x Cataphractii Terminators, 5 Combi-Weapons, 4 Power Fists, 1 Chainfist, Teleport Transponder, 255 pts
5 x Vet Tactical Squad, 1 Heavy Bolter, Vexilla, Sgt with Power Fist and Artificer Armor, Sniper, Rhino, 215 pts
5 x Vet Tactical Squad, 1 Heavy Bolter, Vexilla, Sgt with Power Fist and Artificer Armor, Sniper, Rhino, 215 pts
5 x Templar Brethren, 5 Combat Shields, Sgt with Solarite Fist, Land Raider Phobos, Heavy Bolter, 475 pts
Heavy Support
1 x Vindicator, Extra Armor, Machine Spirit, 160 pts
Sigismund rides with the Templar Brethren in their Land Raider while the Rhinos, Vindicator, and Contemptors move up the field...pretty much immune to small arms fire the first turn until transports pop. Combi-plasma Terminators will work as a sort of suicide squad with deep strike (I just really love the plastic Cataphractii models)
Let me know if anything sticks out like a sore thumb. Definitely need to make this list viable against Imperial Guard/Space Marines/Chaos/Dark Eldar. I'm building the army out of my two Betrayal at Calth boxes and a few random Space Marine vehicles I have...also looking for ideas on how to expand toward 2500 when I start going against 30k players!

My advice is that you shouldnt do it, you will get tabled early and that is rare in 30k. That is possibly one of the most unfluffy and genuinely weak lists i have ever seen, the only thing giving it a fighting chance is Sigismund and even then not by much.

Yeah, gotta agree with him. This list is to fragile for both 30k and 40k, PotL punishes you for loosing your small squads, and you list would be better served by being ran as a regular 40k space marine list IMO. It doesn't use 30k's ability to more bodies or heavy ordinance, but fits with the man loving codex: space marines. You can even still use the contemporary thanks to angels of death.
I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

I know you wanted discount, but honestly that will get trashed in 40k. Especially because of the ability to break and run away. The following builds on what you already have but changes things around and makes thinks much more durable overall.
Like it or leave it it's the best "cheap" IF list I can come up with on the fly.
Though replacing the Medusas with Quad Morters will also work.

PPl who optimise their list as if they're heading to a tournament when in reality you're just gonna play a game for fun at your FLGS are bascially the Kanye West equivalent or 40K.

One thing is make a mod so that Grav works like 30k - haywire not SM killer AP2. Most any 40kSM army that spams Grav will rock 30k SM armies. It's not even fair.

The legion list is written in away that punishes you for trying to MSU, so I don't sujest it. I would only run it so you can put the termies in the troop slot for more elite choices.
Swap them 5 man vet squads out for 20 man tacs with apothocaries.
If your building off a BaC box, that means you shoulod still have another 15 mariens to play with, and 6 of each special weapon from the box. Instead of a vindi I would run a 5-6 man heavy weapon squad with missile launchers.

Whao, thows guys dropped off the radar super hard after the kickstarter. it's good to know their weapon platforms can still be picked up. Surprised they never keep going/trying to expand their range. It always seemed like a shame the tracks look so Toy like. I wounder if you could replace them with the Blood and skulls ones.
