So Black Guardian Formation gives generic Prefered Enemy if certain enemies are present, rather than PE agianst them

Suprised the Visarch is only 3+ save

A Lightning Claw doesn't really help. That is average of 1/6 wounds a go.

I admit I forgot some of the perks so Zar won't kill the Bikemaster. They will just run in and proceed to tickle each other until the game ends. Unless one or the other gets very lucky.

Not sure what to think the Triumvirate. Certainly don't seem a steal for those points costs. Yvraine especially seems like rule of cool but actually pretty impractical.

Yes but on the other hand, T6 W5 3+ with no invul. Very easy to kill with shooting.

Daemon USR means a 5++ save. And don't forget potential psychic buffs from some friendly Farseers.

Looks like you can take nearly any of the formations normally available normally. I thought losing access to the aspect shrine formation was going to be an interesting trade off. Deep striking raiders with bs5 fire dragons is a thing again.

All harliquin formations will now be ynnari as there is zero downside to it.

It's odd that they included the wraithhost formation. Its major benefit is battle focus, but they lose the battle focus for being ynnari. Unless it is FAQ'd to still give battle focus, then it would be god damn amazing.

Yeah - you need to dodge the D weapons but otherwise its going to stand up to most things.

Yeah, a couple of pages ago It's the only CWE unit that did not make it in the Ynnari detachment. DE on the other hand lost all the Coven units (like announced) and the Mandrakes. All other units, and all the formations from the 3 codices are in

New Mandrake faction coming in 2019 confirmed?

The Coven cut out is a bit weird because it seems a clear case of fluff over rules. I had thought Ynnari were meant to be glass cannons re-thought, you don't want the tough units having the extra damage output.

But then they got a full suite of wraith units probably because GW presumably know Knights continue to sell like hotcakes.

I dunno, is that any good? Solitaires can only take 1 relic and Hungering Blade has no AP. I feel like it doesn't really add much. You wouldn't be able to combine the Caress with with Hungering Blade either I think. Lost Shroud seems okay.

Really gotta wonder what the future holds for the Ynnari as a faction once this event is done. Will they still be around once its all over, and if so will they ever get anything unique in the fluff and model departments beyond there triumvirate?

Well, you can't combine it with the Caress, but you can combine it with the Kiss. The FAQ ruling had to do with the Kiss rules only needing it to be equipped. The Caress must be used for its rules to work, like the Hungering Blade. Still, I'd give him the Hungering Blade and maybe let the Shadowseer have the EW, IWND, and FNP in a Heroes Path.

Could you not take a wraithknight as a lord of war and take the tri of ynnead formation together?

Or take the yncarne and a wraith host formation to get a wraithknight holding hands with yncarne?

Was disappointed in the 6" move until I read the teleporting abilities of yncarne. Plus the warlord trait that allows you to select your own abilities is amazing.

Am I now allowed to put a troope in a raider? Opens up so many options and combos!

Gotta see costs first before final judgement. The visarch is s3 t3 3+ save with no invuln and hilariously he doesn't have grenades... Oh GW, don't ever change!

Also notice they generate their powers from revenant or sanctic, but not being GK's they are gona peril a lot if you go sanctic, seems very limiting on the psychic front. Yvraine doesn't come with the best warlord trait either lol.

All in all this looks like a giant marketing tool to get people to play all the elves rather then one. Obviously the best lists will be craftworld eldar heavy and cherry pick the open topped transports, YAY!

I mean why bother though, 9/10 lists will just be windriders since they couldn't battle focus anyway, so now multiple reborn warhost 3 man scatbikes detachments are more obnoxious since they are the same as before except any time you shoot one unit off the table any other unit within 7" gets a free shot immediately in your turn! Hurray for balanced game design rolling forward! Feth me is this stupid.

Edit: I had no issues with the strength from death rule when it was leaked since it appeared as though Ynari were going to be restricted to formations etc, but the fact that they decided to sandbox the entirety of the eldar race and give them one faction for transport nabbing and continued access to scatbikes just kills me a little inside. If you though it was hard killing aspect shrine warp spiders and wind riders before just consider what allowing them to shoot, move or assault once for free any time you manage to kill one of the suckers. "Oh yay my Genestealer cult finally managed a 6 to assault your warpspiders or windriders, now I just need to survive overwatch THEN if I manage to kill you your fething friends get to delete me in my own turn anyway.

It is kinda stupid to see the one, lone, sad Dark Eldar formation in the wall of other formations...poor dark eldar, reduced to being taxicabs again.

I think you'll definitely see Reavers and Warrior units in Venoms sneaking into the Ynnari lists. The DE vehicles will definitely be there too, of course.

I can see reavers but definitely not warriors, but honestly again, you will mostly see scatpacks, farseers and spiders as usual. They basically just get extra free shooting against the odd opponent that can actually manage to kill some of them.

Regarding soulburst charges, if an ynnari unit shoots something to death and soulbursts would it be able to charge anything? You charge as though it was your assault phase, so wouldn't you still have to charge the unit you shot at which is already dead? If it overrides this, what about after things like turbo boosting or deepstriking?

It seems to me like things that would prevent you from charging normally (running in the shooting phase, etc), would also prevent you from charging using Soulburst.

Wow, I had to reread the rule but when I first read the rule I thought it triggered off from other units with strength from death rule dying, but that isn't a requirement at all. Not sure about assaulting another unit but heck, you can shoot your scatpack bikes at units within 7" and immediately blast a second unit off the table near another unit allowing them to shoot again, since repeat. If you positioned your warp spiders and scat bikes well enough you could chain fire each unit twice so long as your wiping enough targets. THEN, if you live through it and start killing those units, they can trigger AGAIN in their own turn. This just keeps getting sillier, I really should not have taken the leap of faith in GW to write a combined eldar book without dropping the ball.

EDIT: I am SO glad I don't waste my time at "competitive" events that are bigger then a local RTT since 5th. Holy crap are these sandbox rule sets out of hand. At this point, so long as factions don't vanish and the universe isn't horribly altered I actually am hoping for an AoS like simplification to the way armies and special rules work. I can't even imagine how utterly stupid it would be to play against a Pale Court warp spider spam army with all the free action triggers.
