So i was thinking about buying the Dark Vengeance starter box and then orkefying it
My plan was to make the cultists into boys and the helbrute into a deff dread , and make the biker's ork bikers... and the marines and terminators into ard-boys and mega nobz..

is it a good idea? I don't know.. ill probably keep the chaos marines and special characters as is and use them for decoration or something..

so in total we'd get 20 boys 3 bikers 1 dread 10 ard-boyz 5 mega nobz and some spare models... its quite good considering the price of the box..

The box costs 65£ which is like 13£ cheaper then my local gaming store in Sweden which takes 780kr or 78£.... wait does gw hate us? because we have to pay extra.....
but anyways a pack of 10 boyz are 220kr or 22£ , and a pack of 3 mega nobz cost 460kr or 46£ so just from that we know that we are saving a lot of money

But anyways does anyone have any cool tips on how i can convert these chaos boys and humies into our fellow ork brother's?
and is it possible to do so with minimal effort but still making it look good?

You would be better off buying the Start Collecting Ork Box and then getting a box of Bikers and some plasticard to convert the Nobz from that box into meganobz.

Orks and human models have vastly different looks and you're pretty much re-sculpting the models if you want them to look remotely orky.

Proportion wise, everything would be a nightmare.
You would be looking at massive amounts of GS and plasticard work and it would be in no way an easy task.


If you can find them near you I'd grab the battle for vedros starter set.
It's around £36 and gives you 12 boyz, warboss, 5 nobz, deffcopta and a warboss.
Also gets you a space marine captain, dreadnought, 1 terminator and 6 marines.

So the only real waste would be the captain and the tac marines.

When it comes to conversions I am a big proponent of following ones most outlandish dreams.

But... No. It is not possible to convert weedy looking humans onto believable Ork Boyz without spending a great deal of time, effort, and probably money...

Is there a reason you're looking to the starter set and not the start collecting box for Orks?

The reason that i'm looking at the dark vengeance box and not the start collecting orks box is that i'm looking to bolster an existing force.. i want my army to standout more as well as being big... and i thought that it would be cool to try my and at converting such a large force at once as i saw some cool hellbrute conversions and i've converted a few of the old models from the assault on black reach box but without much success , i'm also quit low on cash so i was looking for an army-deal if you could call it that...

I'm sad to say but i don't think they have it at my local store :( but a quick google search showed that a box would cost about 40$ on amazon...
Which is a great deal for me and it'd be easier to work with not only modeling wise but also price wise

That would take a ton of work to be even remotely convincing...

If you're going to make convincing Orks out of anything in Dark Vengeance it'd be the Cultists -> Boyz (about the right size, reasonable poses; bulk up the torsos with greenstuff and find spare Ork heads somewhere and you're good), at which point you can get them from bits resellers much more cheaply than you could by buying DV.
