I don't understand all the negativity going on in this thread.
We just got previewed some gorgeous models. St. Celestine and the Gemini are beautiful minatures. Those are easily the best female faces GW has ever done. The proportions are excellent, and detailing modest and appropriate. I love the "thorn" garter an rose motif. I'll just assume that the Gemini replace her cherubs. I'm gonna miss those undead winged babies, they were one of my favorite Grim/dark things. I'm not sure is it necessary but you should be able to either reinforce them with clear acrylic rods or magnetize them. Then we have a glorious Arch Magos model and a fluff accurate Ordo Heriticus Inquisitor. These are all good things.
I'm not worried about the Fall of Cadia, things are at long last starting to matter and 40K again instead of perpetual stalemate. Sisters and Black Templars on a cursade to save Cadia led by the last Living Saint that is epic! Bring it on I say. The war in the webway, the 2nd battle of Terra. I am ready.

Well risking off topic warning I will comment only once more (sorry mods).
Well I was thinking also about this since zeal, till last man standing policy etc. So maybe situation is so dire that was only possible solution. Maybe someone summoned them, someone important enough for Space Marines to retreat to gathering point or something along these lines.
Wasnt there speculation that Dark Eldar have one of the Primarchs in their pits as a prisoner.

This. Y'all clam down.
I'm still hoping for a complete, or even partial, rules reboot. I love the models but the rules are a monstrosity and at this point no fun to play (for me).
Background can stay the same or advance by a few years.

Think the closest we can get is Captain Tycho and Eldrad. You know, before they retconned Eldrad.
Lord Solar Marcharus was dead even before his model came out.
The first Sister Saint from 2nd edition was dead as well but never got a model I can recall.
Some of the IG special charcters (Captain Arabia, maybe others) were dead in the current timeline as well.
Really not an issue since it can be a 'historical' game or the model can represent any of the billions of other folks just as good as the named characters.

Probably wouldn't happen but I would also not discount the idea as impossible. I mean 2 models for Arhiman were released within a very short-time window. (granted they were for 30k and 40k respectively).

Advancement of any timeline in any game has to be done carefully lest it be the catastrophe that was White Wolf's awful Time of Judgment. Or the rather stalemate in Warmachine / Hordes or the ehh of how L5R handles it. ( One of the bad guys has his own approved clan now )

The metals may not be discontinued even if the sisters get a full plastic relaunch. You can still get plenty of metal IG units if you want them. I'm less confident than I was in full plastic sisters, but I still feel like they are coming. With Tzeentch covering most of January, I would actually expect sisters in February now. We should have a better idea later this week/early next week as people start getting early copies of White Dwarf.

I don't know if this has already been suggested, but could the cloak with gems and thorn pattern leaked by the WHC belong to the dark eldar figure in the artwork with all the black templars? At first I thought that the cloak couldn't belong to a dark eldar since the colour scheme was to bright, but with that guy's red armour and blue fur, well, it might just be possible. In that case, I'm aboard the HYPE TRAIN!
Also, could somebody tell me where in this thread is the "war in the webway" first mentioned and in what context?

What high heels do you see exactly? The only heels there are, are on the inquisitor (and inquisitors are hardly known for their fashion sense) and off canoness Viridian (which was based off the art). Neither Celestine or her bodyguard are wearing them.
TBF, you're right; I guess the heels on the Inquisitor just made me see heels on Celestine and the Gemini that simply weren't there; thanks for the correction. I'm less bothered by the "boob plate" than I thought I would be; it's nicely understated compared to where they could have gone with it (glad they didn't).
I stand behind my Magos comment; the more I look at the model, the more it hurts my eyes; it's like they covered it in glue and tossed it into a bits box. Otherwise brilliant model that suffers from detail for detail's sake.
All personal opinion.

Armored heels make a lot more sense on an Inquisitor than a battle sister of any rank, really. I know Vandire commissioned the sororitas armour because he was going full-on magical realm, but I feel like the mechanicus would veto that particular ask because they're the exact sort to have the same issues over it as we are.
jreilly89 wrote:On the other hand, there will probably still be something in the release for people to complain about.
If GW limits the plastic sisters to this trio of characters and leaves their infantry as $100+ per box of aging metal I think I know what I'll be complaining about...
But frankly I think the whole 'legitimate grievance' angle makes sisters whiners inherently less irritating than say, people who crow about how games workshop will definitely declare bankruptcy this month, or the people who've been bemoaning the inevitability of 40k end times for a good two years now.

I get where your coming from. But....I and many others enjoyed End times, and Age of Sigmar...crazy I know. I bought the books and many of the models and didn't feel cheated by it. I also enjoyed the old world, but I don't miss it though. But really we need to stop comparing the too. Fantasy was dying. 40K is very much alive as is 30K. We might not like some of the new background but GW is not going to nuke the Universe.
I'm all for Cadia falling. Its but one of the millions of Imperium's worlds, and it makes narrative sense given how they developed the story. Having daemonic incursions erupt all over the segmentum leaves the Imperium in a tough place. Either bleed off the defensive fleets and units around Cadia to shore up defenses elsewhere or sacrifice billions to chaos....only making it stronger.
I don't even have a problem with a second battle of Terra as long as the development is logical and makes sense. The war between the Imperium and Chaos has been cold for a long time. It'll be a pleasant change to have it turn hot for awhile. I doesn't have to end in victory or defeat to either side, we might only see a re-drawing of some borders.

Come on GW we don't need more Tzeentch Birdmen.

Now that would be an impressive kit. They haven't done a special Bike character since Sammael. Plus they could shortcome the limitations of a Pure primarch by giving him a crazy Bike.
I can totally see Kahn coming back as the first Loyalist Primarch.
Some friends and I have a little 'pool' going as to which Loyalist Primarch will be the first to return.
My own personal guesses?
A) Vulkan. We know, from the "Beast Arises" series of novels, that he intends to return to the Imperium based upon some kind of vision/need. He mentions during those novels that "My return is not intended for this war, but I cannot ignore my father's Imperium in its moment of need."
B) Corax. I kind of feel like the death of the Raven Guard Chapter Master and Shrike's elevation to Chapter Master might be setting up a "The father returns" kind of deal.
C) The Lion. They made a big deal about him "stirring" within the Fenris stuff.
