Subject: 6,000 pt. Imperial Guard Army, The Fightin' 49th! Pic Heavy
Hi all. I've been working on this army for about 3 years now. It's not anywhere near where I want it to be, but it's probably about half way there. Be sure to check back in 3 years for the complete army!
The army is comprised of the following:
-Creed
-Al'Rahem
-Marbo
-4 Commissars
-4 Regimental Advisers
-3 Command Squads
-4 Heavy Weapon Squads (lascannons)
-9 Infantry Squads
-3 Flame Tanks (interchangeable weapons)
-13 Leman Russ Tanks (interchangeable weapons)
-3 Chimeras
-1 Manticore
-4 Wyvern Tanks
-1 Baneblade
-3 Vendettas
There's still about 20 tanks and 200 troop models I want to add, but for now this is my fightin' force!
The only camera I have is my phone camera, so yeah, not the best quality. Hopefully once the army is all said and done I'll have an actual camera.
Let me know your thoughts, comments, and criticisms!
Spoiler:

Nice man! you can tell this is a labor of love. That's a lot of painting hours for all those troops and vehicles. You stuck to your color scheme nicely which makes the it look like a cohesive battle regiment. Keep it up!
Try to take pics of the army in better light next time so you don't have to use the flash. Camera flash is very harsh on paintjobs.

Thanks, dude! Yeah, in hindsight I probably would have picked a different color scheme. Doing different (dare I say) "shades of grey" gets very tedious, very quickly. Although my other armies are a lot more colorful. And next time I'll see if I can work on my lighting situation.

Thanks! It actually means a lot to hear that these boys inspire someone. My army would have been Steel Legion if they were made in plastic. Best of luck to your guys!
Maybe, like you said, it's not the absolute greatest, but even those scions look pretty neat with that white color scheme. The regular guardsmen are what I like the most, of course.
Now, some questions!
1. Where did the lascannon bits for the vendettas come from? I run a single vendetta but I only had missles and rocket pods in my kit, so I have the pods glued on for now.
2. How did you do the snowy effects on your bases? They're deceptively life-like.

2. I based the snow on this article from BoLS, http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2012/10/hobby-warring-in-a-winter-wonderland.html. For the lighter snow areas they say, "Start by pouring some white glue around your existing clumps..." I just got an old paint brush and painted the glue where I want it, then poured the snow on top of it. It takes 2 layers of this to get what I consider to be the desired affect. The article mentions using matt varnish for various steps towards the end, but I never used that. There's always flakes of "snow" on the table after a battle, but it's never anything messy.
