I was going to sell my rotspawn army because I have too much warhammer kicking around but nurgle is my first love
and I'd very much like to find some filthy combos.

I'd love to hear what people think of making
things like glottkin, maggoth lords and blight kings
pack a punch.

I'm used to khorne synergy and nurgle has felt
underwhelming thus far.
show me what I'm missing!

I'm looking at running a plaguetouched warband from the everchosen book. It's a mortal nurgle hero and 7 other mortal nurgle units. The enemy gets -1 to hit you in the combat phase, and if you've got units that start the game with models that are a factor of 7 (7, 14, 21 etc) then enemy wound rolls of a 6 bounce mortal wounds back.

My plan is basically to have the glottkin plus a bunch of other stuff. A unit or two of 28 marauders, some warriors and blightkings, and a few other characters.

I haven't played many games yet with my mortal nurgle stuff through, and none at 2k. I went to a doubles tournament at warhammer world a little while back, using 1k of nurgle alongside a friend's skaven.

From that I found that blightkings are extremely effective if given +1 to hit. Turning a hit into d6 hits meant that they often got insane numbers of hits on people. I had a generic manticore lord as my general with the command trait that gives a unit +1 to hit, and he turned the blightkings into a very blendy unit indeed.

The only touble is that the blightkings actually don't combo all that well with the special characters, because they can't have command traits. The units that benefit the most from the Glottkin's command ability are the cheap, numerous ones, where lots of extra attacks are generated. Plaguebearers, marauders, and potentially plague monks get their effectiveness doubled by the Glotts. Blightkings are only 33% better.

I hope that's helpful.

indeed! I like the sound of the warband and manticore. never thought about stacking hit bonus on blight kings.

any other way to get +1 to hit?

There aren't really. I had a good look for characters with spells or command abilities that help, and couldn't find any. Named characters also don't get access to the handy command trait, annoyingly.

Of course blightkings are really fine as normal. They are already really dangerous even without +1 to hit. All chaos units occasionally get +1 to hit if you roll a 6 for them at the start of a combat and there's a hero nearby.

Take a general that isnt a named character to get the command trait and pick that Great destroyer so unpredictable destruction goes off on a 5+ (unpredictable destruction adds +1 to hit if you a roll a six when you select that unit to attack in the combat phase)

I'd rather take the command ability that let's him auto give +1 to one unit but that could work too

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
