His ambush tactics on an ailing Charlton Heston in that film, after using deception to get that interview disgusted me (among other things in that so-called "documentary"). It's one thing to disagree with a position and making a film to air your views. But Moore's antics over the course of his career reeks of the same tactics of the corporate establishment he likes to rant about. In that vein, he reminds me of those bands from the 1960's that liked to write and perform protest songs about the evil establishment, but got paid big bucks from that same establishment (the record companies) to do so. In other words, just as John Lennon and Grace Slick were (to name a couple), Moore is a giant hypocrite.
I agree 100% that Maher is a giant prick. If you think being interviewed by him is a real blast, just don't put yourself in a position where he'll call you names, when you're not sitting across the table from him.

If he got a hold of the missing tapes from his apprentice show, that could prove to be troublesome to trump. But as larry flint has offered a million for them I really doubt anyone would give them to moore. Other than that, as his supporters couldn't care less about the person trump is, I can't see it having any real impact.

Yep, Michael Moore wrecks his own arguments. He starts out with a good premise, and leads the audience down a road where it looks like he's supporting his points; however he loses it in the last 15 minutes of the show as he declines in to a profanity laced tirade that is little more than gibberish. If he could finish up by making his point it would be great and no doubt compelling, but he never quite makes it there and so his argument falls flat.
I can't wait to see his next film on Trump or Hillary. Either way he has a lot of material to pull from.

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/irish-bookie-already-paying-out-on-hillary-clinton-victory-bets-2016-10-18
A prominent bookmaker on Tuesday declared the U.S. election a foregone conclusion, opting to pay out more than $1 million to gamblers who have bet on victory by Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton over Republican rival Donald Trump on Nov. 8.
Irish bookmaker Paddy Power said it made the move after odds of a Trump victory all but collapsed.
“With national polls showing a healthy lead for the Democratic candidate and Donald Trump’s campaign running into scandal after scandal, Paddy Power believes it’s a done deal and that Hillary is a nailed-on certainty to occupy the Oval Office,” the firm said in a blog post. Paddy Power said it would continue to offer betting on the U.S. contest through Election Day.
While the news will likely provide further comfort to the Clinton camp, it’s worth remembering that the bookmakers were humiliated back in the run-up to the U.K.’s June 23 Brexit referendum on leaving the European Union. Betting odds overwhelmingly favored a “remain” vote.
See: How bookies blew the Brexit call
In the presidential contest, Paddy Power had initially put odds of a Trump 2016 victory at 100 to 1 back in November 2012, long before the New York real estate mogul had announced his candidacy. Those odds fell to as narrow as 13 to 8 in May 2016. But momentum subsequently reversed, with odds widening in the wake of a leaked tape from 2005 earlier this month in which Trump bragged that his celebrity status allowed him to kiss and grope women without permission. Several women subsequently came forward to say they had been harassed or assaulted by Trump in the past. Trump has denied the accusations and belittled the accusers.
Read: Donald Trump was ‘egged on’ into ‘boy talk,’ Melania Trump says
Odds showed little sign of shifting after documents showed that a State Department official in 2015 tried to keep the FBI from marking a Clinton email as classified.
Trump and Clinton will meet in a third and final debate on Wednesday night.
Trump’s odds at Paddy Power now stand at 9 to 2, representing an 18.2% chance of victory. Rival U.K. bookmaker Ladbrokes gives Trump narrower odds at 4 to 1, or a 25% chance of victory.
Paddy Power is the Irish unit of Paddy Power Betfair PPB, +0.12% which was formed by the September 2015 merger of the Irish bookmaker and U.K. rival Betfair.
Online and retail bookmaking is a huge business in the U.K. Paddy Power often pays out early on bets in a bid to drum up publicity. Paddy Power paid out on President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election victory two days before the 2012 election.
Sometimes the early payouts can backfire. As the Paddy Power blog post noted, the firm was burned when it paid out early on Tiger Woods winning the 2009 PGA Championship only to see the golfer overtaken by Y.E. Yang. In 2013, Paddy Power paid out early on a Premier League title victory by Manchester United only to see rivals Manchester City pip them at the finish of the season.
U.K. and Irish gambling shops offer odds on an astonishing variety of events and contests. While horse racing and sporting events are at the heart of the business, gamblers can also lay wagers on everything from politics to the weather to who will be the next pope after Francis.
Indeed, British gamblers have been betting on U.S. presidential election outcomes for more than a century. In 1896, a London correspondent for the New York Times reported intense interest in the battle between Democrat William Jennings Bryan and the Republican nominee—and victor—William McKinley.
See: Political gambling an old tradition
“The Stock Exchange was the scene of unusual excitement today, more time being devoted to betting on the result of the presidential election in the United States than in the conduct of legitimate business,” the Times reported.

OK, so what happens to US politics after the election?
The result is a forgone conclusion, and short of setting fire to the Declaration of Independence, the presidency is HRC's...
But then what? What happens to the two parties, because there are big questions to ask...
The Democrat party has been reduced to being a front for the Clinton foundation.
The GOP was used as a vehicle for a third party candidate, Donald Trump, and its own preferred candidates turned out to be as useful as a bucket of horseback.
And then there is the American people.
Obviously, I'm no expert on the US, despite my interest in its culture and history, but even to somebody like me, there seems to be two Americas.
The coastal enclaves of California, New York, and New England, and then everybody else in between.
The in between people are seeing their life expectancy drop, wages stagnate, jobs going, and have generally been left behind by the modern age.
This is not unique to the USA as it's happening right now in my own country.
But I don't think the two main parties speak for anybody these days, I don't think they will hold, I think they will splinter.
The USA is crying out for new parties, but unfortunately, its system is designed for two parties.
Something will have to give...

Of all the people on all the dakka threads, I never expected it to be you to come out with something like that.
We know from leaked emails what was really going on behind the scenes, and from day 1, it was a Hilary Clinton coronation procession.
Fair enough, the Democrats have a right to say who they think has the best chance of winning, but if I were a Bernie supporter, I'd be wondering if him, or other candidates ever had a fair crack of the whip when they went up against Clinton for the nomination.
To an outsider like me, it feels as though the game was 'rigged' in favour of Clinton from day one, that the party heiracrchy bent over backwards for Clinton...
add to that a compliant US media, that seemed to drop any semblance of impartiality in its endorsement of Clinton (Fox News aside)
In all honesty, I couldn't give two hoots who wins this election, and if I were American, i'd feel insulted at the candidates on offer, but the American people must be thinking that there is something horribly wrong with the system...
I know I would...
