Quick question, is this and actual event or just some random drawing? Found it by accident, it's clearly Ollanius vs Horus though the setting is wrong. It's supposed to happen on Horus flagship. I assume it's just a fanart but figured I'd check in case this is some HH event I'm unaware of.

Edit: if it is a piece of fanart then it's a rather awesome piece of fanart I might add.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

Just a fan picture, but I like it. Apparently old Olli was on the Vengeful Spirit, Horus' flagship, with the big E and company.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I thought Horus sent himself into the Palace?

Nope. He (or someone else) lowered the shields on his flagship to bait the Emperor into teleporting as a final gamble to defeat the Emperor before the loyalist reinforcements arrived.

To be fair, the story has changed over the years. It used to be in the palace.

When was it ever stated the fight was in the palace? Casting my mind way back to 2ed, I would still swear that the fight didn't take place in the palace.

Can't remember it ever being anywhere other than the flagship. Even in second edition. An ancient WD boardgame even was about storming the flagship.

Nope, was always on the Vengeful Spirit. The schtick has always been that the only reason big E got on board was because Horus dropped the shields - interestingly, the reason for Horus dropping the shields has changed a few times as different editions have come out.

Been into this since the 80's, jeebus.

I think people get confused with it being in the palace when they read the first Horus book Horus rising. They tried to be cute with the whole I was there when Horus killed the emperor. When was the first Horus book anyways 16 years ago or something now? God they are milking it at this rate GW will close before they finish.

I quit after book 5 I think it was when it was about John the guy no one ever heard of talking to aliens about the heresy and how he was having an affair with the planets queen or some crap...... It is just fan fiction now.

I thought it was some random Custodes who stood in front of Horus on his battle-barge. Who's this Ollmanius Pilus character?

WD Compendium (RT red book with the Ultras on the cover), Page 38.

-Picture of Guard in the foreground, titans and tanks in the back-

3rd paragraph

The large banner on the right is ‘F’ Company’s honour banner, carried -as is traditional- by members of the 1st platoon. It bears the scrolls of no less then five actions for which the company was highly commended. The central figure is an image of Ollanius Pius, the Guardsman who is supposed to have given his life by interposing his body between Horus and the Emperor during the assault on the Imperial Palace. He is now regarded as as somewhat of a saint by the Guard, and is even prayed to as in intercessionary figure.

To be fair, earlier in the book (pg. 17, sidebar) It talks of the Emperor storming the Warmaster’s bunker at the climax of the heresy, and having a squad of IF terminators cut their way to his side. They distracted Horus at a critical moment, and let the Big E finish him off, albeit near death. He did manage to order his armor be taken off, melted down, and incorperated into the rank badges for terminator captains.

The fluff was a lot more fluid back then...

At some point didn't it get changed to an Imperial Fist Terminator getting casually offed by the Big H that finally made the Big E go up to 11 and perma-erase Horus from reality?

I mean, not like the whole damn Horus Heresy shouldn't have already done that, or seeing the broken body of the Angel there too, or etc. etc. etc. !

Haha, indeed.

As I understand it originally it was a unnamed guardsman, then an Imperial first Terminator, then a Custodes and now It's back to a "named" guardsmen called Ollanius who's also a perpetual. Frankly I prefer the idea of it being just a guardsman with no name of significance. Don't know what a regular human would be doing up on Horus flagship though.

Maybe he helped keep the Emperor grounded. Maybe Ollanius was the Emoeror's Krillin.

I believe the original story went that when the Emperor teleported up, he took everyone who could fight up with him. if this is your last chance to kick ass or lose, you would too.
