I hope that instead of a big monster or named character, Steamhead just get a massive airship that's bigger than a Dragon and bristling with guns and armedcrew. Would be a good shakeup from the current aesthetic (which I like, but change is cool).

I get that. it is just odd that so many of the rumour engine hints have been revealed to either be 40K, with only 1-2 AoS so far. It is also odd that a few hints are still waiting that have been out for longer than the hints that have been revealed.

I noticed the same thing, But in this case it would be tooling lines rather than an uncleaned 3d print (unless this is a studio painted print done during the models development to see how it works as a physical kit) as the tooling for a plastic mould would all be done straight from a digital file.
It's presence tell us that this is a pretty small part since you only ever really see this on GW kits in small curved or conical areas.
(And you're right, you see it alot on the resin models of smaller companies as they cast straight from an unaltered print to try and keep supply steady.Spartan might be the worst for it.)

Yet so far ZERO have been Duradin. Are Duradin rumored to have a release soon? Or does everything 40K that is remotely "steam-punk" automatically invoke the "dwarves" response?

And except Cawl ZERO have been AdMech. Besides, the "Steam-punk" look of the mechanicum has a different color palette and look than this one.

It's how they do market research.

Exec 1: "What should be make next?"

Exec 2: "No clue. What do these nerds want, anyway?"

Exec 1: "I have an idea so crazy, It. Just. Might. Work. You, web boy. Post a rotated picture of a random bit from something that is coming out soon. And make it out of focus."

Web Guy: "Ok, then."

4 days later.

Web Guy "Sir, nearly 80% of the guesses are for dwarves."

Exec 1 picks up phone: "Sculpting team? Yes. Give me dwarves. How many? All of them!"

That's how it's done!

It's the powered bits belonging to the first of the Rumour Engines pictures.

What if it is the Rumour Engine? Like literally a miniature of the engine that churns out the rumours?

No? Ok, then.

I realize that there are probably no rumors pointing in this direction, but the bit in the background of that shot really reminds me of an Ork kustom force field generator. Not convinced that the rest of it fits the Ork aesthetic but that's where my mind goes.

Ork Triumvirate? A model and rules for Orkimedes at last? Sounds like a plan to me…

Yep.

The first Rumour Engine was clearly a Dwarfen construction of some kind, as you saw the classic Ancestor Face. The big spear thing? I'm not sure that's Dwarven myself, as it's not an army I usually associate with the spear.

The door? Shape and simplicity of the piece suggest Dwarfen to me as well - if it was Mechanicus, I'd expect far more embellishment.

And this? Sure, it has common design cues to the Phosphor Pistol - but the rest of it doesn't look especially Mechanicus. Bottled Lightning also riffs off Seraphon and Stormcast...

That screams "Games Workshop" but not much else. Could easily be a base for almost any range they produce.

Looks terrible quality, currently, whatever it is. Hopefully it's just a mockup.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

People who have talked to the painting teams at events have been told the figures in more recent books are 3D prints. This came out with the last 8th edition Dwarf book because people were accusing the painters of being sloppy due to the appearance of a "finger print" on one of the new dwarf figures.

The paint studio starts working on the figs while the molds are still being produced. They actually produced some some small scale Mawcrushers for the paint studio to develop paint schemes for the AoS Ironjaws. They were on display at a Warhammer World open event and led initially to speculation of a new version of Warmaster.

I am sure we can eliminate the The Hobbit line.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

This is a really confusing one. For a start it could easily be from (nearly) any range they do which doesn't help. However, the confusing part is the colour. It looks more like FW resin than GW plastic, but there are quite obvious print lines from the 3D printer GW uses to print their CAD miniatures (look at the lower skull), whereas FW does theirs all by hand at the scale they mould at.

I'm 100% convinced this is FW resin. FW doesn't do everything by traditional hand sculpting these days. I think I'm right in saying that the Solar Auxilia range was the first that are entirely CAD in FW's catalogue. It's also the case that, if you look very closely at the Solar Auxilia, you can make out the print lines on some surfaces. The cost of 3D printing depends a lot on the resolution you print at. What a lot of companies do, is use a fairly low quality print and then do lots of manual clean up. FW seems to take the route of doing a very high quality print, which then doesn't need cleaning up by resculpting spoiled details. So, there are a few (barely) visible print lines in some areas, but not enough to be a problem.

I'm pretty sure FW uses 3d printing.

Both companies would produce prototypes using the same techniques, so this doesn't get us any closer to figuring out what that thing is.

Best guess is a new resin basing set.

This is forsure a 3D printed Prototype. So maby a new Resin/finecast Character mini from GW? The object looks embeded into a mass of.... something.....

So could be some sort of undead construct for AoS or like other people said a Base. It could also be terrain.
