A Glottkin would make a sick base for a conversion. The Maggoth lords are also pretty good for that I've had in depth looks at them they can do very well! I have only seen the GW GUO once in person and ill agree fully with you, the store pics do not do it any justice it was pretty incredibly painted

Ok guys here is my second attempt at uploading the images, i've hit some technical difficulties... Nurglings caught in the gears and whatnot !

nice! he looks great man!...a good combo of assorted washes and drybrushing works so well for nurgle stuff...can't say the purple and green is a scheme I would've thought of, but it definitely works, actually a lot better than I would've thought...gives him quite an eerie quality...also something about that colour combo makes me think of 90's cartoons/comics for some reason...just a little bit...anyway, yeah, looks great man!

...I should get around to putting up a showcase thingy of my nurgle daemons sometime...although, that'll probably wait until I've gotten around to building and painting my second and third "start collecting: nurgle daemons" boxes ...and seeing as I've also got a good 10k points of mostly second-hand ork stuff to work on as well...and a bunch of nurgle CSM stuff...and a bunch of space marine stuff...and some infinity models...and other bits and pieces.......I need to stop looking on ebay

Thanks man !
Honestly I had always favoured the Pale look, ever since seeing one that was an off white pale with purple bruising. However not at all confident enough in my ability to pull that off - and my major love for this model - I decided to incorporate the purple but keep the green The green is ENTIRELY washes. about 5 or so different washes in stages

In the future im going to look at maybe either trying to add some blood effects, or mix up my own dark purple blood in a glaze and make the guy more shiney on the exposed flesh !

Thats cool , because hey the 90's were pretty damn awesome (Not biased at all being 25...) !

Aw man a fellow Nurgle lover ! That is a lotta start collecting boxes, which I cant say I wouldnt do the same they are pretty decent value and particularly the Nurgle one is full of useful units. I have a mixed god Daemon army in the making, but already have a pretty large CSM Death Guard army . I've uploaded a lot of my finished work into my Gallery if you are ever interested with some time to kill

I also have a chaos Warhound titan I nurglified....and an imperial knight I heavily converted... then my Wolves which are almost a full great company.. And my new skitarii/Cult army I got for cheap on ebay all unpainted...
So so so much plastic needs attention....I definately feel your eBay pain !

Loads of beautiful entries so far. Really nice models and paintjobs. I'm so looking forward to see those hero quest models. I remember them as a kid and I had the expansions too. I really wish I still had them!

Thanks for the support. It's slow progress at the moment - not even finished the base coats, but I'll get there (I hope!).

I'm fortunate enough that I don't throw anything out, so I've still got the complete Hero Quest, plus the Kellar's Keep, Return of the Witchlord, Against the Orge Horde and the 'create your own' expansions. The only one I missed was the Wizards of Morcar which is going for silly money on eBay.

This is a friggin sweet conversion mate! Would love some close ups of the paint job if you have any, and you should post it in the AoS projects thread in the AoS section.

I need to get a move on with mine lol! Still putting on the basecoats

Update: My Tankbustas Boss Nob is taking a new direction cause the previous build wasn't mighty, boss, or nefarious enough. New proof:

I still need to wire da launcha and da launch levah to his pack, add some greenstuff, etc. but you get the idea...
Only problem is, all this modelling rework has seriously cut into my already short painting schedule. Fingers crossed for a finished product before month's end.

Melcavuk, that Stormcast Collossus looks partially impressive, could easily be out of the 300 movie, nice work.
Great model Kleggt, I keep trying to find one of those for myself but haven't got one yet, The ripple in the water on the base looks very interesting.
Congrats El-Torm, you have painted some nice shadows and good skin tone on that model.

A WIP on mine so you can see what I'm up to, and to motivate KB to show we are not all speed paints (though you have a considerably larger area to paint than me )
First time I've tried to blend the Ork skin paints together normally I just layer, also I had to become a dentist to help Mr Ironhide out, seems the casting left him with several cavities in his teeth which have now have fillings in

Most of the base colours done on the model and base, painting this model has made me take a bit of time to appreciate how much detail there actually is in the model, I'm quite in awe of the sculptors skills.

Mirvillis, Baron of Allmoon, is finished. The toughest model I have ever done so far. The filigree was very painful to paint, even with NMM. And I've got a whole host of Alahan to do in this way, too. Best get cracking .....

You have no idea how tempted I am to make a card table in the land raider and a pc gamer in the rhino. It'd take too long and I'm not sure I want to commit these models to that fate.

haha that does sound pretty great...but yeah, unfortunately it would also probably take a while, and probably also be nearly impossible to actually see when it's all done

oh man...that has reminded me of a thing I did probably nearly a year ago now, and never really finished...I made a "gamer grot"...a grot converted to be sitting on a little greenstuff couch, wearing headphones and holding a tiny greenstuff xbox controller, looking either excited or angry, hard to tell...with a plasticard coffee table with a plasticard/trukk-windshield tv, a stack of plasticard game cases, a plasticard xbox 1, and a greenstuff bag of doritos and greenstuff can of monster energy drink
...I think I basically finished painting everything for it, but I never figured out how I wanted to base it...I also wanted to come up with something nice and punny for the tv screen too, nothing I thought of seemed quite perfect enough...so it's been on hold for ages.

yeah, he did turn out pretty great man, nice work ...nice-sized pics this time too
...if I had to pick on something though, the green goop on the base could maybe use a little shading, it's a bit too much just flat uber-green
...kinda makes me think of this a little too much

...hmm, that reminds me though, I've gotta get around to taking new pics of my entry, my current "finished" pics still have the old version of the base
