Bonkers Buggy Driver with Rockets






Which special characters do you think need either rules for 7e or a rules update so that they're playable? My personal list is:

1) Old Zogwort, because orks need more psychic dakka and because squigging things could serve as a deathstar-breaker with some clever rules-writing. Maybe he could turn MC into giant squigs too?

2) Doomrider. Doomrider was an awesome character, not sure I need to say anything more.

3) Sly Marbo and basically all of the IG unique characters. All off them need ways to make up for T3 (except for Nork Deddog), Marbo needs to come out of hiding, and Yarrick needs to be fixed so that him being the only melee HQ in a shooty army doesn't cripple his potential.

and 4) Vect. Among all of the DE characters who got the ax, he stuck out as the most interesting one.

What do you think? Who needs to be brought back and/or up to par?

I mentined this on another thread, but Captain Tycho of the Blood Angels needs an overhaul. They could do something fun, like making him become more like his Death Company version as the turns go on or wounds pike up, or aomething more standard like adding Specialist Ammunition and his old close combat ability to ignore armour saves on his attacks.

I'd like Shrike to get chapter master rules or a slight points reduction, but he isn't too underpowered right now.

Most characters in most armies I would think are all in need of a push.

As for Tau specifically I think Shadowsun is the most useable of the ones we have. The least being Aun'shii the weird terrible melee ethereal.

The one I want to see most updated in a new model and rules is Farsight.

Okay so this isn't really a Special Character thing, but can the Blood Angels Codex please have a Chapter Master in the HQ slot? What if I don't want Dante (He's a beast and I don't think he needs updating, but I want to make custom Chapter Masters man)

Other than that I'd say a few CSM characters could do with some fresh life blown into them (I'm mostly looking at Lucius and Fabius because I play EC). Blood Angel's Tycho needs to be made useful. I'm happy with my Eldar characters though.

I'd cough up 30 points to give that boy a Jump Pack and the ability to join Skyclaw units.
Lukas' fluff claims he has a jump pack, why no option?

They gave him dirty syringe and cybork body. Clarified they don't stack, then further that it was intentional. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

How is Yarrick the only melee HQ when we have Iron Hand Straken? The guy who can punch a land raider to death!

I feel that Abaddon should have something to help when deepstriking. Currently at his costs you either put him in a Landraider and pray it makes it to the enemy lines, or play the deepstrike gamble.
In fact I'd say all the chaos characters could do with new rules, maybe with the exception of Typhus

He really is stupidly bad.

Land raider points for something that has contradicting special rules, giving him initiative 1.
No synapse atall (wouldn't be expected)
Low number of attacks.

You would think something that size would hit 1st if he charged due to it resembling a train crashing into stuff.

Instead he runs in then gets gibbed by power weapons or rending before he can do anything.

Yeah the cy body is useless but the syringe can have a use, if you really need to strike first in close combat and not with the I1 power klaw. So the syringe is not a real issue, and i love the character itself and its rules, the problem is the cost of that dok, it should be around 90-100 pts. A painboy plus a power klaw is 75 points, plus some special rules and a better profile than a standard dok. It would be fair if costed 90-100 pts. And we need some other characters, a big mek and a weirdboy for sure, also zhadnsark or wazzdakka in some update codex, cause not everyone accepts them.

I know eldar don't need more unique characters, but now that chariots are a thing bring back nuadhu fireheart, the badass from the 3rd ed codex who used a spear from the back of a vyper.

Iyanna arienal too, a named spiritseer who took leadership tests instead of armour saves.

Sly marbo needs his own detachment as well as a rules overhaul. That way he can show up at any time in any battle.

it's not needing new rules but fabius bile and Huron are basicly elft out of the triator legions goodies, and could perhaps stand to have a formation built around them to make up for it. Bile partiuclarly screams "formation"

Big bad inquisitor Karamazov needs either a point fix or brand new statline and abilities.

His model is real cool, but he's just not worth it especially when you can get Coteaz which is half cost and straight up better.

Tycho needs his ignore armour hand back - that nerf was so pointless I honestly believe they just forgot to include it.
Whilst The Sanguinor (that Angel who never dies and always gets back up when put down), needs his old 3++ back and fnp. 200pts for a T4 3W character that can't join units? Good one GW! He also hits like a teletubby considering he destroys Greater Deamons and Lords of Skulls in the fluff. 4 st5 ap3 attacks is nothing to shout home about on a 200pt model who is known for turning the tide in many battles against hopeless odds in the fluff.

Now compare him to St Celestine that has 5 wounds, 2 2-wound buddies that can reincarnate every turn, heavy flamer, s8 ap3 orbital bombardment, aura that makes stuff around significantly better and she can reincarnate to boot. All for the same 200 pts. And she CAN join units even together with her girlfriends.

Let Sanguinor and Lucius cry in the corner together.

Celestine has many of the same rules as Dante, costs 20 pts less, and still has many more rules. The Blood Angels codex is a joke.

This. All of the IG characters need new rules. You mentioned Yarrick, a perfect example. Yarrick is Armageddon's creed, a tactical genius. It is through his leadership that he and the Steel Legion were able to hold Hades Hive long enough for space marine chapters to arrive and save the planet. He countered Thrakka who is basically the living manifestation of Gork/Mork move for move during the 2nd War on Armageddon and yet he has no special rules to reflect that? None? Furthermore, he is the only commissar that I am aware of in the entire setting who hasn't executed someone under his command for cowardice. He has never needed to, as those under him revere & respect him. When he arrived planetside when the 3rd war of Armageddon began the entire planet was relieved he took command.

While he is better than most IG units in melee and his rules do reflect that, they are hardly anything to get excited about. S6 power klaw priced out at 140+ points in a shooty army? Really the only thing that stands out about him is his ability to not die similar to Celestine. It is useful to deny warlord killpoint, but that is about it.

Here is how I would improve Sanguinor if still disallowing IC status and keeping the same points:

Give him his straight up 3++ back
Give him fnp
Give him either +1W or IWND (these 3 are to make sure he doesnt evaporate due to a low amount of firepower like he currently does since non IC and 200pts are a weakness you just cant overcome otherwise, plus IWND fits more with the fluff)
Make his sword ap2 and +1s. Basically an encarmine axe without unwieldy.
Give him hit and run (in all fluff pieces he keeps peeling off and hitting again at speed, plus he can't give this usr to anyone else since he is not an IC so I wouldnt consider that OP).

Then he might, MIGHT be worth close to 200pts.

Lucius. His rules do nothing to match his fluff. He should be a challenge fiend. And bad things should happen to characters who beat him.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
