Hi guys,

I've been debating with myself for a few months and I havent found a real reason to field these guys... like at all. (No zone mortalis over here). Compared to breachers, they're too expensive. They're basically Tacticals with access to more power weapons and special weapons but considering their base cost, I believe they're just too much.

Immortals, Suzerians... regular breachers even, seem to outperform them in pretty much all their areas. What do you guys think?

How would you make them any better or use them for that matter?

Stone Gauntlet prevents deepstriking and they're slow. put them in a Spartan with an apopthecary seems ok until you realize its more than 800 points for the unit that can be destroyed kind of easily.

Thoughts?

I thought Warders were 15 points a model? Same as Breachers? They're just better and a fast attack choice without a rite of war.

So WS5 breachers with the option to take power axes. Pretty neat.

Can they not take a Phobos Land Raider?

Warders are 15 points per model - just like Breachers. However, start-up cost is 255 vs 200 and that.. that is too much.

They can take both Phobos and Proteus if 10 models or a Spartan if 20.

Remember they're WS5 if they're charged.. and for that turn only

They're really funny if you can convince your opponent to charge them (Particularly armies that want to get the charge off like World Eaters or Emperor's Children - I have a lot of fun trolling EC with them). I'd grab a Proteus if they need to move because you don't really need to pay the extra points for the Phobos' Assault Ramp.

They're not very points efficient, but they're fun and definitely can be effective when used correctly (forcing your opponent to charge them with their elite assault units).

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Please elaborate :O !

Defensive Grenades take away the extra attacks from the charge but I would expect the EC to run through you quite easily with their initiative.

Would you kit them out them with plasmas?

I'm building 25 guys of them (to switch out loadouts) with 4 plasmas, 2 breacher charges and like 8 power axes. the rest are bolters. One sgt has a thunder hammer.

I'd switch out plasmas with breacher charges if needed and all of that.

Cheers

Emperors children charging you and you win? Sure they lose 1 attack but in general i would expect not only do they all attack before you but assuming only sergeant on sergent they also win the challenge unless you save with the 5+, you also probably wont be ws5 just ws4.

Well, these guys get +1 initiative when charged, so they go at the same time as EC then.

As said by Victor and the EC sonic shriekers now lower the ws of opponents in base contact by 1 and ec now gain +1i for charging and another +1 for being in a challenge.

Even with all of their rules I find them over priced. I would take standard breachers of them to save points. Maybe taken with the ROW which grants them T5 would benefit them more than just taking them plain.
