It's only been two months or something. Give him time.

Corruption begins always by the head. But I must say this administration is so obvious about the interest conflicts. Sure, former presidents may have lied and did things more or less "undercover", but this one does it so much that it's almost like he doesn't even think about hiding it. It's really amazing in a way.

Wikileaks revelations about CIA are quite convenient for the Trump administration, by the way. Man, I really don't have an idea about what their source could be, really...

Why would he try and hide it?

He's got at least two years for the other people in power to not give a crap, and his supporters don't seem to care. The Red Team won, and that's what counts!

Are you suggesting Trump is behind it? Because that would be legitimate grounds for impeachment. Personally, I don't see Trump being the type of person to do that. I'm thinking this is another jack-hole, Snowden-wannabe-but-probably-more-like-Manning type of person. At least I hope so, I'd hate for it to come out that the CIA was actually hacked at this level.

FBI already opened a criminal investigation into the leak. http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/08/politics/wikileaks-cia-investigation/index.html

To be fair to Assange and crew, they rarely release false/altered stuff (the very edited Apache video form Manning being a notable exception), so we'll see.

China has granted preliminary approval for 38 new Trump trademarks, paving the way for President Donald Trump and his family to develop a host of branded businesses from hotels to insurance to bodyguard and concierge services, public documents show.

Trump's lawyers in China applied for the marks in April 2016, as Trump railed against China at campaign rallies, accusing it of currency manipulation and stealing US jobs. Critics maintain that Trump's swelling portfolio of China trademarks raises serious conflict of interest questions.

China's Trademark Office published the provisional approvals on 27 February and Monday......
.............If no one objects, they will be formally registered after 90 days. All but three are in the president's own name. China already registered one trademark to the president, for Trump-branded construction services, on 14 February.

If President Trump receives any special treatment in securing trademark rights, it would violate the U.S. Constitution, which bans public servants from accepting anything of value from foreign governments unless approved by Congress, ethics lawyers from across the political spectrum say. Concerns about potential conflicts of interest are particularly sharp in China, where the courts and bureaucracy are designed to reflect the will of the ruling Communist Party.

Dan Plane, a director at Simone IP Services, a Hong Kong intellectual property consultancy, said he had never seen so many applications approved so quickly. "For all these marks to sail through so quickly and cleanly, with no similar marks, no identical marks, no issues with specifications - boy, it's weird," he said.

.............The trademarks are for businesses including branded spas, massage parlors, golf clubs, hotels, insurance, finance and real estate companies, retail shops, restaurants, bars, and private bodyguard and escort services.

yeah.

of course.

When we said we were worried he might feth the world over this isn't quite what we meant.....

When Trump said he was draining the swamp, he clearly left out the "into his own pockets" portion.

No, not Trump. Why him? There are people who are much, much more interested to make America look as "they're not better than us with their democracy, really".

And if that happens precisely when Comey is saying there is no wire tapping of Trump under Obama, it's also convenient to distract attention from, say, allegations of those contacts with Russia while saying they didn't.

You really can't see? Who is good at hacking and conveniently dropping sensitive files at some really convenient times when it can work in their favor? Yeah, rumors, I know.

It's the contractors working on various projects for the CIA and other agencies who are leaking the technical info. Staffers, who are concerned with the scale of operations and over reach of the intelligence services.

These leaks aid the Trump administration by accident.

Whilst we are on Wikileaks Assange is similar to Trump. His supporters buy his narrative of the intelligence service out to get him which forces him to seek protection. He could totally clear his name and get that Rape charge from over his head, he wants to and he has said he would! but its up to this shadowy 007, Bourne, Polonium 210 delivering cabal to put their hands up first and not assasinate him. sad.

On moon miranda.

Racist people live everywhere, it's exclusive to nowhere. "The South" doesnt have a monopoly on it. Ostensibly "progressive" west coast states like California and Oregon have some of the most active racist groups in the nation and certainly have their own shameful racist past, that in some cases is even more recent than Jim Crow and had laws that attacked far more different ethnic groups than the South did (e.g. Chinese, Hispanics, etc). That said, to be fair, the South's reputation also doesn't come from nowhere, and is where racists typically enjoy the most political success and public profile in the modern US, though that reputation is rather overblown in most instances. Yes, David Duke manages to finagle a spot on the debate stage in the South, but he's winning any elections either.

With each passing day, and with each revelation about the CIA, it never ceases to amaze me that the American people haven't marched on Virginia and burned that wretched CIA HQ to the ground.

Your forefathers would have torched the place a long time ago...

I watch gun channels on youtube from time to time, because I enjoy the features on old muskets and black powder, and I stop watching when they start talking politics i.e the 2nd amendment, because I can get a gun debate anywhere...

and yet, whenever a Democratic even breathes the word gun, those channels will be organising 10 billion men marches on Washington or ranting about an NRA fundraiser, or cold dead hands, or this or that and so on...

and yet, here we are, with another nail in the coffin of the 4th amendment and the response is the biggest shrug of shoulders in American history...

I like America, but by God, even if I live to be a million, I don't think I'd ever understand the people who live there...

The thing about the CIA documents leaked to date is that they show capability we would expect and want them to have, and the only noted use of that capability (shown so far) is over seas, where they should be using it. So far there isn't anything showing they used that capability to collect against US persons. THAT would be a major issue. Having the capability may be 'scary', but frankly in a high tech world it is the type of capability they should be developing and using to collect against foreign targets. We DO spend a feth ton for them to provide us intelligence... There is no 4th Amendment issues when they collect on foreign targets.

Now, if Assange and crew present evidence the CIA DID violate 4th Amendment rights of US persons, that will be another story.

I'm not convinced that correcting the point from, "there are more racists in the south of the USA" to "it is more socially acceptable to be a racist in the south of the USA" ultimately is a thing worth feeling particularly good about.

Lol, as someone from the West Coast who once lived in the South, I will say this. The racist Southerners that I met were ridiculously smooth with their racism. Like, you'd have an entire conversation, and it wasnt until like an hour after leaving that you go, "wait... that was racist!!" The ones that I ran into who were more overt were most likely from the "near South" which I would probably put Ohio into, as in, near enough to The South that they do what they do, and make it look like they are locals.

Dave Chappalle had a bit about that in which he said that there is racism all over but that the South had it "stewed to perfection". There is some salty language so not sharing it here.

We waited seven years for Republicans to offer up their replacement for ACA. It finally gets here, and after a day we all stop talking about it and move on to other subjects.

Is it because this House Republican bill is so bad that everyone assumes it is dead on arrival?

Prestor Jon wrote:
I'm agreeing with you that it's not shocking and I'm trying to point out that if that southern Republican support for Trump is tainted by racism then that should also extend to the previous Republican candidates that all got southern support.

Well yeah, a lot of people have been pointing the connection between racism and Republican voting for a long time now. "Tainted" is a dramatic and fairly unecessary term, but the connection is certainly there and is part of the Republican base.

There seems to be a lot of impetus to find supportive evidence of racist support for Trump to build on the Trump=alt right=racist and Trump voter=alt right supporter=racist transitive property narratives.

Yeah, and I think while the racist element has been important, it perhaps has drawn attention away from all the other terrible reasons people voted for Trump. There's a rich tapestry of awful and/or grossly misinformed reasons that people voted for Trump, of which racism is just one.

No, you weren't. You were giving data to counter a non-existent point, in order to move attention away from a real point you don't want to recognize. No-one has said racism only exists in the South, but that it was more common there, and was a big part of the reason for Republican dominance there.

If you can't wrap your head around that, let's look at the date you provided. From your second image, let's pick out the 12 states that were identified as being 'chock full o nazis', and see which way they voted.

Nevada - Clinton wins
Idaho - Trump wins
Montana - Trump wins
Wyoming - Trump wins
Iowa - Trump wins
Arkansas - Trump wins
Mississippi - Trump wins
Alabama - Trump wins
Tennessee Trump wins
West Virginia - Trump wins
South Carolina - Trump wins
Delaware - Clinton Wins

Man, what possible pattern can we see in there? You said in your post how you'd like to hand out cookies to people for being so smart, perhaps you could offer a cookie to whoever figures out this one.

That's my point - where's the outrage?

You've answered your own question. The CIA leak showed us stuff we accept the CIA has the capability and support. The power of the CIA to use smartphones and new TVs to listen in on suspected terrorists is something people are not only not bothered about, it's stuff they're largely supportive of.

You're bothered by this because you assume this stuff is being used illegally, against US citizens. While that might be true, the leak does nothing to prove it. So with no new evidence on the thing that people are actually concerned about, why the outrage?

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.
