This is brilliant! Wonder how far back theyll go, games workshop are really nailing it atm.

On a side note. Is it just me or do they keep changing which steel legon officer is available, last time i checked im sure it was the "sword overhead" dude who i have 3 of (4 counting tank commander) just had a look then as I didnt see any steel legion officers on the list and saw the bolt pistol dude is in stock while the other isnt. Still, shame the other guy isnt on that list. Hes a lovely model (as is the commissar) for anyone looking to finish a steel legion collection. Im hoping the old 3rd ed stormtroopers come back in, i still need some special weapons for mine

The 48 hours IS a bit of a bummer but I'd guess they'd be periodically repeating the cycle. Even if someone misses this first batch, they'll probably just have to wait maybe a few months?

Problem being it's still 48h in short order. My hobby budget is generally allocated well in advance. I don't have that much chance for "oh minis I want for 48h?" purchases. Hobby budget of the month could already have been SPENT by the time the models come on sale...

The way it works with me is that i see a new model i want on pre-order and the. spend the week getting money to buy it. 48h means i have to have a whole bunch of moneys ready to buy these

I'm sure he was about £7 or 8 when he was last on the site, so I reckon he'll be upwards of £15 now (since the FC Lord Commissar is £12).

If any of these guys are at their old price, or cheaper than their contemporaries, I'll be stunned.

Isn't metal cheaper than resin and plastic?

No, not at all!

(Except in mold costs, but they most likely still have those?)

That's cause GW added "finecast tax" to their models. Logically models should have got price decrease but obviously GW wants more cash instead so they upped the price instead.

Finecast models are newer than metal and GW has been upping price of newer models rather than all models periodically for now so resin models cost more by simply being newer release.

In some aspects.

Plastic has expensive moulds but cheap production due to material and time, and makes sense for huge runs
Metal has cheap moulds but fairly expensive production due to material and time, metal prices fluctuate a lot, but there's zero wastage) miscasts can be melted and re-cast)
Resin has cheapish moulds (you need more air tracks and such) but fairly expensive production due to material and time. miscasts can only be thrown away.

GW went to finecast because it was cheaper and more stable than metal, and introduced a price hike because it was a "better material".
GW's made-to-order metals are likely to at least be on par with later finecast models, because it's "boutique" and time limited.

Orders are live on the NZ GW site:

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-NZ/Warhammer-40-000?N=102331+2322890120&_requestid=2302283

There are 23 choices, all Guardsmen. Difficult to know the prices as NZ markup is so high, but they are probably reasonable.

They say they expect to dispatch within 28 days(!). I guess thats the downside of made to order.

It also says they are available for a limited time, but I couldn't find anything are specific on the site.

They are metal.

Interesting, under the description for the Kasrkin it tells you that the models can be used as alternatives for the tempestus scions in games of 40k. So likely will still only make models that they currently have rules for or can be proxied as such.

$50 NZ for scions, $87 for Kasrkin. Scions are $35 US so likely $50-60 for Kasrkin.

Okay, wake me up when they offer plastics. Them running off frames would be enough motivator to order.

Any ideas if this will be 40K only? Would love to pick me up some Mordheim stuff - Carnival of Chaos, Averlanders etc. Also some sweet metal Empire models I would love to get my hands on.

The prices are in line with the other older minis already on the site so Lord solar will be £11 for example. (the same price as Creed) The kasrkin will be about £28 etc

Some of those prices are funky. Why is the kneeling vox guy more expensive than Chenkov? Why is Marbo more expensive than Chenkov? Why is the Tallarn Captain more expensive than any of the other officers?

Yep, going to get a Tech-Priest or two, and at least one Steel Legion Commissar to put a little more variety into my DKoK...when I get around to building them.

I wish they'd offered the full range of heavy weapons. Valhallans had a missile launcher and lascannon too, for example (some of these were only released years after the initial release when GW got around to filling the gaps in the range sometime late-2nd-early-3rd sort of period). There might even have been a complete range of special weapons for each regiment, though I'm less sure about that.

Also, no metal Cadians? Boo. :-(

The supply does not get to make the demands.

That does seem odd. I was going to suggest that maybe multi-part is just more expensive by GW logic til I realised the Tallarn captain is siingle piece and the Valhallan one is multipart....

Now only a CSM player.

£25.50 odd for the full ten man Kasrkin squad seems very reasonable, are they desired by Guard/AM players? I hope they sell a fair few.. Some of the single miniature prices are less appealing but serve to show how daft the pricing is on some of the modern plastic blisters.

All told this will be great to watch and see what old products pop up as the weeks pass.

Looks like euro prices are up now. 15€ for heavy weapons teams and Macharius, 8-12 for most other single characters

I was hoping they'd go with Forge World resin over metal for the re-release.

Guess I'm skipping all of those.

Well, I got rid of my old IG metals in time.

I could buy this current selection and still have made a profit.

Multiple packs of kasrkin maybe an option. I would've liked some more Mordians, maybe the moulds on some ranges are too far gone?
