You might get some brave journalist or investigator to go after Trump or Clinton, but these kind of people go missing for months, then turn up in the desert full of bullet holes, with the official verdict being that they kicked themselves to death...and then drowned or something!

Why exclude past presidents? they're great for a reason
I'd love to have Teddy Rosevelt in office again. He is the greatest president ever. When the army cadets complained about their riding drills, he rode his horse for a day trip and told them to shut up and do it. Probably the only person to ever kick asthma is the butt and got over it. Get's shot, finishes his speech anyways, thus originating the quote 'tis only a flesh wound'
Greatest line ever "america has no room for hyphenated americans" meaning you're here, you're one of us. A true egalitarian.
and about him "death had to take him while he slept, if he was awake there would have been a fight"
There is no one who could measure up against him from the dawn of time til our extinction.

Didn't Afghanistan offer to hand bin Laden over to a third party?
Sort of, kind of. The Taliban at one point offered to turn over OBL if the US would stop the bombing campaign, and provide "proof" that OBL was responsible. At that point they would consider handing OBL over to a third party country. It wasn't a great offer to be honest even if they would have followed through on it.

That is the point. The FBI have just swept up every email that Mrs Thingy and her estranged husband have sent or received in a decade. It's difficult to imagine that that enormous amount of potential evidence could be examined properly within a realistic time-frame.

My sense was since she didn't use it and it was a tablet, the emails were automatically backed up on something like skydrive or something that links among devices. It will be a whole lot of duplicate emails if she turned hers over to the Feds initially.

In part I think it's just plain funny that a pollster who signed on to work for a crook with a long reputation of refusing to pay vendors... has ended up in a pay dispute with that crook. Hoisted by your own petard and all that. But more than I'm just absolutely amazed that anyone is happy to vote for an obvious grifter like Trump, let alone that there's enough people that this remains a reasonably close election. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/10/31/donald-trump-is-refusing-to-pay-his-campaign-pollster-nearly-three-quarters-of-a-million-dollars/?postshare=7601477933633852&tid=ss_tw Do_I_Not_Like_That wrote:We're getting OT, here, Sebster, but this needs to be said: you can dress up the 1970s constitutional crisis all you want, but the bottom line is that Australian democracy was meddled with by an outside third party, in this case, the Governor General. If it happened once, it could happen again. Unlikely, but never say never. Okay, first up that's a terrible description of what happened in the 1970s. John Kerr is an Australian citizen, who was offered the position of Governor General by the Prime Minister. The final appointment is made by the queen, but its a rubber stamp. Describing what happened as meddling by an outside third party is just fething wrong. Second up, that's nothing to do with nothing, completely irrelevant to any point I made to you. Australia is not a republic because our head of state is the queen. The head of state is a hereditary position, and so we are not a republic. What happened in the 70s is not related in any meaningful sense. As for my other comments, it wouldn't even call the USA a republic these days. It's more like a plutocracy. No, please for the love of god just learn what 'republic' means. It means the place doesn't have a hereditary ruler. That's it. You can be a plutocracy and a republic. This is a basic fething matter of fething definitions. If you want to talk about politics you really do need to know what words actually mean. On November 8th, the American people will have to choose between corrupt establishment candidate X or corrupt establishment candidate Y. Well, between a man who's been running a series of grifts in the business world who is now looking to run similar con jobs in politics... and a woman who's had lots of accusations against her by political opponents, which is apparently the same thing as being corrupt. Hopefully, the third party candidates will get a boost, or if we're really lucky people will see sense and not vote at all... Third party votes are falling pretty quickly. It looks like Johnson will struggle to hit the magic 5%. For all the internet talk, people keep picking one of the two major parties. It's almost as if the major parties are the major parties because they address people's wishes more than minor parties. Amazing, really.

False. Trump enrolled as Republican in July 1987. He ended that in 1999, to join the Independence Party for his first failed presidential run. After that he re-enrolled as a Democrat in 2001, this time as a Democrat. He kept that for 8 years, before cancelling it in 2009 to re-join the Republican party. That lasted 2 years, before he left again and chose no party affiliation. Finally, in April 2012 he re-registered as a Republican, which has kept since then.
I suspect Trump will cancel his Republican membership again sometime in the next couple of years, even if he wins in November
he clearly doesn't care to kowtow to traditional party platforms and party leaders but he's definitely one of the wealthy elite that gets to leverage his personal fortune into political influence for his own benefit. Trump isn't a career politician but he's not an outsider either.
This is a pretty fair summary. Automatically Appended Next Post: Rosebuddy wrote:Didn't Afghanistan offer to hand bin Laden over to a third party?
No, they requested evidence that bin Laden was involved in 9-11, and refused to hand over anyone else accused of being involved. The US dismissed that as a delaying tactic then discussions broke down and invasion became inevitable.

compared to trump, she's a saint. The thing is the republicans have been throwing so much mud at her for decades, most of it untrue nonsense and trumped up charges, that any real charges that could be brought against her just fall into the background noise.
it's also clear a large part of america still thinks Obama's a muslim and born in kenya, and the sun revolves around the earth. Just because some random idea has a large following doesn't make it factual nor based in reality.

Similarly, the 'freak out' about Comer is because his announcement was so far outside of the political norms.
