President Obama’s Kenyan-born, half-brother Malik will be in the audience in Las Vegas Wednesday night when Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton square off in their third and final debate.
.. Yeah, that'll show people....
Malik said ousted Libyan leader Moammar Khadafy had been a good friend.
uh huh.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

The Democrat party has been reduced to being a front for the Clinton foundation.
That statement makes zero sense whatsoever.
Of all the people on all the dakka threads, I never expected it to be you to come out with something like that.
We know from leaked emails what was really going on behind the scenes, and from day 1, it was a Hilary Clinton coronation procession.
Fair enough, the Democrats have a right to say who they think has the best chance of winning, but if I were a Bernie supporter, I'd be wondering if him, or other candidates ever had a fair crack of the whip when they went up against Clinton for the nomination.
To an outsider like me, it feels as though the game was 'rigged' in favour of Clinton from day one, that the party heiracrchy bent over backwards for Clinton...
add to that a compliant US media, that seemed to drop any semblance of impartiality in its endorsement of Clinton (Fox News aside)
In all honesty, I couldn't give two hoots who wins this election, and if I were American, i'd feel insulted at the candidates on offer, but the American people must be thinking that there is something horribly wrong with the system...

I read an interesting article about the respective candidates and their rallies.
Trump has done 40 odd rallies these past few months, and the audience total has been about 200,000 people... Most of these people have been average Joe America....
Clinton has done 14 rallies in front of a grand total of 40,000 people.
The telling fact about the Clinton rallies has been their location and their audience. Most of them seem to have occurred in Martha's Vineyard, to select audiences, which comprised of media people, donors, corporate types, and so on and son on...
Meanwhile, Bill Clinton, and the foundation, have been using the power of patronage to court the media types, the wall street types, the political elite, for want of a better expression, and have been doing so since HRC threw her hat into the ring...
Now, now of this is news to me, and should not be news to you, and the fact that the Democrat Party hierarchy is up to its neck in this, is not exactly news either.
But ordinary working people, the traditional democrat voter, must be asking: is this my party? Did the other candidates have a fair roll against the Clinton machine and a compliant party hierarchy? No and No IMO...
You ask about Malaria in Africa, but I don't believe for a minute that you're so naive to think that Clinton altruism is not another way for them to open doors, to meet people, to fit an agenda, to generate good headlines...
It ties in with what I was saying earlier about Two Americas, and the distance between the GOP and Democrat hierarchy, and everybody else i.e average joe America who makes up the bulk of the country...
These parties cannot long survive this gulf IMO.

Are you honestly suggesting that the reality is the Media is very anti-trump and seems to be ignoring anything that is against Hillary. I've seen so much much spin on the Wikileaks (outside of a 14 second clip) the complete bias. We have a massive email dump and all Media could talk about was some comments a guy made 20 years ago. You have Hillary destroying evidence under a subpoena issues by congress, pay for play with the Clinton Foundation and Trump touched some girl who's only suddenly come out right towards the end of the campaign rather than creating a scandal when it happened for a big payoff. I'm sorry, but the bias of the Media is laughable at this point, it was exactly the same when we had the Brexit vote, remain campaign was simply "if you vote to leave the EU and its globalist nonsense, your a racist, bigot or some other label".
Don't forget, the Russians did it! Bit funny how she took the time to bit bleach her servers of Yoga meetings and when they are released, the Evil Russians are trying to ruin the elections for wall street and Soro's back pocket Presidential hopeful, crocked Hillary Clinton.

I am sure they view any statements you make in a similar light.

No, I'm saying that somebody cut out a 14 second clip out of a CNN newscast to make the claim that CNN said that it is illegal to read the emails on wikileaks, and that even with only using that very selective 14 second clip they were unable to actually make it say what they claim it said.

I claimed that this makes zero sense.
You then went on a tangent about three different things that have nothing to do with the DNC being a front for the Clinton Foundation like you claimed.
I'm still waiting to see if you care to clarify how the DNC is a front for the Clinton Foundation.
I'm not even bothering to get into the weird convoluted string of other claims that you are making that are all over the place. I'm just trying to get some sort of actual substance on this one thing. But I can't even get that.

Future debates should only permit the staff, the spouse, the spouse's dog (got to have someone in charge), and the studio people. No audience. This is just 8 levels of stupid now.
The moderator should bring in a fake corpse on the front row wearing a Tshirt with "America's hopes and dreams" on it.

..... sort of "debate at Bernies" -- no, not him -- kind of vibe you mean eh ?
... the younger forum members, in their post VHS existence will probably not get that reference.... let that sink in a moment.
C&P from elsewhere relating to the above
I have nothing bad to say about Malik, who is free to take any political positions he wishes to take. And his feelings toward his celebrated relative are his own to have.
However, when it comes to wondering just what Donald Trump thinks he's accomplishing with this inane gesture, I must say: I can just barely entertain the premise that he might think this capable of rattling President Obama, though he'd almost certainly be wrong. But rattling Hillary Clinton, to whom Malik Obama is a stranger carrying no emotional baggage? Why would Hillary Clinton care? Does Trump imagine that Malik's presence will hit like that appearance of that long-lost relative from the old country, during the Senate hearing in THE GODFATHER II? When the person he seeks to intimidate with that appearance isn't any kind of relative at all?
Of course, this gesture is likely not meant to rattle Hillary at all, but instead to remind the Trump base that Obama has relatives from Kenya and that this is somehow sinister: a sop to birtherism. In which case, again, it has nothing whatsoever to do with Hillary. And in which case, again, it *does* speak to Malik Obama's character that, regardless of his sincere political leanings, he would allow himself to be used this way by a demagogue who wishes to present his very existence as damning.
In any event: this is Donald Trump stooping into the gutter to gather up the foulest mud he can find, and coming up with a handful of air. It speaks to his emptiness and his ugliness, and to the extent it encourages any of his supporters at all, it speaks to the idiocy that would find the presence of Malik Obama at all significant.

And what of your random numbers without context?
2) 3,708,294
What is that number?
The combined total of Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal films?
The number of bench presses the North Korean Leader can do in an hour?
The amount of donuts the Chicago police force consumes in a year?
Stars in our solar system?
Posts on dakka?
To answer your question, why wouldn't it make zero sense for something that is clearly a vehicle for self-promoting the Clintons to have captured the party apparatus of the Democrat party. I should have made it clear earlier that this is my opinion, and only my opinion mind you, which I can't back up with empirical evidence and sources, but an opinion none the less, which is your right to take or leave...
Given the list of donors, some dubious, who contribute to the foundation, and given the list of media types that are close to HRC, it would be naive to suggest that top Democrats are not in on this, IMO.
When Clinton wins in November, what do you think will happen to the foundation? And the power of patronage to benifet the people who are close to it?
Will it go quietly into the night or will it exploit to the full that opportunities that 1600 Penn present it?

Yes,
Hussain who regan propped up to be our man in Iraq, regan had him trained and sold him lots of chemical weapons. Bin laden was the pick for afganistan when he was our boy against the russians, he was american trained and supplied. there were pictures of bush jr and bin laden shaking hands, and shrub liked him so much he helped bin ladens family flee the US after 9/11, and possibly let bin laden live and escape.
then to really show their flexibility, they claim to be the party that freed the slaves and was for all the social movements, then they did the southern strategy and became the party of racists who will quote Martin Luther King and claim he's a republican and would support their party.
There's only 2 platform positions they'll never change on. 1. Their undying support for Israel. 2. Do everything possible to help the rich get richer, even if it means to pollute and destroy every square inch of american soil. Anything else is subject to change based on whatever they think will rally those uneducated trump supporters to keep voting for them.
now let's see the fun of the last debate. trump supporters should take a shot everytime the don sniffs, and clinton supports should take a shot whenever clinton laughs at and dismisses trump

Regarding "What happens to the R party after Trump?"
Just remember, Conservatism never fails, it can only be failed. After Trump loses, the establishment will try to sweep it all under the rug and simply claim Trump lost because he wasn't Conservative enough! Of course, what that actually means is pretty unclear. They will then go back to doing exactly what they have been doing since W was president and focus on winning state houses, state's governorship, and House seats.

Is the base going to let them do that, however? Trump's given a large percentage of the Republican's base a very loud, very angry voice - something the other dozen and a half members of the clown car primary race didn't. And now that Trump and Trump backers are feuding with the Establishment GOP, they might do some serious damage to GOP strongholds. Just look at the Senate and how Trump's calling for his supporters to ignore downballot GOP votes as a part of his insurrection.
The ideal scenario, in my mind, is that the Republicans dump the Trump supporters and move into the Democratic Party. Then the Democrats split into two new parties - a socially liberal, fiscally conservative party, and a socially liberal, fiscally liberal party.

Well, he isn't conservative enough.
Conservatives don't systematically call for the Bill of Rights to be disassembled because they don't like the particular media flavor of the week.

Sure they do, that's what the patriot act did, they only care about the second. It's why trump doesn't lose support when he wants to end freedom of the press. I was surprised any of them even know there were any amendments after the 2nd, let alone the 19th.

Let that sink in for a moment. If Texas goes blue, there will be a lot of GOP officials pooping themselves, as it's the largest conservative electoral bastion, and the republican counterweight to California. Obviously this year is an anomaly, but Texas has been trending lighter with demographics changes for a while now, just no one expected a shot at it quite this early...

Conservatism can't fail, just change over time. By the nature of human existence there will be always prior generations who lived with morals that are different than the new generations, thus creating "conservatism."

I'd just like to point out that the number quoted is way too high for that. The number of stars in our solar system is 1, and that star is the sun. But I get that you were using hypothetical references to make a point, my OCD just couldn't let it go.
Back on topic, I live in TX and I would be surprised if this election didn't swing blue. Most people I talk to in person think Trump is a joke There are also a lot of non-Texans (including myself) that have moved here from other states, many of which are more liberal. So that could be a factor

I was thinking more along the lines of the Stonecutters and a no Donald rule
In saying that though, if they stick by 'establishment' candidates and keep the likes of Trump out in future, that will only further annoy their ever diminishing base.
Difficult times ahead for the GOP.
