Hey friends. I've been painting Guard for awhile now and decided to take a group shot and share with you folk. I still have plenty of models I need to add, including getting into Forge World models. But as you can see I have an obsession. Although painting grey over and over again is starting to take its toll on my sanity. Just over a year ago I posted my army (http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/639050.page), it's increased a bit since then.

Here's the current army list:
-Creed
-Al'Rahem (Missing in Action)
-Marbo (Missing in Action)
-1 Lord Commissar
-3 Commissars
-4 Regimental Advisers
-2 Company Command Squads
-4 Platoon Command Squads
-20 Infantry Squads
-6 Vet Squads
-2 Storm Trooper Squads
-6 Heavy Weapons Teams (x18 Lascannons)

-6 Flame Tanks
-15 Leman Russ's
-4 Wyverns
-4 Basilisks

How do you keep a room like that clean

Its too overwhelming.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Signed in specifically to say WOW. It's nice to see a fellow winter scheme IG'er. Although your army has magnitudes more time and effort put into it than mine
Would be great to see some macro lens shots of your favourite paint jobs.
I second Righteousrob on wanting to know if you have managed to play this army.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

Thanks everyone! It's definitely been a labor of love/hate. The army's been sitting in my dining room for a week now (living by yourself can have its nerdy perks), but finally time to put the soldiers back in the barracks.

The most I've ever fielded is actually just 4,000 points. There's not much of a 40k scene where I live so I mostly just do "Garagehammer" with my friend who plays Space Marines. My brother plays Orks but he lives 200 miles away. We do an annual Apocalypse game, 2v1, and rotate teams each year. My last solo turn was a year and a half ago, which the army was about 4,000 points then. My next turn is another year and half. So hopefully my opponents will be able to field enough units to compete!

Ask and ye shall receive! Although when painting this many Guardsmen there aren't many favorite paint jobs since everyone is mostly armored the same. And I make no claims to being a good photographer or Golden Demon painter. Let me know if there's any specific dudes you want to see up close.

A lot of time! Obviously an army of this size is mostly assembly line painting. I don't know the specific hours per model, but 30 infantry takes me about a month to do. 4 tanks takes me about 20 days. Overall I've been painting the army for about 4 years.

Very impressive. Have you ever fielded it all at once?

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

Well done on painting all that. Passion for your army is far more important than Golden daemon painting skills.
Your scheme unites your army nicely and everything looks like it belongs together.
