I have a feeling feeling it's either a snap snap shot of factions who were there but aren't the focus of the campaign or just one of the pages of factions.

It'll be a snapshot. one of the other pages has a range of figures from Sisters, Ad Mech, BT's, Smurfs, Cadians etc - this is just one of those random, copy paste with different colour plate jobs they put in books to fill up a page count these days.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. It's like "And you can make up your own, too! To give an example, here are 8 pages of us pulling gak out of our asses!"

GW has been doing this for years and calling it Codex: Space Marines.

They should actually commit to the idea of successor chapters. Like for example, stop having the 9 founding chapters be literally at the forefront of everything of note in the entire galaxy and have some successor chapters, who statistically speaking should have way more presence in the focus of the setting than they do, but whatever, the primarchs are coming back now so I won't fight for a lost cause...

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but has anyone else in the US not received their January White Dwarf yet? I got the last few right at the beginning of the months but this one is a no show. I assume it's just the holidays slowing things down but I figured I may as well see.

It only officially went on sale on the 6th Jan, so with that and the holidays it could well be running late

After looking at the units they just put up/reveal on the GW NZ site, this is just disappointing.

Apparently the Guard aren't special enough to be featured on their OWN PLANET? Instead it's a bunch of updates for other factions.

Considering Cadia is you know falling it doesn't make sense. The new GW seems to be the show us mostly everything so we can plan our purchases far enough ahead. No hints at all towards IG other than mass guesses from the... masses themselves.

I doubt there will be anything for the second book either. If by a miracle there is I expect it to be one single kit at best and probably nothing big.

More likely is some sort of Eldar/Necron next since we know C'tan are coming this year.

Look who's dead centre with Greyfax and Celestine. Is it Helbrecht? Nope. Any pointy ears? Of course not. No robot zombies either. Definitely not Creed or even Cawl (who is a bit further in the back).

It's the Ultramarines. Suck it, nerds!

It's Gamgee. He's also said Tau were coming after Montka again in 2016, thought there was going to be something new in Gangs of Commoragh, and thinks since he guessed one rumour correctly, that he is a prophet for how GW is going to release things. :p

Totally agree with this. There's such a range of possibilities with the successor chapters, its a shame that with a few exceptions GW still focus so much on the 1st founding.

Not just any Ultramarines either... it's the Ultramarines from Betrayal At Calth!

Inb4 Trazyn pulls them out of his pocket after 'acquiring' them during the heresy.

It's seems weird they'd use the Calth models, so it must be deliberate (either due to plot or to try to push more people to buy them).

They're also hiding Wulfen in the corner, in front of a good number of the Templars. I mean, we knew they were going to be featured in the campaign (both due to the ending of the Fenris campaign and the fact that it's been mentioned that Greyfax is appalled to see them).

sooo i don't know if it's old new, but on the GW site i noticed a bundle for ad mech and skitari that yesterday i did not notice.

It's called the Grand Convocation, the interesting part is that in the description states: "This bundle contains the miniatures necessary to assemble the Grand Convocation, a Detachment for The Gathering Storm: Fall of Cadia "

so it seems like that an ik it's not necessary to field the detachment witch make it different from the war convocation formation

Spoiler:
Celestine dies to Abaddon's sword, after Pylons activated. Doesn't look like ressurection is possible. Why would GW bring back this model just to kill her?

Spoiler:
Seems like Valeria met with a tragic fate off screen too. And I just can't even begin to imagine they could kill Celestine off now. I honestly have hope she's going to come back just because I can't countenance killing her so quickly. Are there too many female characters in 40k? Do they really think we need less? For crying out loud Abaddon literally beats her with a backhanded slap

Um no then We end up with crap like crimson slaughter that no one wanted. Keep it simple and mostly toward the founding chapters or more well known successors like black Templars, crimson fists, flesh terrors, etc. most successor chapters are there in life for players to create thier own paint scheme or logo.

I agree.

The founding chapters work because over time sufficient detail has built up around them to give them weight.

As you add more and more chapters the content each gets becomes thinner and thinner until there is basically nothing there.

There are 5 main Eldar Craftworlds and a few minor ones. Over the years they have seen some fluff to ground them in the universe (arguably very little, but for Xenos quite a bit).

By contrast there are what, over 20 official kabals, cults and covens for the Dark Eldar. Most of which have literally a single paragraph of fluff and they will never get any more. No wonder they never really get thought about.

In the same way Necron Dynasties are separate principally due to them liking different colours (yes I know they tried to pad out two with supplements). Same with Harlequins or the randoms factions of Thousand Sons in Wrath of Magnus. With the exception of the main studio group these factions are mentioned once with a line that basically says "our difference over the others is that we love purple" and are promptly never mentioned again.

Do Space Marine players really want a paragraph or two on the Doom Eagles, Howling Griffins, Novamarines and two dozen others who will receive maybe two lines in all the fluff from now to 2030?

The Tau did come again after Mont'ka. They got the new FSE codex and I think the Tau Ethereal + Commander bundle added to the webstore. That bundle also had the new Ethereal on hover drone which I think at that point had only been available in the boxed set of tau vs marines.

So I was right. I may have hoped for more, but I was right they got "something". I was a little disappointed the FSE didn't get a unique model, but alas at least they got "something".

I said there could possibly be something coming for the Dark Eldar and lo and gangs was announced. That is all I ever said. I never specifically said a new model would be coming in gangs, I had hoped and speculated it likely but not so likely I bet my life on it.

You keep mixing in my hopes and wish listing mixed up with what I am definitely saying is going to come. It's entirely the fault of your own reading comprehension I'm afraid.

However I did up my ante on DE and said they would get a new model or an updated kit by the end of the year since I'm fairy certain of that one. I could be wrong on this one and if I am going to be wrong this would probably be the one.

There really aren't the words to convey how much I loathe this cartoonish art style. Even the Bolter & Chainsword marine painter (as evidenced in my avatar) is superior.

Also ugh at the Inquisitor not being available for separate purchase.

Read the spoilers. My friend is going to be pissed since he is a big Cadia fan. My other friend who likes Abbaddon will be happy though. Celestine fans disappointed all around. *sigh* GW this is not the greatest way to make the sisters come back and have cool fluff. This is the opposite of that. This is only a step or two above old dumb sisters fluff like the whole blood thing.
