What do the races of 40k eat and drink? Do they do drugs and what do they do?

What Humans eat depends on their culture.
Orks eat squiqs and fungi.
Tyranids eat everything.
Necrons do not eat.
I have no idea what Eldar or Tau eat.
Lexicanum has a few bits of information though:
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Food_and_Drink_of_the_Imperium

Humans and (Dark) Eldar do drugs. What it does depends on the drug. Lexicanum lists some of them: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Category:Narcotics_and_Stimulants
Some of them actually have rules in the codices.

Eldar definitely have somewhat similar food requirements to humans, given that the Dark Eldar have entire sub-realms devoted to food production for Commorragh.

There is a lot of food / drink drug background info written in the rogue trader RPG. It is quite diverse.
Ranging from pasted humans and Grox to exotic xenos fruits and warp wurm cocktails.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here is an example of the more exotic food stuff a Rogue trader can order in one of the luxurious bars in the RPG.

Voidburned winterscale creeper with rakken brain sauce
Live Dolorium Throat Crab
Shardspider Eggs in Promethium soup
Jerazol Brain-Fluke braised in Ork Spinal fluid
Deep warp eel with Egarian mummy extract

Spoiler stick with the voidburned creeper ; )

The RPGs have pretty long lists of drugs. Spook brings up latent psychic powers, obscura is a depressant/hallucinogen...

Also the alcohol of choice in the broader Imperium is called 'amasec', it's a generic term for brandy of widely varying origin and quality.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Fulgrim spoilers
Spoiler:

When Eldrad and a procession of Eldar meet with the Emperor's Children they bring out meats, cheeses and fruits - many of which are exotic but recognisable to humanity. So Eldar eat food that is very similar to humans, though much more flavourful.

I guess we can assume the Dark Eldar are somewhat the same, though probably with a few more interesting ingredients added.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Interestingly enough if you read the HH novels, you start to get eh sense that the world outside of the army and Space marine lore, is very much like normal human life.

Im finishing up the fulgrim book and the way the battleship "bar" for a lack of a better term, sounds like any other bar would. People act and do just like the do now. The space marines and the Army itself, seems more in tune with the Holy crusaders do no sin, kinda guys. So i would imagine there is a 40k version of Mc Ds out there. Idk Squiqer king?

To many unpainted models to count.

Though as I recall the stuff called amasec is generally "better" than what normal citizens would be able to afford, kind of like how I could buy a bottle of really expensive cognac if I wanted to but might prefer to spend that money on my monthly living expenses instead. The rich and powerful can swill a glass of it after every dinner ofc.
