It just kind of dawned on me, I bet you could make some pretty cool looking Naval Armsmen using the Neophytes by removing the GS cult icons, using the shotguns, and giving them some Skitarii Vanguard heads. I think it would give a almost kind of 1800s nautical look kind of like the old BFG armsmen sketches.

These Cult models are beautiful. So much goodness lately and all are my favourites (ATS, Custodes, SoS, GC). I must eat too GW

Flipping heck, all this stuff looks fully amazing. Seriously torn at the moment between sticking to my original hobby plan for the rest of the year and running out as soon as the shops open to buy DWOK then pre-ordering the codex.

On a semi-tangential note, am I the only person in the world who is totally fine with the plastic Cadians? Sure, the heads could use a bit more variety but other than that I've no issue with them. The plastic Catachans on the other hand need firing into the ocean.

Looks like not assembling my second DW:OK box will pay off as I can convert them to have all manner of toys from the Acolytes kits and avoid duplicates. Whoop!

The UK store will have them up in a few minutes as releases do not go up until 10

Yeah, I had the same thoughts. That's why I didn't include them in my kits wishlist. With an Arbites/riot squad kit it/d be even better, though. And some greatcoat guards outside FW, pretty please GW.

GW really is firing on *most* cylinders right now. With the boxed games and AdMech and now GSC they're tugging at nostalgia's heart string AND with plastic 30k (especially with including Custodians and SoS) they're (re)hooking yet another set of players AND using their design and tooling might to deliver a breadth of kits the competition can't keep up with from a production standpoint alone. If they clear up their rule (and fluff) messes and FW really gets to do additional plastics for stuff besides BB, like plastic Eshers or Delaque or Cawdor, Muties, Redemptionists, damn. More bundles with savings would help as well, a big army deal on release with some discount and a heavy discount SC box later would be nice.

When AdMech was released I was one of the doubters that GW was really mining their background for things people actuay want, but WEBBERS! Shock Mauls! In the hands of GSCs no less! Is this because people like Jes Goodwin and Blanche are allowed to bring back stuff or is this pushed by new studio members that were raised on this stuff and want it back? Oh to be a fly at GW.

/Excited rant after getting up to even more awesome minis.

Ok, I'm not really into GSC, but this is an awesome release, cool models matching cool old fluff but with a slightly modernised twist, it makes me really hopeful for the path GW are now on.

But the really important thing is that this is the first codex in a very, very long time to officially sanction kit-bashing and mods. There is no Official (TM) Brood Brothers (C) kit, just converted Cadians using bits from the other kits, yet there they are as a codex option.

Saw these on Facebook. Initially I didn't like the idea of Brood Brothers because I don't like the Cadian models but actually I'd do it the expensive way and use the command squad - they look great!

Was looking at the Neophyte Hybrids and thinking they would make awesome Solar Axuilia for a cheaper FW price. Then added in the weapons needed and it looks like I would save £5 a squad. Never mind, however as an army on their own, they look boss!

If they ally with nids it will be a purchase

Hopefully we get a Cadian shock troop or command box with the cult upgrade sprue like the recent Deathwatch Terminators/Vanguard and BA releases. I was going to buy some Cadians today but will hang fire to see if it is also like the recent releases and the price with the upgrade sprue is the same as the basic kit price.

To be fair, Brood Brothers have almost always been 'Use Imperial Guardsmen painted appropriately.'

2nd ed. was glorious because not only did we have a huge array of different types of Guardsmen to use (Cadians, Catachans, Tallarns, Mordians, Valhallans) but we also had Necromunda to dip into (Delaque, Orlocks, Van Saar, Escher and Cawdor all leant themselves REALLY well to the Cult aesthetic and ragtag appearance).

Still, Cult Upgrade Sprue? DELICIOUS.

Still very much hoping for a stronger ally matrix (AoC Chaos would be a dream and a nice nod to their RT and 2nd ed ally matrixes).

My own cult is tiny (I literally only bought the Acolytes, Neophtes, Magus and Primus from Overkill and plan on using some Space Hulk stealers and the Broodlord as well - all in all, not even 500 points of GSC).

Now only a CSM player.

Anyone been having a look at the codex downloads? Looking at the enhanced edition in UK, it seems that it hasn't been released early, but seems to be going for £5 less than the price listed on GW's website. If I preorder this will I get the enhanced edition or the normal one?

The truck is really nice, I expect we'll see a lot of converted ones in Ork armies yet to come.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

The website clearly shows "Codex: Genestealer Cults (eBook)" as £25 and "Codex: Genestealer Cults (Enhanced)" as £30. Neither are available as pre-orders (the button says "Find Out More") The Enhanced (i.e. iBooks for iPad) editions don't show up in the iTunes store until the day of release.

@DarkStarSabre - I know that, you know that, but recently, if it didn't have an official, pre-packaged kit, GW wouldn't even acknowledge the idea. They even went as far as removing Grand Master Mordak and ghost knights from the GK codex, despite the fact that those could be normal GK terminators with a different paint scheme, but no, they didn't have an official kit so away they went.

Yup, noticed that, but if you search for "genestealer cults" in the iBooks store, you can find a version of the codex for £25. Which confused me, as I thought only the enhanced edition was sold through iBooks, looks like it might just be a normal dex though. Worth a look just for the sample, there's some very nice high-res pics of a big AM vs GC battle.

Judging from the codex previews (which are admittedly blurry) it looks like the minimum unit size for Acolytes is 10 models at 8pts each. That means you'll need two £25 boxes to field a basic unit

Nope; from the top left:
2 stub guns, a plasma pistol, a handbow, two hand flamers and a sawn-off shotgun. Then three autopistols and three bolt pistols.
The only web pistol before these Hybrids I'm aware of was this one:
