Well I managed to pick up second place at my store, which I'm happy enough with considering the timeframe in which I had to get my entry made and painted.

Good luck to everyone else entering

@D41VD0 congrats on that!

My Orks made 1st place. To be honest it seemed like I was the only one who put
Some real work into it. One guy put a Chaos codex on the table and added two cultists - his AoP!
Another one had a grey standard GW board and put some DarkEldar on it who were partly basecoated. - Dark Eldar at Nightfighting!
2nd place was a GW board off one of the stores guys - just some slime on it...
3rd was a board with a bit more work on it. An Eldar Crystalpalace or something.

I m a little disapointed caise I wanted to see some competative boards with a lot of nice miniatures and
a well thought concept on the whole thing.
The DE thing had a lot of possibilities. He told me about his idea and I thought it might be interessting.

Here're some pics

Deadline and stuff extended to Monday the 17th due to me being sick.

Some lovely stuff in this topic.

Here's the final work! The board on it's own didn't turn out quite as I had hoped, but it's not terrible. I didn't have much time to finish it, and this is my first attempt at making terrain; prior to this project, the most of the flocking I've ever used at one time was to base a single mini, and this thing took half a ziplock of the stuff so there was a bit of a learning curve.
I did make it to my local GW for Armies on Parade. The event was lots of fun, and there were some pretty stellar works on display; I didn't win anything, but those who did definitely deserved it. It was about an even mix of 40k and Sigmar.
The first image is resized to be viewer friendly. Warning: the spoilered images are pretty huge, but I wanted people to be able to zoom in on particular minis for a closer look.

Kustomer D, congrats! Looks like no one else gave a gak. That is not to belittle your win, but I'd be pissed off I spent any time doing a board if I showed up and that was my competition! Your store/area needs some motivation!

Matthew, good job brother. Some decent competition?

I think about to ask some of the other guys there if they are interessted in doing
a project together for next years comp. Just to boost the level. Or I ll travel to another store nearby.

Thanks Elbows! There sure was. I have no idea how I even placed, third place was Deldar with beautiful highlights and first was Ogres with awesome blending and effects. There were 11 armies, all of which were awesome.

Well done Kustomer- you showed the lot of them up with a bsoard the way a board should be done.

I was 4th at the shop. One place shy of placing. Well, I think it's decent for such a plain display with 3rd ed models. I am happy.

Next year I'll start earlier.

I'm so sorry this was delayed, there was a lot going on this week.

I'll sort out the topic shortly.

One thing I noticed was that the best painters didn't necessarily place. Third place was a beautifully painted Deldar army with city ruin terrain and smoke and lighting and stuff. Second place was me, and I assume since I can't paint for gak I came second because I had a huge mountain. First place had a lot of blending and other techniques.

I agree, its not always the best painted that win, i think that aslong as your painting is ok, then your display board is the one that gets you the real points
