Sigh. Its great to see OOP stuff becoming available again, but at the same time its frustrating that I spent 3X that much for the same mini last year.

Pics from the FW Open Day show Gandalf The Grey (foot and mounted), Girion and the Captain of Dale will be coming back soon, and there were some neat previews of Gundabad Berserkers/Bolg's Guard as well. Pics here:

And after I bought one for $70 last year.

Girion and the Captain of Dale will be coming back soon,

I admit, I skipped over the Laketown stuff from the movies, because I was so busy last year trying to buy all the older OOP LOTR stuff I didn't have. Now that I'm mostly caught up, I may put together a small Laketown army to play some of the war of the ring battles that took place around the Lonely Mountain (Dwarfs and Men against Orcs and evil men!).

and there were some neat previews of Gundabad Berserkers/Bolg's Guard as well.

I like these guys! Definitly need to pick up a half-dozen or so when they are released to bulk up my Gundabad army.

mdauben, if you do Lake-town, be sure to supplement your Militia with the Perry Miniatures Napoleonic Russian Militia - they match the Lake-Town Militia _perfectly_.

Couple of the sourcebooks didn't stay in stock long in the U.S. store. At least I got my Free Peoples book ordered before it goes out of stock. Now if only the Ruins of Osgiliath would come back in stock. LOL

I was checking the U.S. GW website today and they did some clean up. They removed alot of items that were listed as sold out in the Hobbit section. But they also removed a few items that were still in stock. For instance, they removed the Fellowship of the Ring plastic set that was available. I am not sure what else they may have removed that had still been in stock. I wonder if this is due to a new release coming soon. I hope so, anyone got some news?

Still OOS on the GWUS website, but it is marked "temporarily" so I'm hoping to catch it when it comes back again.

While it is not a re-release, Khandish Warriors are back in stock on the US GW site. Maybe the horsemen will come back soon! I know Khand interests me as far as Battle Companies is concerned...

Good news. The Horsemen are a must and I'd like to see the Khandish King back in stock, too.

Any word on a new starter set? I'm out of the loop but would love to hop back in it.

Unknown currently. There's a new supplement coming out at the end of the month which consolidates/updates the Battle of Five Armies stuff and there's a new rulebook coming next year. So I don't think it's too much of a leap of faith to assume a new starter could be on the cards.

Has been stated that it would depend entirely upon the level of support from the fans that the line gets over the coming months. With new Gundabad releases (berzerkers, ogres, and more) a £35 hardcover sourcebook for Desolation and Battle and a £25 Lake-town plastic modular house kit coming soon, GW is about to get a LOT of money from me...

Just as a quick aside, the new supplement has gone temp out of stock on the web store. So, it's been popular enough to sell through the initial amount in four days of pre-order! Dead game my ass

Uh-huh. So this isn't a new, stand alone rulebook, but just a supplement to the old Hobbit rulebook? Is this really worth buying for someone who already has the original Desolation and Five Armies supplements?

lndeed it is bud, as it's updated those two as well as got new profiles for all the unreleased and recently released stuff. Dain, the Iron Hills, the unreleased Gundabad stuff (a proper profile for lieutenant of Sauron Azog) and a proper campaing tree so we can actually play it properly.

It has much worth, if you use Hobbit-movie armies. I am super excited by the book and will probably buy it, but I only wouldn't since I use LOTR armies.

I cannot wait - I'm super stoked. I have Mirkwood, Gundabad, Lake-town and Survivors, Dale, and Erebor armies.

The new Army Special Rules are being launched with this supplement (all units in your army from one army type = special rule), plus tons of new units and profiles. Gundabad Berserkers and Ogres to add to my Gundabad legions, armored Mirkwood cavalry, proper Dol Guldur orc army lists, and the Necromancer and proto-Nazgul!

Do we know if that is Hobbit-only, or does it extend to LOTR armies too?

This supplement is just for the hobbit right now. It's basically redoing those poor excuses of pamphlets that came out for desolation of smaug and battle of the five armies. The new rulebook will be out next year and will do the same army wide special rules and updates for all the existing LoTR armies.
