Yeah topknot I was thinking would be a good idea everyone loves a topknot. Well, every eldar does anyway. Honestly I think at least 50% of the bare eldar heads have some form of topknot. Must be why this one looks incomplete without one!
Basically I'm trying to pitch his barbaric backwardness somewhere between 'wears a fur coat' and 'wears the skulls of animals as helmets'. A happy medium between the two would be perfect

Have you considered a hunting bird, like an eldar equivalent to a falcon? His outstretched hand would be an easy fix, and could certainly add to a barbaric / hunter-gatherer feel

Good ideas guys!
I am partial to a topknot myself, and I do think it would add a bit more height to him which would be welcome, but I am also pretty fond of the bald head (that's why I chose that head rather than a topknot one to begin with). I think I'll see if I can trial something first before I go scratching any paint off...
I like the idea of a hunting bird I've actually got one of the Kairic Acolyte birds but it's huge! Would completely outbalance the rest of the mini, but would be perfect for a standalone model that's part of his retinue methinks
My first thought was actually long tattered cloak, but the long tattered cloak thing was a look I'd ascribed to my Biel Tan guys (seeing as I wanted them to look like they'd had a rough time, being refugees). Wanted to make each craftworld look really distinct. I have however found one of the little fur pelts from the Chaos Marauders kit in my bitzbox (the lowest one in the pic) which might do nicely as a bit of a half-cloak thing:
If I don't use those ideas with this particular guy I do plan on expanding each craftworld retinue out to at least 3,maybe 6 people so it's all good ideas in the mixing pot for those

I recommend more charms (SW-esque), and perhaps a pelt over something or other. More tattoos, maybe? The barbarian aesthetic is a bit hard to not overdo.

Yeah overdoing it was what I was worried about. I wanted him to stand next to my other craftworlders and for people to think 'this guy looks like a barbarian', and then put him next to my exodites and have people think 'actually...you know what he looks positively civilised'. So a balance of barbarism, rather than full-on Conan the Technobarbarian
I think the idea of ading one charm at a time, and then adding a pelt or two gradually until he's looking suitably uncouth is the way forwards. Shall post him up when I've had a crack at that

Well, haven't touched Osutharal yet but I have been busy
To put it simply, he's no prophet…he's a warlord. He cares not for the salvation of the eldar. In truth I cannot fathom his motives. As far as I can scry his sole aim is to tear his enemies asunder. A blunt instrument by which Ynnead enacts her will.
I have travelled there once, to the derelict palace of the Wight King. The flickering hulk of a dead craftworld adrift in the void, shrouded in nebulae. I don't know of its name, nor its true location. Only that the forces he has amassed are terrible indeed. Ranks upon ranks of his barrow-wights. Terrifying and glorious to behold.
30 years ago to the day a lone figure staggered through the empty ghost-halls of Iyanden, swatting at the whispers of the dead seeping through the walls around him.
"Hear me Dead God," he howled through the tears. "My life, my soul in eternal servitude. I am yours to command. This I offer you. With but one condition...you bring her back."
I've had the idea for the Wight King for ages but only just got round to making him stemmed from the whole porting characters from Fantasy/ AoS over to 40k with a twist, and then I saw this kickass model and thought 'I need that'
Next issue was that I'd run out of plastic robes and suchlike and the GS capes were a little hard to master. However, a very helpful chap over on the INQ28 boards pointed me towards this tutorial for making them out of tissue paper and it worked brilliantly (I did coat them in superglue once they'd dried to give some extra stiffness): http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286080-tutorial-capes-made-from-tissue/
I've also had the Yvraine model knocking around from my Triumvirate that I'd half-cannibalised and didn't really know what to do with until I saw this drop-dead gorgeous Null-assassin model by a chap called Exanimus:
Finally triggered an idea! My Wight King needs a Corpse Bride
That helped tie together a whole host of neat things it ties into the idea that Ynnari keep gravitating to a prophet/guardian model in a sort of instinctive symbolism thing after Yvraine and the Visarch. It also gives the Wight King a solid-gold reason to pledge his soul to the eldritch god of the dead
Another thing it does is the first step along a bit of a worldbuilding idea I had. Basically each of my little INQ28 warbands that are taking their first fumbling steps into the Scar are backed up by more powerful factions behind them with motives entirely their own (not necessarily supportive of the motives of their compatriots). So, like the beginnings of WW1 the scrapping arguments of little polities rope in their bigger and more powerful friends until tensions fray and war erupts
The last thing these guys do is finally give me something that shows off just what I was aiming for with the Ynnari paint scheme (shown off best when contrasted with my Dark Eldar):
They're the ghosts of living eldar

The contrast with your Dark Eldar really helps sell the whole thing. They'd look great as an allied force together on the field, if you ever decided to do that.
Goes to show you how a consistent style of painting can sometimes trump even very disparate colour schemes. Really impressive work.

I absolutely love that Null-maiden as well. One of those moments where you kick yourself because you didn't think of it first still, absolutely happy with my version too. 'Gorgeous in a twisted kind of way' is perfect
You've hit the nail on the head with what I was hoping would work on these guys. Different colour schemes, but using a consistent palette between all of them (vary shades of tans, browns, gold/bronze metallics and reds) and giving each faction a strong internal consistency would hopefully tie them together.
The only ones that don't quite fit into that as well as I'd like are my Corsairs, but I'm rather fond of the black/red/gold colour scheme so that's here to stay
Actually, thinking about it the idea of keeping consistency of colours isn't anything particularly special to what I'm up to everyone does it with all of their armies

These are the first Ynnari that I really got aesthetically, thanks to that muted-as-feth color scheme and menacing faceless / tall vibe. Previously Ynnari have just looked like a mashup of Eldar models done for gamey purposes (which I assume most Ynnari forces on the table are, quite frankly), but yours have a real focus and life to them. Plus they do look very striking against their other space elf brethren (which also goes for said brethren!)

One more highlight on the visors would be a good idea yeah i'm slightly wary of painting over the skull-shadow on the Wight King though as i've just managed to get it perfect! Easy to miss on first glance, but once you spot it that's all you can see
I'm with you on the depiction of other Ynnari too. While i like the visuals of the Visarch that sort of blend all of the various eldar aesthetics together, the whole 'just take regular dudes and paint them red' struck me as missing a trick.
The sheer potential in the phrase 'Eldar Death Cult' shouldn't be squandered with nothing but a paint job to differentiate them
I have seen some people do cool stuff with the whole blended aesthetic too, but that was sort of what Corsairs look like so I wanted to do something different

Update!
What?! Are you insane?! I've met some truly unhinged eldar in this fair city…but this. This puts them all to shame. Consume the soul of a Bloodthirster? Cure your thirst? Utter insanity. I will have no part in it.
What do you mean it worked...
Just what the hell are you...
Had another idea around the whole winged vampire lord model I like so much following the whole idea of porting AoS/Fantasy characters/concepts into the 40k universe I was reading up about Abhorash, the progenitor Blood Dragon vampire who slew a dragon, drank its blood and cured his thirst.
With Dark Eldar being basically soul-vampires, I thought 'what if a Dark Eldar was insane enough to try and consume the soul of a daemon and try and cure their thirst'. What if, against all odds, it worked. It would have to be a Khornate daemon given their patron's rivalry. It would have to be a Bloodthirster, otherwise everyone would have tried it (and it's more fitting to the Fantasy legend).
Definitely see it as an example of ' Gone Horribly Right' though. Containing that much volatile, alien and intelligent energy within oneself would be produce some significant and mutable side-effects. Plus, it opens up the door to being influenced by the Blood God. A whisper in the ear, an inexplicable urge.
And so it is that a third Ruinous Power gains an unwitting agent within the Eldar...
My two Blood Dragons side-by-side mirrored and opposed.
All I need now is a name. Abhorax? Abhoraish?

My mistake! Forgot all the good characters come from Fantasy
That was sort of the idea. One bonkers DEldar coming up with the idea of consuming a Bloodthirster's soul. Everyone else just nopes out, thinking that it's a direct route to possession and the worst idea since the god of sex parties.
Against all expectation...it works, and this just freaks everyone out even more.
In the Fantasy legend it portrays Abhorash as being someone of incredibly strong will and conviction. Perhaps his 40k equivalent has similar strength of will which allowed him to retain some semblance of agency. I don't see it as an easy task though. More a constant struggle with a supremely powerful, malignant and intelligent entity that now shares your body and really rathers it didn't...
Add that to the idea that you'd have no idea which of your thoughts and actions were your own and it's definitely a case of Gone Horribly Right
Hell, there's always the possibility that it didn't work at all, he has been straight-up possessed, and the daemon is simply letting him believe he's managing to keep control for its own nefarious purposes.
Consuming the souls of daemons. Not even once kids
Automatically Appended Next Post:
I really want to! I was thinking it would be neat if each of the Chaos Gods (and each of the extant Eldar ones) each had their own roped-in/unwitting/involuntary agents and pawns that they've brought together to try and influence the events that are unfolding with my exodites rejoining the galaxy at large (sort of similar to how the Greek Gods played games with mortal champions).
------------------------------
Slaanesh has her Croneworlders, sent to claim what's hers by birthright.
Nurgle has his Blightdar, sent to bring them into the fold (it's the planets he's really after, but he hasn't told the Blightdar that).
Khorne has the Blood Dragon, sent to ensure slaanesh doesn't succeed in the bloodiest manner possible.
Ynnead has the Wight King, hers by infernal bargain, and the Prophet who actually believes in the Dead God.
Khaine has the Young King, sent to save the eldar (but viewed through the mindset of a psychopathic murder-god).
Then there are my Craftworld Eldar (and their Commorrite and Corsair associates), who through hubris and desperation think they as mortals can play at the games of the Gods.
------------------------------
Need to think of something for Tzeentch though. For some reason he's the one I've been having the most difficulty coming up with motivations for. Slaanesh is obvious, Khorne is there just to stop Slaanesh and Nurgle previously held the region so wants it back.
Without shoehorning in some ancient piece of knowledge that exists solely to gain Tzeentch's attention I'm not sure how to work him in.
Oh, and Harlequins. The Laughing God needs his representatives. Perhaps I should do it so each faction has a Harlequin guiding them along, even if their aims are conflicting. Seems like a good way of suggeating that there's some greater plot afoot and the Harlequins are orchestrating something no-one's cottoned onto yet. Always thought they were slippery bastards...

Thanks guys!
The idea behind the one mutated leg (and the wing/horn/eye is that he's sort of mutating from one side to the other. Sort of like Prince of Persia: Two Thrones where the sand-infection is gradually encroaching on the rest of his body.
I was also thinking that the mutation is a little more volatile in nature. Basically when Abhoressk (thanks Youwashock!) loses focus a little, intentionally or unintentionally, his form sort of vomits forth its mutated form from within and he has to wrest control back. Useful in an unreliable gak-scary shapeshifty way, but each time he loses concentration the mutation encroaches further...
Oh, and the mutation is probably more intelligent than you are and hates you.
Glad you like the paint on the wing Youwashock raw is precisely what I was after there. Sort of a mix between inflamed skin and khornate daemon.
Oh man I'd forgotten about Soul Reaver (and the Blood Omen/Legacy of Kain games). Fantastic games, ideas and worldbuilding in those tons of inspiration to draw on...

Yeah I've just been re-reading the storylines for those games and the memories are flooding back brilliant edifices of imagination
Good point a Bloodthirster being the literal embodiment of the concept of Hate probably precludes it from hating the Blood Dragon any more than it would anyone else
