That thing is way too small to be a good stand in for an Earth Shaker. Trying finding a 1/48 Flak 88

I looked at those and to me their gun barrel looks to thin to be an earthshaker.

I have a set of three Trumpeter Field Howitzers in my to-do-stack, they should do the trick nicely and are highly detailed for a great price.
Trumpeter 02304 Modellbausatz German 15cm s.FH 18 Field Howitzer
http://www.amazon.com/Trumpeter-German-Field-Howitzer-Model/dp/B000WD76E8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464014471&sr=8-1&keywords=Trumpeter+02304
Has like 270 parts, so that should be detailled enough I'd say - and it's slightly cheaper than FWs 73GBP at 43USD

I just got a few of these bad boys and they're perfect. I use them as medusa cannons but theres no reason you shouldnt be able to count them in as earthshakers either.
They also have some nice rapier alternatives.

I took a standard Basilisk kit, and just didn't attach the gun portion to the chimera portion. A little bit of conversion work with the extra bits that come in the kit, and I was able to create a Chimera (WYSIWYG-wise I put a Heavy Bolter from the HWT kit to make it a double heavy bolter chimera, not the best variant but basically free) and an Earthshaker.
Wasn't a bad deal for the price.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

I use those for my heavy mortars.
Another one I found, is 1/72 big enough?

Bought a used basilisk for 25$, turned the vehicle part into a Hellhound and the cannon into a carriage. All I had to buy extra was the Krieg crew

I bought 3 of these. For the price I couldn't refuse. The scale is perfect and if you really care a simple barrel extension makes them nearly identical to an earthsaker's barrel. Painted up they look great.

10 dollars.
Out of myself, 2 local renegade players, and 6 renegades/imperial guard players I saw at LVO, everyone was using these except for two guys who had the actual forgeworld model.
Super cheap, comes painted, snaps together no need for glue, and is almost the exact same size. The only change you need to make is don't put the wheels on, and cut the legs down to half size.

1:72 ratio is very small, that's like 1/2 the size of the FW model

I saw those and I am thinking of them. But use some different wheels and so forth for them. And add some extra details.

To calculate the size of a scale model, divide the dimensions of the original 'real' item by the scale.
Example: If howitzer X is 20 feet long, the 1/48 scale model will be 20/48 feet long, the 1/72 scale model will be 20/72 feet long, and so on.
The dimensions of nearly any artillery piece from the 20th century can be found on the Internet somewhere.
