Spoiler:

According to a story on The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Miller—director of Deadpool—is going to be “developing an adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog for Sony Pictures”. Which is a “a hybrid CG-animated/live-action family film”.

Miller wouldn’t be directing; that honour would go to Jeff Fowler, the director and co-founder of Blur Studios, aka the trailer guys.

Also onboard as producer is Neal H. Moritz, from Fast & The Furious. Patrick Casey and Josh Miller (Golan the Insatiable) are writing.

“Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts”, Miller told THR. “The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for him to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character.”

I'm sorry, I think I threw up in my mouth a little.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

And just like that, I know exactly which side of the Deadpool team split were completely, 100%, unquestionably in the right.

No, not Tim Miller

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

Oh boy...

This can only go badly

Pick anything else. Like anything. Get talking to Insomniac and make another Ratchet and Clank movie that isn't just cutscenes ripped from the game. Sonic may have been alright 10 years ago, before it was butchered and made into a cringe fest. It sure as hell won't work as a good film premise now.

Miller has prove himself to be so insane, the Merc with the Mouth has refused him. Just all the 'no'.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Just even thinking about that as a premise makes me need some fresh air

i want to be horrified of this sonic concept, but also kind of want to see a movie using the really dark aspects of the old sonic cartoon, where all the robots were forcibly converted, borg style almost

If, and only if, they use that concept- Sonic leads a group of underground fighters trying to reverse the roboticization of the other animals, I'd be interested. None of the other 6 or 7 cartoons were remotely good.

Last time we got Sonic with real looking humans was Sonic '06.
Y'know, the one where he kisses a human girl at the end. And a thousand furries where instantly born
Can we please stop feeding the Sonic fandom? Let it die a semi-dignified death please.

Is GPO for it is literally the only live action human was Robotnik, probably paired by Ian McNeice. Marine give him a human assistant too - I see to remember a crazy evil Igor-like Mad Scientist guy that helped Robotnik out.

It also probably shouldn't be overly aimed at 30something nostalgic adults but now family focused.
