Fair point. And generally I approve of the idea that you can unlock goodies by doing marketting tasks that should be fun/rewarding, as long as it's aimed at the appropriate market.
Getting a free hq blister for a newbie, by doing a demo game, painting lesson, buying a starter pack and playing a real game with that starter pack is a brilliant idea.
But if the reward is aimed at veterans/collectors, the steps to get it need to be more appropriate.

Go to pals to a painting session or show your armies at the store along with your overview of the game while you play there. Chance is the terrain is top notch.

reckon there must a/some financial component too but....
But then the people who are actually going to want to buy this model are probably vets, so making them sit through a painting lesson by a guy who potentially is a less experienced painter, or stand through a demo battle, really sound like chores. Playing a full game in store may also be hard to achieve, given the size of the stores.
(I never thought I'd say this but) I'd much rather the old system, where you get a stamp per, say, £10 spent*, with the option to buy at the end. It's trivial to spend £100 in GW these days, and you can always share the card.
*Not that awful per £10+ transaction thing.
Y'know, vets don't have to "stand through a demo battle". They can always be the person who offers to play a demo game with a new player.

Oh man i didnt even realize that it was a stamp card thing to "Purchase" the model
feth that and the horse it came in on.
i like the model besides the reuse of the leg details from the other captain.
if they are going to have cool trim detail it should be on the rest of the model not just the leg.

It could be that it's part of a promotion they have not been allowed to "go loud" with yet.
The run-up to the holiday season in past years has seen the introduction of new programs like this before(the Battle Brothers program was done in a similar timeframe).

That's what I've been wondering? Is it a GW wide offering on 1 Oct only?
Will it be a UK only thing available as and when shops relabel as 'Warhammer'?
I assume we'll find out 1Oct.

If we're lucky there is a less flashy non limited plastic Chaplain due for release.

Who knows! That's the only issue I really have with some of these promo event leaks we get; sometimes they make no sense until the actual promotion happens.

It's a Chaplain. If there's any member of a Chapter that should be flashy, it's the guys who think wearing skull helmets and wielding a giant golden mace shaped like an eagle is low-key.

On a personal level, 'less flashy' in this case means not looking like a disorganised noticeboard. I'm normally fine with bling and purity seals.
Then again, my favourite Chaplains are the 2nd Ed era ones, especially the one with the bionic half face.

Love that guy; he’s been my go-to man for heretic smiting for a long time now.
The level of bling has been on the rise. The old guys had purity seals, maybe a book, the odd relic or honor. But they looked like they fit the role of the warrior priest. Their temple was the battlefield, and the only hymns they needed were sung by bolters. More warrior, with a side of priest. This new guy is far more in his formal armor. Not very practical on the battlefield. All the flowing parchment is just going to get in the way. I get that 40k is supposed to be baroque and over-the-top, but I think this guy is just a little bit too far.
IMHO.
If those two giant ribbons on his chest can be left off, he’ll be about 200% better.

Warhammer 40k Facebook just posted this text to accompany an image of both the Captain and Chaplain:
The opening of a new Warhammer Store is always an occasion to celebrate, and now more than ever, as you'll have the chance to pick up these two exclusive miniatures.
The image also has the following text on it:
Two new Space Marine Miniatures
Launched to celebrate new stores around the world
Starting with Warhammer: Publika in Malaysia
So it looks like it's another shop specific regrettably.

That's why I'm hoping that a non-limited version sometime in the future may be less special.
Just up on Facebook, the first opportunity to pick up the new Terminator and Chaplain will be at a new Warhammer store in Malaysia. No date given.

Yes, because GW doesn't open stores every day. One store has to be the first. It should be available at new store openings with the Publika store being the first.

Sounds to me like a great way to make sure the majority of your potential customers have no way to purchase the model.
Not that I see why people would want to buy him anyway with all that paper obscuring the model, but if they though that; why sculpt him that way in the first place?

I don't actually see the problem with the litanies. There have been lots of Chaplain figures with more parchment than that one, and given he's in Tactical Dreadnought Armour I doubt he'd care much if they were set on fire.
I think it's a cool, dynamic, brutal looking figure - it's a shame about its lack of availability, but it'll move around. It makes more sense to have it as a release day mini than a "buy lots to be able to buy this!" 'promotion'.

I like the captain, not so keen on the chaplain, but when the current model is so well liked he has big boots to fill.
The whole release announcement should really have been better handled than this, there have been rumours going round about these minis for the last week, people who'd pay good money for them are confused about how and where to get hold of them.
That's not how to treat your fanbase or the launch of a special model. Clearly it got leaked which has soured the milk somewhat. But GW need to get on top of their PR big time.
They did a great job with the chaos leaks, and the extra engagement on Facebook and YouTube has been great. But their continued secrecy around launches is hurting them IMO.

They open about 20 a year around the world. Odds of them opening one within a few hours drive are pretty low, then you'd need to go on launch day.
