So the biggest thing I got from the rumors is that this:

Cool

lol it's everyone's ad mech army because of war convocation
However there is pretty much no chance this or any formation will ever be better than war convocation without a serious screw up by GW.
But it's cool ad mech players have another fluffy non-ultra competitive formation.

Just watch guys, the formation will literally be a re-print of the War Convocation. I wouldn't put it past GW at this point, everything about this book is looking disappointing thus far besides the new models. Why couldn't they just give BT player some token relics and formation or two with Crusaders in it. Can't be asking too much, can't be too hard can it? Man now I know how Traitor legion players felt.

BT players can use Battle Company, so they shouldn't complain too much.

And if a BT player doesn't want to use Battle Company because it uses Tacticals instead of Crusaders? It literally doesn't make any sense for BT to use Gladius or Battle Company.

They're almost the same so no they shouldn't be complaining.
Yes Black Templar should've gotten a special detachment and relics too I agree, but how much different is the Tactical Marine and Crusader? Not by much.

Tactical squads can't run two specials or a special and a heavy at 5 models. Tacticals can't run Neophytes in their squads. Tacticals can't swap bolters for chainswords/bolt pistols to take advantage of a chapter tactic designed to punch faces. Tacticals can't take Land Raider Crusaders as a dedicated transport. Tacticals can't take a PW or PF that can sucker punch from inside the squad (non-character option). Tacticals can't run up to 20 models in a squad.

Tacticals can combat squad, Crusaders can't/won't.

They're different organizational units with different focuses and strengths. Let's not confuse that for being "almost the same".

Sounds like something GW would do. Smash those two into one codex, release it C:IA style except have it over-rule the other ones.

Adeptus Astartes - Imperial Fists
Blood Angels - Archangels of The Storm
Cult Mechanicus - Agripinaa
Imperial Knights - House Hawkshroud
Astra Militarum - House Hawkshroud Knight Guard

Careful, I got ripped apart a couple of years ago for suggesting such a thing as you just have.

Me either. Though I am sincerely hoping that the two armies have a way to be run separately as well. No one wants to be strong armed into having to take a separate army to enjoy their own cool options.

For those of us who go to organized events, or play against strangers occasionally it is nice to have options that are commonly agreed upon and not 'well if your opponent agrees'. After all, if my opponent agrees we can go for rock paper scissors instead of dice.

Black Templar player in assault could give some Ork and Nid players a run for their money.

"Okay, my Initiates have 1 attack base, +1 for having a pistol and CCW, +2 for Rage, and the same for my Neophytes. So that's 76 attacks at I4, WS4. Let me get a couple more dice cubes out."

Horse manure. While this has nothing to do with Plastic Sisters, this statement is horse manure. I was just about to get into 40K again, and wanted to try a few things and I couldn't get my opponent to agree, even though it was in the Big Rule Book or because GW released free data slates for the minis.

So using the "if your opponent agrees to it" is not a good excuse. What happens when they don't?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

We can't even ensure people will agree to play the rules the same way due to interpretive differences much less ensure they'll play homebrew without problem. So yeah, the idea that you can just do whatever is fairly silly.

The suck thing is the more I learn from this thread, the less it seems like a Sisters new book/release schedule or more like a "Formation with Celestine!" is in my future.

That's a dissapointment, of sorts.

Yeah, and that's why i'm not buying into it. This release is gonna be a pass for me...got my hands full with blood bowl anyways. I really do hope that there is a more significant release for the sisters for later in the year though.

What makes you say that? The special detachment specifically composed of Black Templars and Adepta Sororitas called out in the WD, or the new Ecclesiarchy Relics called out in the WD?

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

So, we're getting a combined Black Templar and sisters detachment, with St. Celestine and an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor. I've been running Templars and Sisters together since we had a real BT Codex. So this is awesome.

If only we had rules for endless hordes of Frateris Militia. Then we could have a proper war of faith.

Actually, come to think of it, they should just have a combined formation between Sisters and Guard and let Sisters take Conscripts.

I do not understand this. I thought many people said there was no real Black Templar Codex. So I am puzzled reading you have a real Black Templar Codex. May you please explain why you see it this way? I just found my Black Templar starter box for third edition so I might make them into Black Templar even though I don't play the army. I would like to know what book I should buy so I can read up on this or is my Black Templar third or is it forth edition codex good enough?

Or do you think I should just wait till the books are released and I can buy that and it will explain the fluff of the Black Templar and how I could paint them?

I really hope that the Black Templars stuff is like the Inquisition Detachment. That it let's you run a full Black Templars force with Sisters of Battle auxiliaries. People have been clamouring for a Black Templars Strike Force since C:SM didn't have a way to run Crusaders. It would help Sisters out as well since it would give them more formations.

Because if it's anything like the last trend, it will be like a formation of templar stuff and the ability to take a squad or two of battle sisters or celestine. That's neat I guess, but not the full come to the present treatment I was hoping to see. Anything is better than nothing, don't get me wrong, but it's still not quite what I was hoping for.

Both, maybe, since neither of those things constitutes a "Sisters new book/release schedule".

If my local bookies would take bets on such things, I'd be willing to bet cash-money that the new Formation will suck balls and the Ecclesiarchy Relics will be little more than cool modelling opportunities.
